Air conditioning across RM2: what to expect

We fit wall-mounted splits, multi-split systems, ducted systems and ceiling cassettes, with VRF for larger buildings. Which one suits you depends on the space, the building and how much of the unit you want to see and we talk you through it on the survey. The work covers ducted systems, air-to-air heat pumps and wall-mounted split systems, and people most often call us about bedrooms and offices that overheat in summer and an office, shop or restaurant that’s uncomfortable for staff and customers.

Testing is the last part of the visit wherever the system can be switched on. Then we show you what we’ve done and answer any questions, and anything that needs attention later is pointed out. The visit takes a day or more, depending on the number of rooms, the pipe routes and the access.

  1. Diagnosis comes first, with a survey of the rooms, outside space and fuse board.
  2. Then the prescription: the right system and size for each room, on a fixed-price quote.
  3. The treatment: units fitted, pipework and drain routed, and the electrics installed.
  4. Testing: the circuit is pressure tested and evacuated before the refrigerant is released.
  5. Finally, the clean bill of health: commissioning, the controls explained and your paperwork handed over.

Pricing in RM2

How to get a quote

Here’s what helps us quote: the address and the type of property, photos of the rooms or units, the make and model of any existing system and any symptoms, from error codes to drips. Once you have those, call us on 07833 053749, or email if that’s easier.

Air conditioning across RM2

Our air conditioning work across RM2 takes in places such as Romford, Harold Wood and Gallows Corner and the smaller places around them. We cover every place we list for RM2, 7 in all.

Refrigerant work is done by F-gas qualified engineers for a certified company, and the electrics come under our NICEIC approval, in RM2 as everywhere else.

Ardleigh Green: If your home is in one of the older streets near All Saints, it’s worth checking whether it’s listed or in a conservation area before an install. If you work from home near Gidea Park station, a home office that overheats is one of the easiest rooms to cool.

Pricing air conditioning in RM2

Your quote is based on your property. We take into account:

  • The type of system, from a single split to a larger system
  • The pipe route between the units
  • What electrical work the job needs
  • The brand, model and parts involved

Putting several jobs into one visit often makes better use of the time. Mention every unit or room you need covered, and you will get one fixed price.

What we need to know

What to send for a quote:

  • The fuse board and where it is in the property
  • Where the property is and what kind of building it is
  • The outdoor side of the property, including any roof or flat area
  • Your installation or service records

Photos are enough for some jobs; others need a visit first. Multi-room systems, commercial buildings and anything with a long or hidden pipe route are normally surveyed first. Either way, you get a fixed price before any work is booked.

Why it fails

Computers, screens, lighting and people all give off heat. A small office or a busy room can warm up fast with equipment and people in it, even when it is not especially hot outside.

Common reasons people call us include:

  • A home office that warms up with screens and equipment
  • A loft room or top floor that bakes in summer
  • Rooms heated by plug-in heaters
  • A system on old refrigerant that is due for replacement

Different systems, different jobs

Pipework and condensate drains

Cooling produces water as the air is dried, and the condensate drain carries it away. If gravity will not do it, a condensate pump is fitted, and we plan that on the survey.

Electrical supply

A dedicated circuit is normally needed. As NICEIC approved contractors, we install it and issue the certificate, which takes care of the Part P notification.

Why deal with it now?

New systems now use lower-impact refrigerants. From 2025, single splits under 3 kg can’t use refrigerants with a GWP over 750, which is why R32, with a GWP of 675, is now common. R410A, used in many older systems, has a GWP of 2088.

Questions to ask before you book

  • Proof of F-Gas company certification
  • What the manufacturer’s warranty covers and for how long
  • If the quote is based on a survey, pictures or a diagnosis
  • How VAT is shown, and which rate applies

Questions from RM2

Which accreditations do you hold?

As the law requires for refrigerant work, we are an F-Gas certified company. NICEIC approval, MCS certification for heat pumps and Checkatrade membership sit alongside it.

Will you work on another installer’s system?

Yes. We start with a proper look and tell you honestly what we find, including anything about the original installation that needs putting right. You get a fixed price before any work goes ahead.

Do I need planning permission?

Sometimes. The rules differ for heat pumps and cooling-only air conditioning, and for houses, flats, listed buildings and conservation areas. We flag anything that may need permission when we survey, and the council has the final say. This is general information, not legal advice.

Which brands do you work with?

We install and work on the leading makes, from Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin and Fujitsu to Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi. Send us the make and model if you have it.

Can we book visits on a schedule?

Yes. Tell us what you have and how it’s used, and we’ll suggest a schedule with a fixed price. That can include the leak checks the F-gas rules require for larger systems.

How do you size the system?

Floor area is only part of it. Windows, the direction the room faces, the roof above and the people and equipment in it all count and the survey covers each of them.

When will I hear back?

On the same working day you contact us. Then we agree a date that works for you, and you get a fixed price before any work goes ahead.
