About air conditioning in PO2
Good air conditioning starts with the right system in the right place. We look at each room’s size, glazing, orientation and use, then agree where the indoor and outdoor units go and how the pipework, cable and condensate drain will run, all before the price is fixed. The work covers wall-mounted split systems, multi-split systems and air-to-air heat pumps, and people most often call us about rooms that get too hot to sleep or work in and a loft room or top floor that bakes in summer.
The visit has three parts, a bit like a doctor’s appointment: diagnose, treat and sign off. First comes a careful look at the system or the space, then the work itself, and finally everything is tested, recorded and explained. The middle part takes longest, which takes a day for most single-room installations, with multi-split, ducted and cassette systems taking longer.
- We survey the rooms and the outside of the property, or work from photos and details for simple jobs.
- You receive one fixed figure covering the kit, the fitting and the positions we agreed.
- On the day, we fit the indoor and outdoor units and run the pipework, cable and condensate drain.
- Power is wired in, the joints are proved leak-tight under pressure and a vacuum pump draws out air and moisture.
- The system is commissioned and checked in every mode, and we hand over the controls, F-Gas records and warranty information.

Air conditioning across PO2: local notes
In PO2, as across England, the same permitted development rules apply: cooling-only units aren’t covered, listed buildings need consent and conservation areas restrict outdoor units facing a road.
From London flats to coastal homes and country cottages, London and the South East have every kind of property. Our work is F-Gas certified, NICEIC approved for the electrics and MCS certified for heat pumps. Parts of PO2 are on or near the coast, where salt air is hard on outdoor units. We choose positions and fixings with that in mind.
Hilsea: Around St Francis' Church, a quick check of the listing and conservation maps is part of planning any install. Warblington Castle (roughly 4.7 miles east) shows the area has its share of heritage. A listed home needs consent before an outdoor unit or pipework goes on.
What air conditioning cannot fix
A few issues sit outside what this work can do:
- Gas boiler or central heating faults (we do not work on gas boilers)
- Damp from leaks or a lack of ventilation
- Draughts and missing insulation
Managing agents and facilities teams in PO2
Under the GB F-gas rules, responsibility for leak checks is shared between whoever operates the equipment and the engineers who work on it. In a let or managed building, it’s worth agreeing who that operator is and we are happy to deal with whoever it is.
Managing agents often deal with us directly. Tell us the property, the work and the access arrangements, and we will send a fixed-price quote.
Before you call an engineer
Keep a note of anything odd: error codes, noises, drips, smells or a drop in performance. It helps us diagnose quickly, and a photo or a short video of the display is even better.
There are a few things you can safely do yourself: keeping the outdoor unit clear, checking the mode and set temperature, and the routine cleaning in the manual. Opening up the units, the electrics and the refrigerant circuit are a job for us.
Fixed-price quotes for air conditioning in PO2
Your quote is based on your property. We take into account:
- The condition of any existing system
- Whether it’s a one-off job or part of a maintenance contract
- Whether we need access equipment for high-level work
- The brand, model and parts involved
What you pay depends on the type of system and how many units are involved, how easy the units are to reach and the parts and time the job needs. We give you a fixed price before work begins, so there are no surprises.
Asking for a quote
What to send for a quote:
- A short video of any fault, such as a noise or a flashing light
- The rating plate or label on any existing unit
- The address and the type of property
- A photo of the consumer unit with the cover closed
Our prices page gives typical ranges, but your quote is based on your job, because no two buildings, rooms or systems are the same. After a look at the job, by pictures or a survey, the price is fixed. To start, ring 07833 053749 or write to us at info@aircondoctor.co.uk.
Your questions about air conditioning in PO2
How do you size the system?
Sizing is done on the survey, room by room. Too small, and it runs flat out; too big, and it switches on and off and wastes energy, so we explain why we have chosen a particular output.
How long does it take to fit air conditioning?
Allow a day or more, depending on the number of rooms, the pipe routes and the access. The survey tells us how long your installation will need, so you can plan around it.
How much is air conditioning for one room?
Single-room systems start from £1,200 + VAT and are typically up to £2,200 + VAT. That covers supply, installation, commissioning and the F-Gas paperwork and is fixed after a survey or from pictures.
How do you keep the place clean during the work?
We put dust sheets over floors and furniture near the work first, and the area is kept tidy throughout. At the end, we clear up and show you what we have done.
Can I fit air conditioning or a heat pump myself?
No, not the refrigerant side. The F-gas rules require certified companies and qualified engineers for it, and a new electrical circuit is notifiable building work unless a registered competent person does it.
Do you work for landlords and businesses?
Yes. From one rented home to commercial buildings, the approach is the same: survey or diagnosis, a fixed price and proper paperwork.
Can you set up regular servicing?
Yes. Send details of the systems and how they’re used, and we will suggest a schedule with a fixed price. That can include the leak checks the F-gas rules require for larger systems.
