Landlords, agents and facilities managers
Keeping records across a portfolio is half the battle. Every visit is written up, with F-Gas records wherever refrigerant work is involved, so you can show what was done and when.
Facilities teams in offices, schools and public buildings book us too across Kent. Larger buildings can be done in stages around the people who use them.
How we handle air source heat pumps in Sarre
We install air source heat pumps in Sarre and across Kent, and we’re MCS certified. Air-to-water systems feed your radiators or underfloor heating and hot water cylinder, while air-to-air systems heat rooms directly through indoor units and can cool them too. We help you work out which suits your home. The work covers hot water cylinders, underfloor heating and radiator systems, and people most often call us about working out where a cylinder could go and wanting to stop using oil, LPG or gas for heating.
Homes around Sarre normally have room outside for a heat pump, so the design comes down to heat loss, radiators and hot water.
Some warranty terms depend on the system being serviced regularly by a qualified engineer. If that applies to your system, booking the service on time keeps the record straight, and every service is written up.

What air source heat pumps can’t fix
We’ll always give you a straight diagnosis, so here’s what this work can’t put right:
- Any gas work on the existing boiler
- Draught-proofing and insulation upgrades
- Tax rulings, which only HMRC can give
Not sure which it is? You can ring us on 07833 053749 or write to us at info@aircondoctor.co.uk and we’ll tell you honestly.

What you can do yourself, and what needs us
Don’t move, re-route or disconnect units or pipework yourself. Moving a unit involves the refrigerant circuit, so it needs an F-Gas qualified engineer, and the electrical side needs a competent person. Ask us to quote for a move instead.
Before you call us about a fault, a few checks can save a visit: check the mode, the set temperature, the remote’s batteries and the breaker. If a breaker trips again after you reset it, leave it off and phone us on 07833 053749, or email if that’s easier.
Sarre: your questions answered
Will a heat pump in Sarre need planning permission?
The answer turns on the property and where the outdoor unit would sit. The Sarre Conservation Area takes in the middle of Sarre. The permitted development rules for heat pumps leave out listed buildings and stop outdoor units going on road-facing walls or roofs in conservation areas. Anything outside the rules needs an application, and we raise it with Thanet council, which is normally the planning authority for Sarre first.
Do you cover smaller places like Sarre?
Yes. Sarre is within the area we cover across London and the South East. A few photos and the postcode are enough to get things started.
Do you work on commercial properties?
Yes. We work for homeowners, landlords, letting and managing agents, and businesses of every size in Sarre and across Kent. Let us know who the records should go to.
Can I get a grant for an air-to-air heat pump?
A £2,500 grant is available in some cases. Adding air-to-air alongside a boiler does not qualify as it has to meet the full heating demand.
Will skipping a service affect the warranty?
Each manufacturer decides. Where servicing is a condition, a missed service could give the manufacturer grounds to refuse a claim, so we explain the terms on your quote.
Can I do any of the installation myself?
Not the refrigerant work. Under the F-gas rules, it must be done by qualified engineers from a certified company, and a new circuit is notifiable under Part P unless a registered electrician, such as a NICEIC approved contractor, does it.
What does an air-to-water heat pump cost?
Air-to-water work is in the £8,000–£16,000 range (0% VAT on homes), with any grant still to come off. Where you land depends on the size of heat pump, any radiators that need changing and the hot water cylinder, and air-to-air systems are priced after a survey.
The process
Each visit runs to the same pattern: agree the plan on site, put the dust sheets down, carry out the job, test what we’ve done and talk you through it. On site, the work takes a few days for most air-to-water installations, with air-to-air systems often quicker. We agree a date with you and plan the visit to Sarre so we arrive with what’s needed.
- It begins with your house and the heating it relies on now.
- We measure heat loss for every room.
- We design the system, check the radiators and cylinder and look at the outdoor unit position.
- A fixed-price quote explains the cost, the grant position and the VAT.
- We install, commission and register the system under MCS.
How to prepare
- Dig out any previous service or F-Gas records
- Let us know if the units are on a roof, a high wall or in a locked area
- Let us know where the consumer unit is
Get a fixed-price quote
Photos are enough for some jobs; others need a visit first. Bigger systems, commercial sites and awkward pipe routes are normally surveyed on site. Either way, you get a fixed price before any work is booked.

Homes in Sarre and heat pumps
Sarre is within about 3 miles of the coast. For a heat pump near the sea, ask about any coastal protection option the manufacturer offers. Valuation Office Agency council tax records show about 33% of homes in the Sarre area were built in 2000 or later, and about 65% of households live in detached or semi-detached houses, according to Census 2021 figures. Better insulated, newer homes are often a good match for a heat pump. Houses normally have space for an outdoor unit and a hot water cylinder.
Quex Park, roughly 4.1 miles north-east, is a reminder to check your home’s listing status: permitted development doesn’t cover listed buildings. Period properties close to Church of Saint Nicholas can suit a heat pump, though insulation and any heritage protection are checked first.
Sarre is about 5 miles south-east of Herne Bay, in Kent. Properties in Sarre get the same service as everywhere we cover: a look at the job first, a fixed-price quote and written records at the end.
