Air conditioning across RM14: what to expect
Not sure what you need, or where it would go? Just phone us on 07833 053749 or email us with pictures of the rooms and the outside of the property, and we will reply the same working day to arrange a survey or a quote. The work covers wall-mounted split systems, multi-split systems and ceiling cassettes, and common reasons people get in touch are portable units that are noisy and barely cope and a room that’s unbearable on warm days.
The work area is kept tidy throughout, with dust sheets down and offcuts and packaging cleared up. Any holes, fixings or cable routes are agreed with you before we drill. The visit takes about a day for a single-room system, longer for multi-room and ducted systems.
- Diagnosis comes first, with a survey of the rooms, outside space and fuse board.
- Then the prescription: the right system and size for each room, on a fixed-price quote.
- The treatment: units fitted, pipework and drain routed, and the electrics installed.
- Before it runs, the pipework is proved tight and put under vacuum.
- Finally, the clean bill of health: commissioning, the controls explained and your paperwork handed over.
Pricing in RM14
Height, access and the distance between the indoor and outdoor units can all change the price. We take each of them into account, and the price is fixed before any work starts.

Near you in Upminster
Typical jobs here are in properties near Upminster Junior School, St. Andrew's Park and Church of St Laurence. Also close by are The Crumpled Horn pub (less than half a mile south-west) and Eastbrook School (within half a mile south-east). Upminster has its own railway station: Upminster station. Where we install in RM14
Our air conditioning work across RM14 takes in places such as Hornchurch, Upminster and Harold Park and the smaller places around them. We cover every place we list for RM14, 9 in all.
Across London and the South East, we reply to enquiries the same working day, and our emergency line is open 24/7.
Upminster: Hare Hall (roughly 2.6 miles north-west) shows the area has its share of heritage. A listed home needs consent before an outdoor unit or pipework goes on. If you work from home near Upminster station, a home office that overheats is one of the easiest rooms to cool.
Leave it or put it right?
Fans and portables move warm air around rather than removing it. A fixed system removes the heat to the outside, runs more quietly in the room and can typically heat as well, so it works for you in winter as well.
What your quote should include
- Whether the manufacturer’s warranty depends on regular servicing
- What records you get at the end
- Whether extra work needs your approval first
- Whether testing, commissioning and paperwork are included
System by system
Ducted systems
A ducted system needs a ceiling void or loft deep enough for the unit and ducts plus an access hatch for maintenance. We check that on the survey before recommending one.
Pipework and condensate drains
We pressure test and evacuate the pipework before the system is charged, so the system starts life clean, dry and leak-tight. The results go into the commissioning records.
Pricing air conditioning in RM14
Every job gets its own quote. These are the things that affect it:
- Access, including height, roofs and ladders
- The electrical supply and whether a new circuit is needed
- The brand, model and parts involved
- The condition of any existing system
Whatever the property, the quote works the same way: the equipment, the access, the work involved and the time it takes. Call for a fixed-price quote and we will explain each part.
What we need to know
Good pictures often save a visit. Try to include:
- A few pictures of the room and the wall the unit is on, or will go on
- The address and the type of property
- Any error code or flashing light on the display
- Where the outdoor unit is, or where you’d like it
Every quote shows the VAT clearly, and the rate that applies to your job is stated. Homes, businesses and different kinds of work can be treated differently for VAT, so we confirm it in writing rather than guess. For a fixed-price quote, ring 07833 053749 or email us.
What you can do yourself, and what needs us
Do not move, re-route or disconnect units or pipework yourself. Moving a unit involves the refrigerant circuit, so it needs an F-Gas qualified engineer, and the electrical side needs a competent person. Ask us to quote for a move instead.
Some faults have simple causes you can check first: check the mode, the set temperature, the remote’s batteries and the breaker. If the breaker trips a second time, leave it off and ring 07833 053749 or fill in the contact form.
Your questions about air conditioning in RM14
Do you work in RM14?
Yes. We work in RM14 and across Greater London, as part of our area across London and the South East. For a fixed-price quote, phone 07833 053749.
Whose job is it to check the system for leaks?
Whoever operates the equipment, together with the technicians who service it. Larger systems need regular checks: at least every 12 months from 5 tCO2e and every 6 months from 50 tCO2e. We’ll work out which band applies to yours.
Where will you put the outdoor unit?
We agree it with you on the survey. It needs space around it to breathe and room for an engineer to service it, and walls or roofs facing a road can raise planning questions. We’ll tell you what to check before we fit it.
Do I get paperwork after the visit?
Yes. It’s your proof of what was done: the date, the work, and any refrigerant added or recovered.
Which manufacturers do you install and repair?
The main ones, including Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi. For a new system, we suggest the make and model that suit the property and explain why.
How quickly will you reply?
The same working day. After that, we agree a survey, diagnosis or installation date that suits you, with a fixed price before work starts.
Why use an F-Gas certified company?
Certification shows a business is approved to work on systems that hold F gas refrigerant. In Great Britain, that certification is a legal requirement, not an optional extra, and AirCon Doctor is certified.
