About our air source heat pumps in Kempe's Corner

Until 31 March 2027, a heat pump installed in residential accommodation carries 0% VAT, with 5% from 1 April 2027. This is HMRC’s energy-saving materials relief, which applies to homes rather than businesses. For air-to-air systems, we confirm the VAT on your quote. This is general information, not tax advice. The work covers hot water cylinders, air-to-water heat pumps and air-to-air heat pumps, and the jobs we see most are an oil, LPG or gas boiler near the end of its life and deciding which kind of heat pump suits the home.

If your home in or near Kempe's Corner is heated by oil, LPG or electric heaters with no mains gas, the Boiler Upgrade Scheme adds an extra £1,500 until March 2027 for an air source or ground source heat pump, on top of the £7,500.

Some warranty terms depend on the system being serviced regularly by a qualified engineer. If that applies to your system, booking the service on time keeps the record straight and each visit is recorded.

How the visit works

We book the visit for a day and time that suit you, and we keep you posted if anything changes. When we arrive, we check the job against the survey or the pictures you sent. Anything unexpected is raised with you before we go further. From there, the work takes anything from a couple of days for air-to-air to the best part of a week for air-to-water with radiator changes. A note on how to find the property and where to park makes a visit to Kempe's Corner easier.

  1. We find out about your home and the heating you have now.
  2. A heat loss survey is carried out, room by room.
  3. We design the system, check the radiators and cylinder and look at the outdoor unit position.
  4. You get a fixed price, with any grant and the VAT set out.
  5. Installation, commissioning and MCS registration complete the job.

Your questions about air source heat pumps in Kempe's Corner

Will you come out to Kempe's Corner?

Yes, and the size of the place makes no difference to how we work. Send a few details and photos, and we reply the same working day.

Is the heat pump grant available in Kempe's Corner?

Kempe's Corner is in England, where the Boiler Upgrade Scheme runs. Air-to-water and ground source systems attract £7,500. Air-to-air gets £2,500, but only where it takes over from fossil-fuel heating and covers the whole home’s heating demand. You do not apply yourself: the MCS certified installer does, which is us.

Do you look at the job first?

Yes. We always look before we price, on a survey, or from your pictures and details where the job is simple. Then you get a fixed-price quote.

Is the equipment covered by a warranty?

It’s the manufacturer’s warranty, which varies by brand. Daikin, for instance, gives a standard 2 years on split air conditioning, and we explain the terms for whichever brand you choose.

Will my radiators work with a heat pump?

Some radiators may be fine as they are, and some may need to be larger. Heat pumps run at lower flow temperatures, so radiators give out less heat, and the survey checks each one.

Can you look at a system you didn’t fit?

Yes. We work on systems fitted by other installers as well as our own, on all the main brands. Tell us the make and model and send any paperwork you have.

Can you come out in an emergency?

Yes. For anything urgent, such as a system failing in a server room or water leaking from a unit, ring our 24/7 line and we’ll tell you what to do first.

Looking after your system

Once we’ve finished, these simple steps help:

  • Know the servicing conditions in your warranty
  • Use the settings explained at handover
  • Diary the next service

Handover includes the controls and how to get the best from a heat pump. Steady running suits a heat pump better than switching on and off so we set the controls up with you.

A well-insulated home helps a heat pump, as lower heat loss means the system has less to do.

Managing agents and facilities teams in Kempe's Corner

Larger air conditioning systems in buildings need more than servicing: systems with an effective rated output over 12 kW need a TM44 inspection by an accredited energy assessor at least every 5 years. We can arrange it, prepare the system for it and fix what it finds.

From a single flat to a whole estate, you get the same standard: diagnosis, a fixed price, access agreed with the people on site and paperwork at the end.

Heat pumps in Kempe's Corner: local notes

Census 2021 figures found about 65% of households in detached or semi-detached houses. Detached and semi-detached houses typically have room for the outdoor unit and a cylinder. The middle of Kempe's Corner is part of a conservation area. About 10 listed entries lie within half a mile of central Kempe's Corner, Kemps Hall (grade II) among them. Where a home is affected, the outdoor unit position is settled with Ashford council, normally the planning authority here before the heat pump design is finished.

If your home is near Wye station and heated by a gas boiler, an air-to-water heat pump can replace it where the survey shows it suits. Godinton House, roughly 3.8 miles south-west, is a reminder to check your home’s listing status: permitted development doesn’t cover listed buildings.

Owner checks or an engineer?

On air conditioning, the filters in the indoor unit are typically the one part owners can clean, if the manual says so. They come out, get a gentle clean and go back only when they’re dry. On a heat pump, the equivalent is keeping the outdoor unit clear and checking the controls.

Before you call us about a fault, a few checks can save a visit: check the mode, the set temperature, the remote’s batteries and the breaker. If a breaker trips again after you reset it, leave it off and ring us on 07833 053749 or write to us at info@aircondoctor.co.uk.
