About air conditioning in PO6
Thinking about air conditioning but not sure where to start? Send a few pictures of the rooms and the outside walls when you give us a ring on 07833 053749 or email us, and we’ll reply the same working day about a survey or a fixed-price quote. The work covers ceiling cassettes, wall-mounted split systems and VRF systems, and the jobs we see most are a loft conversion that’s too warm to use and working from home in a room that gets too warm.
Each visit runs to the same pattern: agree the plan on site, put the dust sheets down, do the work, test what we have done and explain it all to you. The visit itself takes anything from a day for one room to several days for a multi-room or ducted system.
- First the diagnosis: a survey of the rooms, the walls, the outside and the electrics.
- Then the prescription: the right system and size for each room, on a fixed-price quote.
- The treatment: units fitted, pipework and drain routed, and the electrics installed.
- Before it runs, the pipework is proved tight and put under vacuum.
- The sign-off: commissioning, a walk through the controls, and the F-Gas records and warranty details.
How we quote
Homes, offices, shops and public buildings are all priced the same way: the equipment, the access, the work involved and the time it takes. Ask for a fixed-price quote and we will go through it with you.

Get a fixed-price quote
Published ranges are a starting point; the quote is built on your property, because no two buildings, rooms or systems are the same. After a look at the job, by photos or a survey, the price is fixed. To get going, phone 07833 053749, or email if that’s easier.

Where we install in PO6
Across PO6, from Purbrook, Portchester and Hilsea to the villages, homes range from older terraces and cottages to new estates and flats. Each install starts with a survey of the rooms, the walls and where the outdoor unit can go, then a fixed-price quote.
PO6 is within the area we cover from our base in East Grinstead. Each job starts with a survey and a fixed-price quote. Near the coast in PO6, outdoor units last longer with shelter from sea wind and a yearly service, and some manufacturers offer corrosion-protected coils.
Portsmouth: Around St Wilfrid, a quick check of the listing and conservation maps is part of planning any install. Plenty of people near Fratton station split the week between the train and a spare room, and that spare room is often the first to get a unit.
After we have gone
Every system needs looking after, and most of it is easy. A few tips:
- Keep the handover documents somewhere safe
- Let filters dry fully before you put them back
- Use moderate settings for comfort and economy
- Close windows and doors while the system is cooling
We show you how to take the filters out and clean them. Clean them every few weeks when the system is in heavy use, following the manual, and keep space clear around the outdoor unit.
Clean the filters regularly, not just at the service. Blocked filters cut airflow and make the system work harder, which costs you more to run.
What you can do yourself, and what needs us
For air conditioning, cleaning the indoor unit’s filters is the main job owners can do, if the manual says so. They come out, get a gentle clean and go back only when they’re dry. On a heat pump, the equivalent is keeping the outdoor unit clear and checking the controls.
Write down what you notice: error codes, noises, drips, smells or a drop in performance. It makes our diagnosis quicker, and a photo of the display helps even more.
How we price air conditioning
Your quote is based on your property. We take into account:
- The brand, model and parts involved
- What we find on the survey or diagnosis
- The type of system, from a single split to a larger system
- The pipe route between the units
Putting several jobs into one visit often makes better use of the time. Tell us about everything you’d like looked at, and you will get one fixed price.
Helping us quote
The more you tell us, the more accurate the quote. When you get in touch, it helps to send:
- Where the property is and what kind of building it is
- The outside wall, roof or yard where the outdoor unit sits or would go
- Wide photos of the room or the existing unit
- A short video of any fault, such as a noise or a flashing light
For air conditioning in PO6, call 07833 053749 or use the quote form. Tell us what kind of property it is and what you’d like done, plus some pictures if they’re to hand. We reply the same working day.
When something else is needed
Before booking, it helps to know what’s not included:
- Damp or condensation caused by leaks or poor ventilation in the building (that needs the cause fixing)
- A room that can’t take an outdoor unit or pipe route without the landlord’s, management company’s or council’s consent (that consent comes first)
- A ventilation problem rather than a temperature problem
PO6: your questions answered
Do you look at the job first?
Yes. Every job is looked at first, on a survey, or from your photos and details where the job is simple. Then you get a fixed-price quote.
How soon will you get back to me?
On the same working day you contact us. Then we agree a date that works for you, and you get a fixed price before any work goes ahead.
Where will you put the outdoor unit?
It can go on a wall bracket, at ground level or on a flat roof, wherever the pipe route, airflow and servicing access work best. We also think about noise near bedrooms and neighbours, and the position can affect planning.
Do you provide F-Gas records?
Yes. You get a written record of every visit, and any work on the refrigerant circuit goes in the F-Gas records. Keep them with the manual and the warranty documents.
Which accreditations do you hold?
F-Gas certified, NICEIC approved and MCS certified for heat pumps, and we’re Checkatrade members. Engineers who handle refrigerant hold their own F-gas qualifications as well.
What does F-Gas certified mean?
F-Gas certification shows a company is approved to work on equipment containing fluorinated gases, such as the refrigerant in air conditioning and heat pumps. That is not optional: it’s required by law, and AirCon Doctor is certified.
What size air conditioning unit do I need?
Floor area is only part of it. Windows, the direction the room faces, the roof above and the people and equipment in it all count and the survey covers each of them.
