Our air conditioning service in PO5
Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi are among the brands we fit. The survey ends with a recommendation and the reasons for it, and the manufacturer’s warranty terms are set out on your quote. The work covers VRF systems, wall-mounted split systems and ducted systems, and common reasons people get in touch are a loft conversion that’s too warm to use and bedrooms and offices that overheat in summer.
Think of the visit in three stages: diagnose, treat and sign off. First we check the system or the space against the plan, then the work itself, and finally we test, record and explain. Most of the time goes on the middle part, and that takes anything from a day for one room to several days for a multi-room or ducted system.
- Diagnosis comes first, with a survey of the rooms, outside space and fuse board.
- Next, a recommendation for each room and a fixed price.
- The treatment: units fitted, pipework and drain routed, and the electrics installed.
- Testing: the circuit is pressure tested and evacuated before the refrigerant is released.
- The sign-off: commissioning, a walk through the controls, and the F-Gas records and warranty details.
What affects the price in PO5
A single unit or a whole estate, we price it on the same basis: the work involved, the access and the equipment. You will have a fixed price before we start, and the quote sets out the VAT.

Getting a quote
Want a quote for air conditioning? Please phone 07833 053749, or email if that’s easier and tell us about the job. We’ll explain what we’d recommend and why, then send a fixed-price quote before you commit to anything.
Local landmarks in Southsea
In Southsea, that means homes and buildings near St Edmund's Catholic School, Mayville High School and St Margaret of Scotland. Other local landmarks include Craneswater Junior School (less than half a mile north-west) and The Festing pub (less than half a mile north). For rail, the closest station is Fratton station, roughly 0.8 miles north of the centre. Other landmarks nearby include St. Mary's Hospital (1 mile north) and Southsea Castle (1 mile south-west). For a walk, there’s Milton Locks.
Air conditioning across PO5
Planning rules are the same across England, PO5 included: cooling-only units are not covered, listed buildings need consent and conservation areas restrict outdoor units facing a road.
Message us from anywhere in PO5 and you’ll hear back the same working day. For a breakdown, use the 24/7 line. Parts of PO5 are on or near the coast, where salt air is hard on outdoor units. We choose positions and fixings with that in mind.
Southsea: If you work from home near Fratton station, a home office that overheats is one of the easiest rooms to cool. Living close to St Margaret of Scotland? Some older properties in parts like that are protected, and the survey finds out whether yours is.
When something else is needed
We will not sell you work that does not address the problem, so these are the things it won’t cover:
- A room that cannot take an outdoor unit or pipe route without the landlord’s, management company’s or council’s consent (that consent comes first)
- A building fabric problem such as single glazing or no loft insulation
- Central heating repairs
System by system
Wall-mounted split systems
Bedrooms, offices and living spaces are where wall-mounted units are most often fitted. We choose the position for even airflow and easy filter access rather than blowing straight at the bed or desk.
Multi-split systems
With a multi-split, one outdoor unit serves two or more rooms. It saves wall space outside and suits homes where several rooms need cooling, with each room controlled separately.
Looking after your system
Here’s the after-treatment advice, short and simple:
- Let filters dry fully before you put them back
- Leave space around the outdoor unit
- Shut doors and windows when it’s on
- File the paperwork with the manual
If anything isn’t right after we have gone, call us on the same number. Tell us what the system is doing, and any code on the display and we’ll help you sort it out.
Keep the outdoor unit clear. Anything piled against it, from leaves to garden furniture, reduces the airflow, and the system has to work harder as a result.
What affects the quote in PO5
Our prices page gives typical ranges, but every job is priced on its own. What we look at:
- Access, including height, roofs and ladders
- What electrical work the job needs
- One-off work versus a regular service cycle
- What we find on the survey or diagnosis
Several rooms, units or sites on one quote can make for a more efficient booking. Tell us about everything you’d like looked at, and you’ll get one fixed price.
Helping us quote
Simple jobs can often be priced from photos and some basics. Send what you can of the following:
- The paperwork from the last service, if you have it
- A close-up of the unit’s label showing the model number
- The postcode and whether it’s a home, flat or business
- The remote or wall controller showing any error
Every quote shows the VAT clearly, with the rate that applies to your job. VAT can differ between homes and businesses and between kinds of work, so we confirm it in writing rather than guess. For a fixed-price quote, ring 07833 053749 or write to us at info@aircondoctor.co.uk.
PO5: your questions answered
Why does F-Gas certification matter?
Anyone installing, repairing or servicing the refrigerant side must be qualified, and their company certified. Ask to see proof before booking anyone, and we’re happy to show ours.
Is there a survey before the work?
Yes. We always look before we price, either on a site survey or from pictures and details for simple jobs. A fixed-price quote follows.
Will you need to do electrical work?
Usually, yes. We check your consumer unit on the survey and include any electrical work on the quote and we install and certify the circuit as NICEIC approved contractors.
Can I have air conditioning in a flat?
It depends on the building and the lease. An outdoor unit can sometimes go on a balcony, roof or rear wall, with consent and the survey looks at every option. This is general information, not legal advice.
Can the outdoor unit go on a roof or at ground level?
The position is agreed on the survey, not on the day. It needs space around it to breathe and room for an engineer to service it, and walls or roofs facing a road can raise planning questions. We will tell you what to check before we fit it.
Do you work on commercial properties?
Yes. From one rented home to commercial buildings, we work the same way: survey or diagnosis, a fixed price and proper paperwork.
How do you size the system?
We size each room on the survey, from its size, glazing, orientation and use. Too small, and it runs flat out; too big, and it switches on and off and wastes energy and we explain the output we recommend.
