Our air conditioning service in ME4
Thinking about air conditioning but not sure where to start? Just ring 07833 053749 or write to us at info@aircondoctor.co.uk with photos of the rooms and the outside of the property, and you will hear back from us the same working day to arrange a survey or a quote. The work covers ceiling cassettes, VRF systems and multi-split systems, and common reasons people get in touch are a loft room or top floor that bakes in summer and rooms heated by plug-in heaters.
Anything involving refrigerant is handled by F-Gas qualified engineers, as the law requires, and electrical work is done by us as NICEIC approved contractors. On the day, both are in the same hands. On site, it takes a day or more, depending on the number of rooms, the pipe routes and the access.
- We start by looking at the rooms, the walls and where the outdoor unit can go.
- Each room is sized and you get a fixed-price quote setting out the equipment and the unit positions.
- On the day, we fit the indoor and outdoor units and run the pipework, cable and condensate drain.
- Power is wired in, the joints are proved leak-tight under pressure and a vacuum pump draws out air and moisture.
- The system is commissioned and checked in every mode, and we hand over the controls, F-Gas records and warranty information.
How we quote
Homes, offices, shops and public buildings are all priced the same way: the equipment, the access, the work involved and the time it takes. Ask for a fixed-price quote and we’ll explain each part.

Getting a price

Also close by are The Magpie Tavern (within half a mile north), St Michael the Archangel Church (1 mile north-west), Hospital and Medical Tuition Service (0.7 miles north-east) and The Victory Academy (under half a mile south-west). The closest station to Luton is Chatham station, about 1 mile north-west of the centre. Air conditioning around ME4
Our air conditioning work across ME4 takes in places such as Gillingham, Chatham and Rochester and the smaller places around them. We cover every place we list for ME4, 6 in all.
London and the South East cover everything from city flats to rural cottages. We’re F-Gas certified, NICEIC approved and MCS certified for heat pumps. Near the coast in ME4, outdoor units last longer with shelter from sea wind and a yearly service.
Luton: About 1.8 miles north-west stands Restoration House. Listed homes in any area need consent first, so tell us if yours is one. Older streets near Saint Paul with All Saints may fall within a conservation area, so we check the planning position before choosing where the outdoor unit goes.
What we are called out for in ME4
Many people try a portable unit first. Portables push their warm air out through a hose in the window, so the window cannot close properly and the noisy part of the unit is in the room. A fixed split system puts the compressor outside.
Look out for any of the following:
- Portable units that are noisy and barely cope
- A loft conversion that is too warm to use
- Rooms that get too hot to sleep or work in
- A study or office that overheats during the day
What affects the quote in ME4
Every job gets its own quote. These are the things that affect it:
- Whether we need access equipment for high-level work
- Whether the existing supply is suitable
- The number of rooms, units or zones
- What state the existing equipment is in
Height, access and the distance between the indoor and outdoor units all affect the cost. Each of those is built into the quote and give you a fixed price before work begins.
What to send for a quote
You do not need the technical terms. Just send:
- Wide pictures of the room or the existing unit
- The postcode and whether it’s a home, flat or business
- Your installation or service records
- The outside wall, roof or yard where the outdoor unit sits or would go
Every quote starts with a look at the job, either on a site survey or, for simple jobs, from your pictures and details. After that, we send a fixed price before any work starts.
When something else is needed
Air conditioning can’t fix everything, and we’d rather say so up front. It will not put right:
- Building damp that has a structural cause
- Stuffy rooms that need fresh air rather than cooling
- Gas boiler or central heating faults (we don’t work on gas boilers)
System by system
Ducted systems
One ducted unit can serve more than one room through separate ducts and grilles, and they’re easiest to fit while ceilings are open, such as during a refurbishment.
Electrical supply
A dedicated circuit is normally needed. We are NICEIC approved, so we fit and certify the circuit ourselves and that covers the Part P side.
Questions from ME4
What does it cost to install air conditioning?
For one room, a split system is typically £1,200–£2,200 + VAT. A two-room multi-split is typically £2,800–£4,500 + VAT, and three to five rooms £4,500–£8,500 + VAT, including supply, installation, commissioning and F-Gas documentation. The price is fixed before we start.
What accreditations do you have?
AirCon Doctor is an F-Gas certified company, with NICEIC approval for electrical work and MCS certification for heat pumps. We’re members of Checkatrade too.
Do you offer emergency call-outs?
Yes, any time. If something urgent happens, like water coming from a unit or a critical room overheating, call our 24/7 line and we’ll agree what happens next.
Do you work in ME4?
Yes. Our area takes in London and the counties of the South East, and that includes ME4.
Do you work on commercial properties?
Yes. From a single let flat to offices, shops and public buildings, we work the same way: a look first, a fixed-price quote and written records.
Why use an F-Gas certified company?
Certification shows a business is approved to work on systems that hold F gas refrigerant. In Great Britain, that certification is a legal requirement, not an optional extra, and AirCon Doctor is certified.
Which type of system should I choose?
It depends on the rooms and the building. Wall-mounted splits suit single rooms, multi-splits run several rooms from one outdoor unit, ducted systems hide the unit in the ceiling, and cassettes suit offices and larger rooms. We recommend one on the survey and explain why.
