Air conditioning in RG40: how it works
Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi are among the brands we fit. We recommend a model on the survey and explain why it suits the room, and the manufacturer’s warranty terms are set out on your quote. We are often asked to deal with rooms that get too hot to sleep or work in and fans and portables that don’t keep up, across ceiling cassettes, wall-mounted split systems and VRF systems.
Our engineers bring the tools, gauges and access equipment the job needs. All we ask is clear access to the units, or to where they’ll go, and to the consumer unit. On site, the work takes anything from a day for one room to several days for a multi-room or ducted system.
- Diagnosis comes first, with a survey of the rooms, outside space and fuse board.
- Next, a recommendation for each room and a fixed price.
- Then the work: units up, pipes and drain run, and a new circuit where necessary.
- Before it runs, the pipework is proved tight and put under vacuum.
- The sign-off: commissioning, a walk through the controls, and the F-Gas records and warranty details.
What you’ll pay
One room or a whole building, the quote is built the same way: what needs doing, how we get to it and what it needs. The price is fixed before any work starts, and the quote sets out the VAT.
What you get with us
- NICEIC approved for electrical work
- An F-Gas certified company, as the law requires
- Listed on Checkatrade
- MCS certification for heat pump work

Around Wokingham
Locally, jobs take us to houses, flats and workplaces close to Church of St Paul, Walter Infant School and The Holt School and the streets around them. Nearby too are St Crispin's School (1.2 miles east) and The Station Tap (under half a mile east). Wokingham has its own railway station: Wokingham station. Other landmarks nearby include Berkshire Library & Museum of Freemasonry (1.9 miles north-west) and Wokingham Hospital (within half a mile east). For a walk, there’s Heath Lake and Sonning Hill.
Air conditioning across RG40: local notes
In RG40, we install in places such as Crowthorne, Arborfield Garrison and Emmbrook and well beyond. Every place on our RG40 list (16 in all) is covered.
Our area stretches from Greater London through Surrey, Kent and Sussex to Hampshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Hertfordshire and Essex, and RG40 sits within it. You reach the same people wherever you are in it.
Wokingham: Homes near Church of St Paul are a good example of where we look up the heritage status of the building before fixing anything to it. If you commute from Wokingham station and work from home on other days, one wall-mounted unit in the home office is often all that is needed.
Why deal with it now?
A system that’s the wrong size never works well. An undersized unit runs hard and still can’t keep the room cool; too big, and it switches on and off and wastes energy. Getting the sizing right at the survey stage avoids both problems.
Comparing quotes
- Whether a new circuit is included and who certifies it
- Whether they hold F-Gas company certification, not just individual qualifications
- Whether testing, commissioning and paperwork are included
- Whether extra work needs your approval first
Landlords, agents and facilities managers
Records are where property maintenance often slips. Every visit is written up, plus the F-Gas records where refrigerant is involved, ready for a tenant, a buyer or an inspection.
Under the GB F-gas rules, responsibility for leak checks is shared between whoever operates the equipment and the engineers who work on it. In a let or managed building, it’s worth agreeing who that operator is, and we can work for either side.
Signs you need air conditioning
Portable units are often where people start, and why they call us. Portables push their warm air out through a hose in the window, so the window can’t close properly and the noisy part of the unit is in the room. A fixed split system puts the compressor outside.
Any of these is worth a proper look:
- Working from home in a room that gets too warm
- Too many options and no clear advice
- An old system that needs replacing
- Old electric heaters you’d like to replace with something more efficient
Fixed-price quotes for air conditioning in RG40
We quote each job individually. These are the things that affect it:
- The type of system, from a single split to a larger system
- Whether the existing supply is suitable
- How many units are involved
- How easy the units are to reach
Putting several jobs into one visit often makes better use of the time. Tell us about everything you’d like looked at, and you will get one fixed price.
Asking for a quote
When you call or email, it’s useful to have:
- A close-up of the unit’s label showing the model number
- Wide photos of the room or the existing unit
- The fuse board and where it is in the property
- A short video of any fault, such as a noise or a flashing light
Photos are the fastest route to a quote: the room or the existing unit, the outside wall or roof where the outdoor unit sits or would go, and the label on any existing unit. Add the address and what you’d like done, and simple jobs can often be priced without a visit.
RG40 questions
Who is responsible for leak checks?
Whoever operates the equipment, together with the technicians who service it. Larger systems need regular checks: at least every 12 months from 5 tCO2e and every 6 months from 50 tCO2e. We can tell you which band your system falls into.
Which brands do you work with?
We work with the leading brands, from Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin and Fujitsu to Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi. Tell us the make and model and we’ll take it from there.
Can the outdoor unit go on a roof or at ground level?
Wall brackets, ground level and flat roofs are all options, chosen for the pipe route, airflow and access. We also think about noise near bedrooms and neighbours and position can affect planning.
Which accreditations do you hold?
F-Gas company certification, NICEIC approval for electrical work and MCS certification for heat pumps, plus Checkatrade membership. Engineers who handle refrigerant hold their own F-gas qualifications as well.
Can you look at a system you didn’t fit?
Yes. We look at it first and tell you what we find, including any issues with how it was fitted. Any work is priced before it goes ahead.
Do you cover RG40?
Yes. Our area takes in London and the counties of the South East, RG40 included.
Can landlords and managing agents book you?
Yes. From one rented home to commercial buildings, we work the same way: a look first, a fixed-price quote and written records.
