Our air conditioning service in EN4
Not sure what you need, or where it would go? Send a few pictures of the rooms and the outside walls when you phone 07833 053749 or email us, and we’ll reply the same working day to arrange a survey or a quote. The work covers wall-mounted split systems, air-to-air heat pumps and VRF systems, and the jobs we see most are a home office that warms up with screens and equipment and a loft conversion that’s too warm to use.
There’s very little for you to do on the day. Someone needs to let us in and show us the units, or where they’re going, and we take it from there. At the end, we tidy up and run through the work with you.
- We survey the rooms and the outside of the property, or work from photos and details for simple jobs.
- Cooling loads are worked out room by room, and the written price names the make, the model and every position.
- The indoor unit is fixed in place, the outside unit positioned, and the connecting runs put in tidily.
- Once the electrics are connected, the pipework is tested for leaks and put under vacuum before any refrigerant flows.
- The system is commissioned and checked in every mode, and we hand over the controls, F-Gas records and warranty information.
What you will pay
The price reflects the work, not guesswork. That is why every job is looked at first, and why the quote is fixed before any work starts.
Why people in EN4 choose us
- A fixed price before any work starts
- Electrical work covered by our NICEIC approval
- Manufacturer’s warranty terms explained on your quote
- Emergency calls taken 24/7
Getting a quote
Here’s what helps us quote: the address and the type of property, photos of the rooms or units, the make and model of any existing system and anything you’ve noticed, such as an error code or a noise. Once you have those, phone us on 07833 053749 or fill in the contact form.

The nearest railway station is New Barnet station, roughly 0.8 miles west. Air conditioning around EN4
From Barnet, New Barnet and Osidge outwards, EN4 has every kind of home. Each install starts with a survey of the rooms, the walls and where the outdoor unit can go.
Refrigerant work is done by F-gas qualified engineers for a certified company, and the electrics come under our NICEIC approval.
Cockfosters: Living close to Christ Church? Some older properties in parts like that are protected, and the survey finds out whether yours is. Wyllyotts Manor (roughly 3.4 miles north-west) shows the area has its share of heritage. A listed home needs consent before an outdoor unit or pipework goes on.
When something else is needed
We’ll always give you a straight diagnosis, so here’s what air conditioning will not do:
- A lack of fresh air (most split systems recirculate room air rather than bringing fresh air in, which is a job for ventilation)
- An installation that needs consent nobody has given yet
- Damp from leaks or a lack of ventilation
Pricing air conditioning in EN4
The quote reflects the job in front of us. We consider:
- Which make and model is being fitted or worked on
- The distance and route between the indoor and outdoor units
- How easy the units are to reach
- The type of system, from a single split to a larger system
Homes, offices, shops and public buildings are all priced the same way: what’s needed, how we reach it, the parts and the labour. Ask for a fixed-price quote and we will go through it with you.
What we need to know
Simple jobs can often be priced from photos and some basics. Send what you can of the following:
- Your installation or service records
- Your consumer unit or fuse board
- Any error code or flashing light on the display
- The rating plate or label on any existing unit
Published ranges are a starting point; the quote is built on your property, because every property is different. After a look at the job, by photos or a survey, the price is fixed. To get going, ring us on 07833 053749 or write to us at info@aircondoctor.co.uk.
Looking after your system
So the system stays in good health:
- Keep the indoor unit’s filters clean
- Keep the outdoor unit clear of leaves, plants and clutter
- Book an annual service
- Never run the system with the filters out
We show you how to take the filters out and clean them. Clean them every few weeks when the system is in heavy use, following the manual, and keep the outdoor unit clear of leaves and clutter.
Book an annual service. A service cleans what you cannot reach and picks up faults before they stop the system and keeps the warranty paperwork right where servicing is a condition.
What happens if it’s left?
The outdoor unit’s position is worth getting right first time. A good position keeps noise down and leaves room for servicing, and it can affect whether planning permission is needed. It’s agreed on the survey, not on the day.
What your quote should include
- Whether testing, commissioning and paperwork are included
- Why the equipment they’re quoting suits the job
- What records you get at the end
- Who does the electrical work, and whether they can certify it
EN4 questions
How do you keep the place clean during the work?
Protection goes down first: sheets over the floor and nearby furniture. Any drilling is agreed with you first, and we clear up the dust and offcuts before we leave.
Why use an F-Gas certified company?
For refrigerant work, both the engineer and the company need the right F-gas credentials. It’s worth checking before you book, and we are happy to show ours.
How long does it take to fit air conditioning?
Most single-room systems take a day. Multi-room and ducted systems take longer, depending on the pipe routes and access, and we tell you how long on the quote.
Do you work on systems someone else installed?
Yes. We work on systems fitted by other installers as well as our own, on all the main brands. Send us the make and model, and any records you have.
Where does the outdoor unit go?
The position is agreed on the survey, not on the day. It must have clear airflow and space for servicing, and walls or roofs facing a road can raise planning questions. We explain the options and any permissions to check.
How much is air conditioning for one room?
A single-room split system is typically £1,200–£2,200 + VAT. A two-room multi-split is typically £2,800–£4,500 + VAT, and three to five rooms £4,500–£8,500 + VAT, including supply, installation, commissioning and F-Gas documentation. You get a fixed price before any work starts.
Does air conditioning work as heating?
Normally, yes. Running as a heat pump, it moves heat in from outside rather than making it from electricity alone. To replace your main heating, there are extra conditions, including for the £2,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant for air-to-air heat pumps.
