How air conditioning works in RM13

Think of it as diagnose, treat and sign off: the survey diagnoses what the rooms need, the installation is the treatment and commissioning is the sign-off. At sign-off, the system is tested in each mode, the controls are explained and the F-Gas records are left with you. The work covers air-to-air heat pumps, wall-mounted split systems and multi-split systems, and common reasons people get in touch are bedrooms and offices that overheat in summer and old electric heaters you’d like to replace with something more efficient.

Everything the job needs comes with us, from tools and test equipment to ladders and dust sheets. All we ask is clear access to the units, or to where they’ll go, and to the consumer unit. On site, the work takes a day or more, depending on the number of rooms, the pipe routes and the access.

  1. We survey the rooms and the outside of the property, or work from photos and details for simple jobs.
  2. Each room is sized and you get a fixed-price quote setting out the equipment and the unit positions.
  3. Brackets go on, the units are hung and the refrigerant lines, cable and drain are routed between them.
  4. Once the electrics are connected, the pipework is tested for leaks and put under vacuum before any refrigerant flows.
  5. We commission the system, show you the controls and leave the F-Gas records and the manufacturer’s warranty details.

How we quote

What you pay depends on the type of system and how many units are involved, the access and the parts and time the job needs. We give you a fixed price before work begins, so there are no surprises.

What you get with us

  • We work on all the leading brands
  • Manufacturer’s warranty terms explained on your quote
  • Every job looked at before it’s priced
  • NICEIC approved electrical contractors

Ask for a quote

Quoting starts with a diagnosis, from a site survey or, where the job is straightforward, from photos and measurements. After that, we send a fixed price before any work starts.

Near you in Rainham

Locally, jobs take us to houses, flats and workplaces close to Rainham Village Primary School, Harris Academy Rainham and The Chafford School. Other local landmarks include Wildspace Conservation Park (1 mile south), Church of St Helen and St Giles (under half a mile west) and The Phoenix pub (under half a mile west). There’s a railway station in Rainham itself: Rainham (Essex) station. Nearby you’ll also find St George's Hospital (2.3 miles north-east) and Erith Museum (2.6 miles south). Not far away are Ingrebourne Marshes.

Where we install in RM13

Across RM13, from Dagenham, Elm Park and Rainham to the villages, homes range from older terraces and cottages to new estates and flats. We survey every property before we quote, then a fixed-price quote.

Refrigerant work is done by F-gas qualified engineers for a certified company, and the electrics come under our NICEIC approval, in RM13 as everywhere else.

Rainham: About 0.2 miles west stands Rainham Hall. Listed homes in any area need consent first, so tell us if yours is one. Close to Rainham (Essex) station? A small study or box room used for work can normally be cooled with a single indoor unit.

Managing agents and facilities teams in RM13

Whether it’s one property or many, you get the same standard: a look at the job first, a fixed-price quote, work booked with the occupier and written records afterwards.

Facilities teams in offices, schools and public buildings book us too across Greater London. Work can be phased by floor, zone or building around the people who use them.

Fixed-price quotes for air conditioning in RM13

Some jobs are bigger than they look, and some smaller. The main factors:

  • How many units are involved
  • Whether it’s a one-off job or part of a maintenance contract
  • The electrical supply and whether a new circuit is needed
  • How easy the units are to reach

The pipe route, the height of the units and how we reach them all affect the cost. We take each of them into account, and the price is fixed before any work starts.

Helping us quote

What to send for a quote:

  • A few pictures of the room and the wall the unit is on, or will go on
  • A close-up of the unit’s label showing the model number
  • Any error code or flashing light on the display
  • Where the outdoor unit is, or where you’d like it

For air conditioning in RM13, call 07833 053749 or drop us a line. Tell us what kind of property it is and what you’d like done, and send a few photos if you can. We reply the same working day.

What air conditioning cannot fix

We’d rather tell you now than sell you work that will not help, so here are the limits:

  • Heat loss through very poor insulation (a system will heat the room, but insulation is a separate job)
  • A lack of fresh air (most split systems recirculate room air rather than bringing fresh air in, which is a job for ventilation)
  • Damp from leaks or a lack of ventilation

Looking after it afterwards

A little care keeps the system in better shape. Our advice:

  • Wash or vacuum the filters as the manual describes
  • Have the system serviced once a year
  • Close windows and doors while the system is cooling
  • Keep the outdoor unit clear of leaves, plants and clutter

Questions after the installation go to the same number. Let us know what’s happening and any error code, and we’ll talk it through with you.

Keep the outdoor unit clear. Anything piled against it, from leaves to garden furniture, reduces the airflow, and the system has to work harder as a result.

RM13: your questions answered

Can I do the refrigerant work myself?

Not the refrigerant work. The F-gas rules require certified companies and qualified engineers for it, and a new electrical circuit is notifiable building work unless a registered competent person does it.

Why use an F-Gas certified company?

The law says any company working on equipment containing F gas has to be certified, and the engineers need their own qualifications. It’s how you know the refrigerant is being handled legally and safely.

Does air conditioning need its own electrical supply?

Most systems need their own supply from the consumer unit. Under Part P, a new circuit has to be notified unless a registered competent person does it, and we are NICEIC approved, so we can install and certify it.

Which manufacturers do you install and repair?

Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Hitachi and others. For new systems, we recommend a brand and model to suit the job and explain why.

How soon will you get back to me?

The same working day. Then we agree a date that works for you, with a fixed price before work starts.

Should I choose wall-mounted, ducted or cassette?

Number of rooms, space outside and how much of the unit you want to see all decide it. Ducted systems need a ceiling void or loft, and cassettes need a suspended ceiling and the survey confirms what’s possible.

How long will the installation take?

A single-room system is usually fitted in a day. Multi-room and ducted systems take longer, depending on the pipe routes and access and the quote says how long to expect.
