About air conditioning in RG45

Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi are among the brands we fit. The survey ends with a recommendation and the reasons for it, and the manufacturer’s warranty terms are set out on your quote. We are often asked to deal with rooms heated by plug-in heaters and rooms under the roof that stay hot into the night, on air-to-air heat pumps, multi-split systems and wall-mounted split systems.

Wherever the system can be run before we leave, we run it and check it in operation. Then we show you what we have done and answer any questions, and anything that needs attention later is pointed out. All told, the work takes about a day for a single-room system, longer for multi-room and ducted systems.

  1. We survey the rooms and the outside of the property, or work from pictures and details for simple jobs.
  2. Each room is sized and you get a fixed-price quote setting out the equipment and the unit positions.
  3. Brackets go on, the units are hung and the refrigerant lines, cable and drain are routed between them.
  4. Power is wired in, the joints are proved leak-tight under pressure and a vacuum pump draws out air and moisture.
  5. Finally, it’s commissioned, tested in each mode and handed over with the F-Gas records.

How we quote

The price reflects the work, not guesswork. That’s why we look at the job first, from photos or on a survey, and why the quote is fixed before we start.

Air conditioning across RG45: local notes

In RG45, as across England, the same permitted development rules apply: an air-to-air system that heats as well as cools can be permitted development on a house, but cooling-only units, listed buildings and outdoor units facing a road in conservation areas need more care.

Across London and the South East, we reply to enquiries the same working day, with a 24/7 emergency line for breakdowns.

Crowthorne: If your home is in one of the older streets near Crowthorne Methodist Church, it’s worth checking whether it’s listed or in a conservation area before an install. A loft bedroom or a glazed extension is often the room that prompts the first call.

Keeping the system healthy

How well a system lasts depends on use and care. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Keep the handover documents somewhere safe
  • Use moderate settings for comfort and economy
  • Close windows and doors while the system is cooling
  • Let filters dry fully before you put them back

We recommend an annual service, and some manufacturers make servicing a warranty condition. We can remind you when it’s due if you’d like.

Book an annual service. A service cleans what you can’t reach and picks up faults before they stop the system, and it keeps any warranty servicing conditions in order.

Fixed-price quotes for air conditioning in RG45

Your quote is based on your property. We take into account:

  • The equipment or parts the job needs
  • Access, including height, roofs and ladders
  • The number of rooms, units or zones
  • What kind of system it is

What you pay depends on the type of system and how many units are involved, the access and the parts and time the job needs. You get a fixed price before any work starts, so there are no surprises.

Asking for a quote

There’s no need for technical detail. Just send:

  • Photos showing the indoor unit and the space around it
  • The address and the type of property
  • Your installation or service records
  • Any error code or flashing light on the display

Need a price for air conditioning? Please phone us on 07833 053749 or write to us at info@aircondoctor.co.uk with a few details about the property. We’ll explain what we’d recommend and why, then send a fixed-price quote before you commit to anything.

System by system

Multi-split systems

A two-room multi-split is typically £2,800–£4,500 + VAT, and three to five rooms £4,500–£8,500 + VAT. The route from the outdoor unit to each room is the main variable.

Outdoor unit positions

On flats and terraced houses, space outside is often the deciding factor. Every option is checked on the survey, and tell you about any permissions you may need.

Honest limits

In fairness, there are a few things this work won’t fix:

  • Stuffy rooms that need fresh air rather than cooling
  • Problems with a gas boiler or the radiators
  • A room that can’t take an outdoor unit or pipe route without the landlord’s, management company’s or council’s consent (that consent comes first)

Your questions about air conditioning in RG45

How does the warranty work?

Warranty is the manufacturer’s own, on its terms. Terms differ by brand, and we set them out on your quote.

Why does F-Gas certification matter?

Certification shows a business is approved to work on systems that hold F gas refrigerant. That is not optional: it’s required by law, and we hold it.

How long will the installation take?

It takes a day for most single-room installations, with multi-split, ducted and cassette systems taking longer. The survey tells us how long your installation will need, so you can plan around it.

Can I have air conditioning in a flat?

In many cases, but permissions come first. You will usually need the landlord’s or management company’s consent for the outdoor unit and the pipe route, so check the lease. Planning rules for flats are tighter too, and we flag anything that may need permission. This is general information, not legal advice.

Can I use air conditioning to heat a room?

Normally, yes. Running as a heat pump, it moves heat in from outside rather than making it from electricity alone. To replace your main heating, there are extra conditions, including for the £2,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant for air-to-air heat pumps.

Can I do any of the installation myself?

Anything that involves the refrigerant needs an F-Gas qualified engineer from a certified company. That is a legal requirement, and manufacturers expect it for their warranty too. We can quote for the whole job, from supply to commissioning.

Will skipping a service affect the warranty?

Each manufacturer decides. Where servicing is a condition, a missed service could give the manufacturer grounds to refuse a claim and we’ll tell you what your brand asks for.
