Our air conditioning service in SE2

Not sure what you need, or where it would go? Just give us a ring on 07833 053749 or fill in the contact form with photos of the rooms and the outside of the property, and you will hear back from us the same working day about a survey or a fixed-price quote. We’re often asked to deal with rooms that get too hot to sleep or work in and rooms heated by plug-in heaters, across ceiling cassettes, ducted systems and air-to-air heat pumps.

The visit has three parts, a bit like a doctor’s appointment: look, put right and sign off. First we check the system or the space against the plan, then the work itself, and finally everything is tested, recorded and explained. The middle part takes longest, which takes anything from a day for one room to several days for a multi-room or ducted system.

  1. We survey the property, or work from your photos for a simple job.
  2. Output, positions and price are settled before anything is booked.
  3. On the day, dust sheets go down and the indoor and outdoor units are fitted.
  4. We run and connect the pipes, cable and drain, then pressure test and evacuate the circuit.
  5. We commission, show you the controls and leave the F-Gas and warranty paperwork.

Pricing in SE2

What you pay depends on the system and the number of rooms or units, how easy the units are to reach and the parts and time the job needs. You get a fixed price before work begins, so there are no surprises.

Air conditioning across SE2: local notes

Our air conditioning work across SE2 takes in places such as Thamesmead, East Wickham and Abbey Wood and the smaller places around them. Every place on our SE2 list (5 in all) is covered.

Enquiries from SE2 get a reply on the working day they arrive. Breakdowns can go to the 24/7 line instead.

Abbey Wood: If your home is in one of the older streets near Saint Michael and All Angels, it’s worth checking whether it’s listed or in a conservation area before an install. Plenty of people near Abbey Wood station split the week between the train and a spare room, and that spare room is often the first to get a unit.

What owners can safely do

Refrigerant is off limits for anyone without the right qualifications. The law requires anyone working on equipment containing F gas to hold the right qualifications, and the company to be certified, and escaping refrigerant can cause cold burns. A suspected leak is our job, not yours.

Do not move, re-route or disconnect units or pipework yourself. Moving a unit involves the refrigerant circuit, so it needs an F-Gas qualified engineer, and the electrics need care too. Ask us to quote for a move instead.

What happens if it’s left?

Size matters more than brand. An undersized unit runs hard and still can’t keep the room cool; an oversized one cycles on and off and wastes energy. Sizing each room properly on the survey avoids both.

Questions to ask before you book

  • Whether the price is fixed or an estimate
  • The make and model of any parts or equipment being quoted
  • Whether they looked at the job before pricing it
  • Whether the company is F-Gas certified, and whether you can check it

What affects the cost of air conditioning

Some jobs are bigger than they look, and some smaller. What affects the quote:

  • Whether the existing supply is suitable
  • How far the pipework has to run, and where
  • One-off work versus a regular service cycle
  • Access, including height, roofs and ladders

What you pay reflects the actual work. That is why every job is looked at first, and the price is agreed before any work starts.

Helping us quote

Photos and a few facts are often enough to price a simple job. Send what you can of the following:

  • A photo of the consumer unit with the cover closed
  • The outdoor side of the property, including any roof or flat area
  • Photos showing the indoor unit and the space around it
  • The rating plate or label on any existing unit

Need a price for air conditioning? Please call 07833 053749 or send an email and tell us about the job. We’ll explain what we’d recommend and why, then send a fixed-price quote before anything is booked.

What the work involves, system by system

Outdoor unit positions

The outdoor unit can go on a wall bracket, on the ground or on a flat roof, whatever suits the building and the route. It needs space around it to breathe and for an engineer to work on it.

Multi-split systems

Two rooms on a multi-split are typically £2,800–£4,500 + VAT, and three to five rooms £4,500–£8,500 + VAT. The pipe routes to each room make the biggest difference to the price.

SE2: your questions answered

How do I know what size unit to get?

We size each room on the survey, from its size, glazing, orientation and use. An undersized unit never catches up, and an oversized one cycles and wastes energy and we explain the output we recommend.

How soon will you get back to me?

On the same working day you contact us. Then we agree a date that works for you, with a fixed price before work starts.

Can you look at a system you didn’t fit?

Yes. Systems fitted by other companies are fine, on all the main brands. Send us the make and model, and any records you have.

Can landlords and managing agents book you?

Yes. Homeowners, landlords, agents and businesses all book us across London and the South East. Tell us who should receive the paperwork.

Whose job is it to check the system for leaks?

Responsibility is shared between the operator, normally whoever owns or controls the equipment, and the service technicians. The interval depends on the refrigerant charge, measured in tonnes of CO2 equivalent: at least yearly for 5 to under 50 tCO2e, and every 6 months for 50 to under 500 tCO2e.

What accreditations do you have?

AirCon Doctor is an F-Gas certified company, with NICEIC approval for electrical work and MCS certification for heat pumps. We are also Checkatrade members.

Where does the outdoor unit go?

It can go on a wall bracket, at ground level or on a flat roof, wherever the pipe route, airflow and servicing access work best. We also think about noise near bedrooms and neighbours, and the position can affect planning.
