Air conditioning in ME7: how it works
Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi are among the brands we fit. We recommend a model on the survey and explain why it suits the room, and the manufacturer’s warranty terms are set out on your quote. The work covers ceiling cassettes, multi-split systems and wall-mounted split systems, and the jobs we see most are rooms heated by plug-in heaters and bedrooms and offices that overheat in summer.
Wherever the system can be run before we leave, we run it and check it in operation. Then we explain what was done and answer your questions, and anything that needs a follow-up is pointed out there and then. The visit takes about a day for a single-room system, longer for multi-room and ducted systems.
- Diagnosis comes first, with a survey of the rooms, outside space and fuse board.
- Then the prescription: the right system and size for each room, on a fixed-price quote.
- Then the work: units up, pipes and drain run, and a new circuit where needed.
- Before it runs, the pipework is proved tight and put under vacuum.
- Finally, the clean bill of health: commissioning, the controls explained and your paperwork handed over.

What’s near Hempstead
In Hempstead, that means homes and buildings near Hempstead Infant School, South Wood and All Saints Church and the streets around them. Also close by are Howard School (1.3 miles north-east) and Rainham School for Girls (1.3 miles north-east). Hempstead’s nearest station is Rainham (Kent) station, about 2.1 miles north-east of the centre. Nearby you will also find Pentagon Shopping Centre (3 miles north-west) and Medway megaliths (3.8 miles south-west). Green spaces nearby include Burham Down and Boxley Hills.
Air conditioning around ME7
From Gillingham, Chatham and Luton outwards, ME7 has every kind of home. Each install starts with a survey of the rooms, the walls and where the outdoor unit can go, then a fixed-price quote.
We are based in East Grinstead and work across London and the South East, ME7 included. Each job starts with a survey and a fixed-price quote. Near the coast in ME7, outdoor units last longer with shelter from sea wind and a yearly service, and some manufacturers offer corrosion-protected coils.
Hempstead: Living close to All Saints Church? Some older properties in parts like that are protected, and the survey finds out whether yours is. Restoration House (roughly 3.8 miles north-west) shows the area has its share of heritage. A listed home needs consent before an outdoor unit or pipework goes on.
Rented and managed buildings
Larger air conditioning systems in buildings need more than servicing: systems with an effective rated output over 12 kW need a TM44 inspection by an accredited energy assessor at least every 5 years. We arrange the inspection, get the system ready and put right anything it picks up.
Under the GB F-gas rules, responsibility for leak checks is shared between whoever operates the equipment and the engineers who work on it. Where a building is let or managed, the lease or contract should make clear who looks after the system, and we can work for either side.
When it’s something else
Before you book, it helps to know what’s not included:
- Work that needs permission from a landlord or the council
- Damp or condensation caused by leaks or poor ventilation in the building (that needs the cause fixing)
- A ventilation problem rather than a temperature problem
What we are called out for in ME7
In shops, offices and restaurants, the heat comes from customers, staff, equipment and lighting as well as the sun. Comfortable staff and customers are the usual reason businesses get in touch, and some rooms need cooling for the equipment as much as the people.
Reasons to give us a call include:
- An office, shop or restaurant that is uncomfortable for staff and customers
- Old electric heaters you’d like to replace with something more efficient
- Portable units that are noisy and barely cope
- A room that is unbearable on warm days
Why act early?
Size matters more than brand. Too small, and it runs flat out without catching up; an oversized one cycles on and off and wastes energy. Sizing each room properly on the survey avoids both.
What your quote should include
- Whether they hold F-Gas company certification, not just individual qualifications
- Why the equipment they’re quoting suits the job
- Whether testing, commissioning and paperwork are included
- What the manufacturer’s warranty covers and for how long
ME7 questions
Do you offer emergency call-outs?
Yes. If something urgent happens, like water coming from a unit or a critical room overheating, call our 24/7 line and we’ll tell you what to do first.
Which type of air conditioning is best?
There’s no single best type. Wall-mounted splits suit single rooms, multi-splits run several rooms from one outdoor unit, ducted systems hide the unit in the ceiling, and cassettes suit offices and larger rooms. The survey ends with a recommendation and the reasons.
Will skipping a service affect the warranty?
It can, for some brands. Send us the make and model and we will tell you what the manufacturer expects and stick to the interval they set.
Do you offer maintenance contracts?
Yes. We offer maintenance contracts, set at the interval the system and the manufacturer’s terms need. Each visit is recorded and F-Gas records kept where they apply.
What size air conditioning unit do I need?
Floor area is only part of it. Windows, the direction the room faces, the roof above and the people and equipment in it all count and the survey covers each of them.
Will you work on another installer’s system?
Yes. Systems fitted by other companies are fine, on all the main brands. Send us the make and model, and any records you have.
Will you need to do electrical work?
Most of the time, yes: a dedicated circuit is needed. Adding a new circuit is notifiable building work under Part P unless it’s done by a registered competent person, and as NICEIC approved contractors we install and certify it as part of the job.
