For anyone managing more than one building, we can quote and plan the work across all of them. Every address has its own paperwork, so each one has its own history.

Air source heat pumps for homes and businesses in Send

Until 31 March 2027, a heat pump installed in residential accommodation carries 0% VAT, with 5% from 1 April 2027. That follows HMRC Notice 708/6, and it does not apply to businesses, and for air-to-air systems we confirm the VAT on your quote. Please treat this as general information rather than tax advice. The work covers hot water cylinders, homes heated by oil, LPG or gas and air-to-water heat pumps, and common reasons people get in touch are checking whether planning permission is needed and a boiler that’s getting old.

Cottages and older homes near Send can lose heat faster, which a heat loss calculation will show. Sometimes insulation first is the better investment.

Warranty on the equipment is the manufacturer’s own, on the manufacturer’s terms, and we set them out on your quote. Terms differ from brand to brand, and we are happy to talk you through them.

Send: your questions answered

Is the heat pump grant available in Send?

Send is in England, where the Boiler Upgrade Scheme runs. Whether your home qualifies, and for how much, depends on the type of heat pump and the heating it replaces. We hold MCS certification, so the application is ours to make for you.

Do you cover Send for air source heat pumps?

Yes, Send is within the area we cover. Just ring us on 07833 053749 or write to us at info@aircondoctor.co.uk with a few details.

Will skipping a service affect the warranty?

It can, for some brands. Send us the make and model and we will tell you what the manufacturer expects and stick to the interval they set.

How do you keep the place clean during the work?

Floors and furniture near the work are covered with dust sheets before any work starts, and we tidy up as we go. At the end, we clear up and show you what we’ve done.

How long will it take to install a heat pump?

An installation takes from a couple of days to around a week, depending on the system and how much of the heating changes. The survey lets us set a firm programme, and you can give us a ring on 07833 053749 to book it.

Do you look at the job first?

Yes, every time. Diagnosis comes before treatment: the survey shows what’s needed, where things go and what access we need, and the quote is based on that.

Will my radiators work with a heat pump?

It varies from room to room. The survey compares each radiator with the room’s needs, so the quote covers any changes.

What happens on the day

The visit goes in the diary at a time that works for you, and we keep you posted if anything changes. On arrival, the engineer compares the job with the survey, your pictures or the details you gave us. Anything unexpected is raised with you before we go further. From there, the work takes a few days on site, depending on the cylinder, the radiators and the pipework involved. Photos of the existing unit and its label help with repairs and servicing near Send.

  1. We talk through your home, your current heating and what you want from a heat pump.
  2. A heat loss survey works out how much heat each room needs, and we look at the radiators, the cylinder space and where the outdoor unit could go.
  3. You get a fixed-price quote, with any grant you’re eligible for and the VAT explained.
  4. The outdoor unit, the indoor equipment and the controls are installed and connected.
  5. Once it’s running correctly, the MCS certificate is issued and we show you the settings.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Make sure someone can let us in at the agreed time
  • Move furniture away from the wall where we will be working
  • Mention any parking restrictions near the property

How to get a quote

Photos are the fastest route to a quote: the inside and outside of the property where the work is, plus the rating plate of any unit already there. Add the address and what you’d like done, and simple jobs can often be priced without a visit.

Outdoor unit position and planning

Where the outdoor unit goes depends on airflow, access and the route into the house. We also consider neighbours and noise, as MCS 020(a) includes a noise check.

Owner checks or an engineer?

On air conditioning, the filters in the indoor unit are usually the one part owners can clean, if the manual says so. They come out, get a gentle clean and go back only when they’re dry. For a heat pump, the main owner jobs are a clear outdoor unit and sensible control settings.

Owner care supports servicing; it doesn’t replace it. Simple care keeps the air moving through the system, but the refrigerant circuit, the electrics and the parts you can’t see still need an engineer at the interval the manufacturer recommends.

Air source heat pumps around Send

3 conservation areas lie within a mile of central Send. So the heat pump survey asks two extra questions here: is the home listed, and is it inside a conservation area? Census 2021 figures found about 82% of households in detached or semi-detached houses. Finding room for the outdoor unit and a cylinder is seldom a problem in homes like these.

Clandon Park lies about 2.9 miles south. Owners of listed homes need consent before a heat pump is fitted, so it’s one of our first questions. Period properties close to St William of York can suit a heat pump, though insulation and any heritage protection are checked first.
