Air conditioning in PO9

Air conditioning installation, repair, servicing and heat pumps in PO9, from our base in East Grinstead.

How air conditioning works in PO9

A new system normally needs a dedicated circuit from the fuse board. Under Part P, a new circuit is notifiable unless a registered competent person does it, and as NICEIC approved contractors we can install and certify it as part of the job. The work covers wall-mounted split systems, ceiling cassettes and ducted systems, and people most often call us about a loft room or top floor that bakes in summer and a portable unit with a hose out of the window.

Where something has to be switched off during the work, we agree it with you first, so you can plan around it. For businesses, we can normally work room by room or zone by zone. The work takes about a day for a single-room system, longer for multi-room and ducted systems.

  1. Diagnosis comes first, with a survey of the rooms, outside space and fuse board.
  2. Next, a recommendation for each room and a fixed price.
  3. The treatment: units fitted, pipework and drain routed, and the electrics installed.
  4. Checks: a pressure test for leaks, then a vacuum to clear moisture.
  5. Finally, the clean bill of health: commissioning, the controls explained and your paperwork handed over.

What you will pay

Putting several jobs into one visit often makes better use of the time. Mention every unit or room you need covered and we will price it together.

Why book with us

  • We diagnose before we treat
  • Warranty terms set out brand by brand

How to get a quote

Quotes do not take long. Send a few details and pictures, and we reply the same working day. If we need to see the property first, we book a survey at a time that works for you.

Landmarks near Havant

Typical jobs here are in properties near St Francis, Havant College and St Albans Church, among other places. Nearby too are Trosnant Infant School (less than half a mile south) and The Perseverance pub (0.7 miles south). The closest station to Havant is Havant station, roughly 0.6 miles south. A little further out are Havant War Memorial Hospital (0.6 miles south) and Havant Museum (0.9 miles south-east). Not far away are Southmoor Nature Reserve.

Air conditioning around PO9

Planning rules are the same across England, PO9 included: an air-to-air system that heats as well as cools can be permitted development on a house, but cooling-only units, listed buildings and outdoor units facing a road in conservation areas need more care.

Across London and the South East, we reply to enquiries the same working day, with a 24/7 emergency line for breakdowns. Parts of PO9 are on or near the coast, where salt air is hard on outdoor units. Outdoor unit position and regular servicing both help near the sea.

Havant: With historic houses such as Warblington Castle about 1.5 miles south-east, it’s a reminder that older homes nearby may be listed, which changes the planning rules. Close to Havant station? A small study or box room used for work can usually be cooled with a single indoor unit.

Different systems, different jobs

Wall-mounted split systems

Bedrooms, offices and living spaces are where wall-mounted units are most often fitted. The unit goes where it spreads the air well and the filters are easy to reach, and away from where the air would blow straight onto people.

Electrical supply

The fuse board is looked at during the survey, so any extra electrical work is on the quote rather than a surprise on the day. An older board may need extra work, and we explain why if so.

Keeping the system healthy

After the visit, a few habits help:

  • Refit filters properly after cleaning
  • Wash or vacuum the filters as the manual describes
  • Use moderate settings for comfort and economy
  • Keep to the service interval the manufacturer recommends

Commissioning is the last stage: every mode is tested before we go. We check it’s running as the manufacturer intends, then show you the controls and the timer, so you are confident using it.

Have the system serviced once a year. A service cleans what you can’t reach and picks up faults before they stop the system and keeps the warranty paperwork right where servicing is a condition.

Pricing air conditioning in PO9

Some jobs are bigger than they look, and some smaller. What affects the quote:

  • A single visit or a regular plan
  • Whether it’s a simple split or a larger system
  • Which make and model is being fitted or worked on
  • How many units are involved

Our prices page shows typical ranges, but your price depends on the job in front of us. Call for a fixed-price quote, and we will talk you through it.

Asking for a quote

Photos let us diagnose from a distance. Try to include:

  • A close-up of the unit’s label showing the model number
  • Where the outdoor unit is, or where you’d like it
  • Your installation or service records
  • Your consumer unit or fuse board

For air conditioning in PO9, phone 07833 053749 or use the quote form. Tell us what kind of property it is and what you’d like done, plus some photos if they’re to hand. Enquiries get a reply the same working day.

What happens if it’s left?

The best time to plan air conditioning is before the hot weather, not during it. When people buy in a hurry, the unit is often the wrong size or badly placed, and that is hard to put right later. A survey now gives time to choose properly.

Comparing quotes

  • If the quote is based on a survey, pictures or a diagnosis
  • Whether the quote is a fixed price
  • Whether testing, commissioning and paperwork are included
  • What the manufacturer’s warranty covers and for how long

PO9 questions

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. Homeowners, landlords, agents and businesses all book us across London and the South East. Tell us who should receive the paperwork.

Which accreditations do you hold?

We’re an F-Gas certified company, NICEIC approved for electrical work and MCS certified for heat pumps. We’re members of Checkatrade too.

Do you look at the job first?

Yes. We always look before we price, on a survey, or from your pictures and details where the job is simple. Then you get a fixed-price quote.

Whose job is it to check the system for leaks?

The F-gas rules share it between the equipment’s operator and the engineers who work on it. How often depends on the size of the refrigerant charge in tonnes of CO2 equivalent: at least yearly for 5 to under 50 tCO2e, and every 6 months for 50 to under 500 tCO2e.

Is the equipment covered by a warranty?

Warranty is the manufacturer’s own, on its terms. Each brand sets its own conditions and periods, so we explain them on your quote.

Where does the outdoor unit go?

Wall brackets, ground level and flat roofs are all options, wherever the pipe route, airflow and servicing access work best. We also think about noise near bedrooms and neighbours and position can affect planning.

How do you size the system?

We size each room on the survey, from its size, glazing, orientation and use. An undersized unit never catches up, and an oversized one cycles and wastes energy, so we explain why we have chosen a particular output.
