How air conditioning works in RG26
The best installations are planned before a single hole is drilled. Each room is assessed for its size, windows, direction and how it’s used, then agree where the indoor and outdoor units go and how the pipework, cable and condensate drain will run before you get a fixed-price quote. The work covers wall-mounted split systems, VRF systems and air-to-air heat pumps, and people most often call us about commercial rooms that are too warm for staff and old electric heaters you’d like to replace with something more efficient.
On the day, we arrive at the time agreed with you and run through the plan before anything else. Floors and furniture near the work are covered with dust sheets, and anything electrical is made safe before work starts. The work itself takes a day for most single-room installations, with multi-split, ducted and cassette systems taking longer.
- We survey the property, or work from your pictures for a simple job.
- The system is sized, positions are agreed and the price is fixed.
- Sheets go down first, then the indoor unit and the condenser are mounted.
- Pipework, cable and drain are run, the circuit is connected and the pipework is pressure tested and evacuated.
- We commission, show you the controls and leave the F-Gas and warranty paperwork.
Pricing in RG26
The cost depends on the type of system and how many units are involved, the access and what the work involves. We give you a fixed price before any work starts, so you know where you stand.

Air conditioning across RG26: local notes
Our air conditioning work across RG26 takes in places such as Tadley, Rooksdown and Bramley and the smaller places around them. Every place on our RG26 list (23 in all) is covered.
RG26 is within the area we cover from our base in East Grinstead. Each job starts with a survey and a fixed-price quote.
Tadley: If your home is in one of the older streets near Saint Mary's Church, it’s worth checking whether it’s listed or in a conservation area before an install. The Vyne (roughly 4 miles south-east) shows the area has its share of heritage. A listed home needs consent before an outdoor unit or pipework goes on.
When something else is needed
An honest diagnosis matters more to us than a booking, so here’s what this work can’t put right:
- A lack of fresh air (most split systems recirculate room air rather than bringing fresh air in, which is a job for ventilation)
- Building damp that has a structural cause
- Work that needs permission from a landlord or the council
Owner checks or an engineer?
For air conditioning, cleaning the indoor unit’s filters is the main job owners can do, if the manual says so. They come out, get a gentle clean and go back only when they’re dry. For a heat pump, the main owner jobs are a clear outdoor unit and sensible control settings.
Leave the units and pipework where they are. Disconnecting a system means dealing with refrigerant, which only a qualified engineer can do, and the electrics need care too. If you need something moved, we can quote for it.
What affects the cost of air conditioning
The diagnosis comes before the price. We look at:
- The type of system, from a single split to a larger system
- What electrical work the job needs
- Access, including height, roofs and ladders
- How far the pipework has to run, and where
Every job is different, so we price each one individually. The system, the access, the pipe routes and the parts involved all make a difference.
What we need to know
Photos let us diagnose from a distance. The most useful are:
- The address and the type of property
- A few photos of the room and the wall the unit is on, or will go on
- The rating plate or label on any existing unit
- Any previous service or F-Gas records
Our prices page gives typical ranges, but your quote is based on your job, because no two buildings, rooms or systems are the same. Once we have looked at the job, from photos or on a survey, you get a fixed price. To get going, phone 07833 053749 or send an email.
Rented and managed buildings
Larger air conditioning systems in buildings need more than servicing: a TM44 inspection by an accredited energy assessor is required at least every 5 years for systems over 12 kW. We arrange the inspection, get the system ready and put right anything it picks up.
We work for landlords, letting agents and managing agents as well as homeowners and businesses. Tell us who the contact on site is and who should receive the paperwork and we’ll copy in whoever needs it.
Questions from RG26
Will you work on another installer’s system?
Yes. We look at it first and tell you what we find, including any issues with how it was fitted. You get a fixed price before any work goes ahead.
Should I choose wall-mounted, ducted or cassette?
The right one depends on how many rooms you want to cool, how much space there is outside and how visible you want the indoor units to be. Ducted systems need a ceiling void or loft, and cassettes need a suspended ceiling and the survey confirms what’s possible.
How much is air conditioning for one room?
Single-room systems start from £1,200 + VAT and are typically up to £2,200 + VAT. That covers supply, installation, commissioning and the F-Gas paperwork and is fixed after a survey or from pictures.
Do you offer emergency call-outs?
Yes, any time. If something urgent happens, like water coming from a unit or a critical room overheating, call our 24/7 line and we’ll agree what happens next.
What size air conditioning unit do I need?
Floor area is only part of it. Glazing, orientation, the roof and what goes on in the room all affect it, and we take them all into account on the survey.
Can air conditioning heat my home as well?
Most of the time, yes: modern splits are normally heat pumps, so they can heat a room in winter. The Energy Saving Trust points out that an air-to-air heat pump is often just called air conditioning. We confirm the heating function of the model we quote.
How does the warranty work?
Warranty is the manufacturer’s own, on its terms. Each brand sets its own conditions and periods, so we explain them on your quote.
