Air conditioning in RG21: how it works
Thinking about air conditioning but not sure where to start? Send a few pictures of the rooms and the outside walls when you call 07833 053749 or drop us a line, and you will hear back from us the same working day about a survey or a fixed-price quote. We’re often asked to deal with an office, shop or restaurant that’s uncomfortable for staff and customers and fans and portables that don’t keep up, across multi-split systems, VRF systems and air-to-air heat pumps.
Our engineers bring the tools, gauges and access equipment the job needs. You only need to give us clear access to the units, or their planned positions, and to the fuse board. On site, the work takes a day for most single-room installations, with multi-split, ducted and cassette systems taking longer.
- First comes a site survey, or photos and measurements for a straightforward job.
- We size the system for each room, then send a fixed-price quote with the units and where they go.
- On the day, we fit the indoor and outdoor units and run the pipework, cable and condensate drain.
- We connect the supply, pressure test the pipework and evacuate it before the refrigerant is released.
- Finally, it’s commissioned, tested in each mode and handed over with the F-Gas records.

Landmarks near Oakridge
In Oakridge, that means homes and buildings near The Costello School, Oakridge Junior School and Eastrop Park. Also close by are The Vyne Community School (under half a mile north), The Rising Sun pub (under half a mile south-west) and Ruins Of Chapel Of The Holy Trinity (within half a mile south). There’s a railway station in Oakridge itself: Basingstoke station. A little further out are Basing House (1.6 miles east) and Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital (1.1 miles north-west). Not far away are Farleigh Hill and Daneshill Park Woods.
Air conditioning around RG21
In RG21, we install in places such as Basingstoke, Popley and Oakridge and well beyond. We cover every place we list for RG21, 7 in all.
Refrigerant work is done by F-gas qualified engineers for a certified company, and the electrics come under our NICEIC approval.
Oakridge: If you commute from Basingstoke station and work from home on other days, one wall-mounted unit in the home office is often all that is needed. Living close to Ruins Of Chapel Of The Holy Trinity? Some older properties in parts like that are protected, and the survey finds out whether yours is.
Before you call an engineer
Good habits make our visits easier, not unnecessary. Clean filters and a clear outdoor unit help the system run as it should, but the inside of the units, the refrigerant and the electrics still need a qualified engineer.
Never try to top up, release or handle refrigerant yourself. Under the F-gas rules, engineers need their own qualifications and the company must be certified, and refrigerant lines can cause cold burns. If you suspect a leak, switch the system off and call us.
When something else is needed
Before booking, it helps to know what’s not included:
- An installation that needs consent nobody has given yet
- Central heating repairs
- Stuffy rooms that need fresh air rather than cooling
For landlords and property managers
Running several properties is easier with one contractor. We work across London and the South East, so a run of properties can go into one programme and kept on a regular cycle.
The F-gas rules share responsibility for leak checking between the equipment’s operator and the service technicians. Where a building is let or managed, the lease or contract should make clear who looks after the system and we’re happy to deal with whoever it is.
Fixed-price quotes for air conditioning in RG21
Your quote is based on your property. We take into account:
- Whether it’s a simple split or a larger system
- How far the pipework has to run, and where
- A single visit or a regular plan
- What state the existing equipment is in
Every job is different, so each one gets its own fixed-price quote. The system, the access, the pipe routes and the parts involved all play a part.
Asking for a quote
When you contact us, it’s useful to have:
- The postcode and whether it’s a home, flat or business
- Your installation or service records
- The outside wall, roof or yard where the outdoor unit sits or would go
- The rating plate or label on any existing unit
Getting a quote is straightforward. Send a few details and photos, and we reply the same working day. Where a survey is needed, we arrange a time that suits you.
Questions from RG21
Does air conditioning work as heating?
Most of the time, yes. Running as a heat pump, it moves heat in from outside rather than making it from electricity alone. If you want it to replace your main heating, ask about air-to-air heat pumps and the conditions for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant.
Can you set up regular servicing?
Yes. Tell us what you have and how it’s used and we’ll propose a schedule and quote for it. That can include the leak checks the F-gas rules require for larger systems.
Do I need a new electrical circuit?
Most systems need their own supply from the consumer unit. Adding a new circuit is notifiable building work under Part P unless it’s done by a registered competent person, and we are NICEIC approved, so we can install and certify it.
How does the warranty work?
Warranty is the manufacturer’s own, on its terms. Each brand sets its own conditions and periods, so we explain them on your quote.
Do I get paperwork after the visit?
Yes, on every job. New installations come with commissioning details, F-Gas records and warranty information, while repairs and services get a written note of what was found and done.
Why does F-Gas certification matter?
F-Gas certification shows a company is approved to work on equipment containing fluorinated gases, such as the refrigerant in air conditioning and heat pumps. In Great Britain, that certification is a legal requirement, not an optional extra, and we hold it.
Do you work for landlords and businesses?
Yes. From a single let flat to offices, shops and public buildings, the approach is the same: a look first, a fixed-price quote and written records.
