About air conditioning in GU46

The best installations are planned before a single hole is drilled. We look at each room’s size, glazing, orientation and use, and we agree the unit positions and the route for the pipes, cable and drain, all before the price is fixed. We are often asked to deal with rooms heated by plug-in heaters and bedrooms and offices that overheat in summer, across VRF systems, air-to-air heat pumps and ducted systems.

Everything the job needs comes with us, from tools and test equipment to ladders and dust sheets. All we ask is clear access to the units, or to where they’ll go, and to the consumer unit. On site, the work takes about a day for a single-room system, longer for multi-room and ducted systems.

  1. First the diagnosis: a survey of the rooms, the walls, the outside and the electrics.
  2. Next, a recommendation for each room and a fixed price.
  3. The treatment: units fitted, pipework and drain routed, and the electrics installed.
  4. Checks: a pressure test for leaks, then a vacuum to clear moisture.
  5. Finally, the clean bill of health: commissioning, the controls explained and your paperwork handed over.

How we quote

The pipe route, the height of the units and how we reach them can all change the price. Each of those is built into the quote and give you a fixed price before we start.

Some jobs can be priced from pictures, while others need a survey. Bigger systems, commercial sites and awkward pipe routes are normally surveyed on site. Either way, the quote is fixed before anything goes ahead.

Around Yateley

Locally, jobs take us to houses, flats and workplaces close to Yateley School, Cranford Park Primary and Church of St Peter, among other places. Also close by are Ambarrow Court (1.4 miles north-east) and Dog & Partridge pub (under half a mile north-east). The nearest railway station is Sandhurst station, roughly 1.3 miles north-east. Well-known places in the area include Staff College Museum (3.6 miles east) and Pinewood Hospital (3.6 miles north-east). Open spaces near Yateley include Horseshoe Lake and Hitches Hill.

Air conditioning around GU46

In GU46, we install in places such as Yateley, Frogmore and Darby Green and well beyond. Every place on our GU46 list (3 in all) is covered.

GU46 is part of a working area that runs from Greater London to the Sussex coast and out to Oxfordshire and Essex. You reach the same people wherever you are in it.

Yateley: Homes near Church of St Peter are a good example of where we look up the heritage status of the building before fixing anything to it. Most people start with the room that gets hottest, then add more rooms on a multi-split if needed.

What the work involves, system by system

Electrical supply

We check the consumer unit on the survey, so any extra electrical work is on the quote rather than a surprise on the day. An older board may need extra work and we will tell you if yours does.

Wall-mounted split systems

Single-room split systems are typically £1,200–£2,200 + VAT, including supply, installation, commissioning and F-Gas documentation. Where you sit in that range depends on the pipe run, access and electrics.

Looking after your system

Here’s the after-treatment advice, in brief:

  • Leave space around the outdoor unit
  • Choose a comfortable set temperature rather than the lowest
  • Clean the filters every few weeks when the system is in heavy use
  • Keep to the service interval the manufacturer recommends

If anything is not right after we have gone, call us on the same number. Tell us what the system is doing, and any code on the display, and we’ll talk it through with you.

Regular filter cleaning is the simplest thing you can do. Blocked filters cut airflow and make the system work harder, which costs you more to run.

Rented and managed buildings

Larger air conditioning systems in buildings need more than servicing: a TM44 inspection by an accredited energy assessor is required at least every 5 years for systems over 12 kW. We can arrange it, prepare the system for it and fix what it finds.

We regularly work with managing agents. Tell us the property, the work and the access arrangements and we’ll come back with a fixed-price quote.

Safe owner checks

Before you call us about a fault, a few checks can save a visit: check the mode, the set temperature, the remote’s batteries and the breaker. If the breaker trips a second time, leave it off and give us a ring on 07833 053749 or drop us a line.

Don’t move, re-route or disconnect units or pipework yourself. Moving a unit involves the refrigerant circuit, so it needs an F-Gas qualified engineer, and the electrics need care too. Ask us to quote for a move instead.

Questions from GU46

Do I need a new electrical circuit?

Most of the time. The fuse board is checked on the survey, and any electrical work goes on the quote, and our NICEIC approval covers the installation and certificate.

Is there a survey before the work?

Yes. For simple jobs, pictures and a few details can be enough, while bigger systems and repairs that need testing get a visit.

Can I use air conditioning to heat a room?

Yes, most modern split systems run as heat pumps, so they heat as well as cool. The Energy Saving Trust notes that air-to-air heat pumps are sometimes referred to as air conditioning. Some cooling-only models exist, so we confirm it for the model on your quote.

Can I do any of the installation myself?

The refrigerant side has to be done by a qualified engineer working for an F-Gas certified company. That’s the law, not just our preference, and manufacturers expect it for their warranty too. We can quote for the whole job, from supply to commissioning.

Do I need to service the system to keep the warranty?

For some brands, yes. Read the manufacturer’s terms, or send us the make and model and we’ll explain them and stick to the interval they set.

How long does air conditioning installation take?

Most single-room systems take a day. Multi-split, ducted and cassette systems take longer and the quote says how long to expect.

Do I need planning permission?

Not always. On a house, air-to-water heat pumps and, since 2025, air-to-air systems that heat as well as cool can be permitted development if they meet the conditions. Cooling-only units, listed buildings, flats and road-facing spots in conservation areas are where it normally comes up and the survey picks it up. This is general information, not legal advice.
