How air conditioning works in W5
Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi are among the brands we fit. We recommend a model on the survey and explain why it suits the room, and the manufacturer’s warranty terms are set out on your quote. We’re often asked to deal with rooms heated by plug-in heaters and a loft room or top floor that bakes in summer, across ceiling cassettes, VRF systems and wall-mounted split systems.
There’s very little for you to do on the day. Someone needs to let us in and show us the units, or where they’re going, and the rest is down to us. Before we leave, the area is tidied and we explain what we’ve done.
- First comes a site survey, or photos and measurements for a straightforward job.
- Cooling loads are worked out room by room, and the written price names the make, the model and every position.
- Brackets go on, the units are hung and the refrigerant lines, cable and drain are routed between them.
- The electrical supply is connected, and the refrigerant circuit is pressure tested and evacuated.
- We commission the system, show you the controls and leave the F-Gas records and the manufacturer’s warranty details.
Pricing in W5

Getting a price
Photos are the fastest route to a quote: the inside and outside of the property where the work is, plus the rating plate of any unit already there. Add the address and what you’d like done, and simple jobs can often be priced without a visit.
Around Ealing
In Ealing, that means homes and buildings near Library for Iranian Studies, Great Ealing School and Christ the Saviour Church of England Primary School. Also close by are Ealing Independent College (within half a mile north), St Saviour's Church (within half a mile east), Walpole Park (within half a mile north-east) and The Red Lion pub (less than half a mile south-east). The nearest railway station is Ealing Broadway station, roughly 0.5 miles north-east. A little further out are London Designer Outlet (3.3 miles north) and Gunnersbury Park House - Large Mansion (1.2 miles south-east). The countryside around Ealing includes Castlebar Hill and Middle Lake.
Where we install in W5
From Ealing, Brentford and Northfields outwards, W5 has every kind of home. We survey every property before we quote.
W5 is part of a working area that runs from Greater London to the Sussex coast and out to Oxfordshire and Essex. One phone number covers all of it.
Ealing: Pitzhanger Manor (roughly 0.1 miles east) shows the area has its share of heritage. A listed home needs consent before an outdoor unit or pipework goes on. Close to Ealing Broadway station? A small study or box room used for work can usually be cooled with a single indoor unit.
Safe owner checks
Refrigerant is off limits for anyone without the right qualifications. The law requires anyone working on equipment containing F gas to hold the right qualifications, and the company to be certified, and refrigerant lines can cause cold burns. If you suspect a leak, switch the system off and call us.
Don’t move, re-route or disconnect units or pipework yourself. Moving a unit involves the refrigerant circuit, so it needs an F-Gas qualified engineer, and the electrics need care too. If you need something moved, we can quote for it.
What affects the cost of air conditioning
Jobs vary more than people expect. The main factors:
- What kind of system it is
- Whether the existing supply is suitable
- The distance and route between the indoor and outdoor units
- Which make and model is being fitted or worked on
Putting several jobs into one visit often makes better use of the time. Mention every unit or room you need covered and we’ll price it together.
What to send for a quote
When you call or email, it’s useful to have:
- Your installation or service records
- The rating plate or label on any existing unit
- Wide photos of the room or the existing unit
- Where the property is and what kind of building it is
Our prices page gives typical ranges, but your quote is based on your job, because no two buildings, rooms or systems are the same. After a look at the job, by photos or a survey, the price is fixed. To get going, call 07833 053749 or use the quote form.
Leave it or put it right?
Putting up with another summer of portable units and fans rarely makes sense. A fixed system removes the heat to the outside, runs more quietly in the room and can typically heat as well, so it works for you in winter as well.
What your quote should include
- Proof of F-Gas company certification
- How extra work would be agreed if they find something unexpected
- Whether the manufacturer’s warranty depends on regular servicing
- How VAT is shown, and which rate applies
Signs you need air conditioning
Not everyone is after cooling. Old direct electric heaters turn electricity straight into heat, while a heat pump moves heat in from the outside air, so it gives out more heat than the electricity it uses. Most modern split systems work this way.
Common reasons people call us include:
- Portable units that are noisy and barely cope
- A room that’s unbearable on warm days
- A loft conversion that is too warm to use
- An old system that needs replacing
W5 questions
Do you survey before quoting?
Yes. Every job is looked at first, on a survey, or from your photos and details where the job is simple. Then you get a fixed-price quote.
Can you come out in an emergency?
Yes. Our emergency line runs 24/7 for problems that cannot wait for a planned visit. Ring 07833 053749 any time and explain the problem.
How does the warranty work?
The manufacturer’s warranty, on the manufacturer’s terms. Terms differ by brand, and we set them out on your quote.
Can I do any of the installation myself?
Not the refrigerant work. The F-gas rules require certified companies and qualified engineers for it, and a new electrical circuit is notifiable building work unless a registered competent person does it.
Is planning permission needed for the outdoor unit?
Not necessarily. On a house, air-to-water heat pumps and, since 2025, air-to-air systems that heat as well as cool can be permitted development if they meet the conditions. Permission is more likely to come up for cooling-only units, listed buildings, flats and road-facing positions in conservation areas and the survey picks it up. This is general information, not legal advice.
Do you provide F-Gas records?
Yes. You get a written record of each visit, including F-Gas records for any refrigerant work. Keep them with the manual and the warranty documents.
Do you work on commercial properties?
Yes. From a single let flat to offices, shops and public buildings, the approach is the same: survey or diagnosis, a fixed price and proper paperwork.
