Air source heat pumps in Dean Court, done properly
Hot water from an air-to-water system is stored in a cylinder. Homes with a combi boiler may not have a cylinder, so finding space for one is part of the survey. Air-to-air systems don’t heat hot water, so you’ll need another way to do that. If you are dealing with wanting to stop using oil, LPG or gas for heating and an oil, LPG or gas boiler near the end of its life, we can sort it out.
Whether a home near Dean Court has mains gas makes a difference to the grant. Homes heated by oil or LPG with no mains gas can get an extra £1,500 on the Boiler Upgrade Scheme until March 2027.
Each manufacturer sets its own warranty period. For instance, Daikin’s standard warranty on split air conditioning is 2 years, and its longer extensions apply to its air-to-water units only. Whatever the brand, the manufacturer’s terms are explained on your quote.

Owner checks or an engineer?
Some faults have simple causes you can check first: is the system in the right mode, is the set temperature sensible, are the remote’s batteries working and has the breaker tripped. If a breaker trips again after you reset it, leave it off and phone 07833 053749 or drop us a line.
There are a few things you can safely do yourself: keep the outdoor unit clear of leaves, plants and clutter, check the settings and the remote, and follow the cleaning the manual describes. Opening up the units, the electrics and the refrigerant circuit are a job for us.
What we’re called out for in Dean Court
Many enquiries start with a question about the Boiler Upgrade Scheme. Eligibility depends on the property, the system and the scheme rules, so we check before you commit.
Any of these is worth a proper look:
- Deciding on the outdoor unit position
- Plans to switch to electric heating with a heat pump
- Working out whether radiators need upsizing
Historic houses such as Holywell Manor, about 2.7 miles east, are a reminder that listed homes need consent before a heat pump goes in.
Questions to ask before booking
- Whether a new circuit is included and who certifies it
- Whose warranty applies, and on what terms
- Proof of F-Gas company certification
Aftercare tips
Looking after the system is mostly common sense. Our tips:
- Avoid switching the heat pump on and off often
- Check eligibility for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme early
- Diary the next service
Handover includes the controls and how to get the best from a heat pump. Heat pumps tend to work best running steadily rather than in short bursts, and we will explain the settings for your home.
Have the system serviced regularly. Check the manufacturer’s terms, as they may include servicing conditions.
How it works
There’s very little for you to do on the day. Someone needs to let us in and show us the units, or where they’re going, and we take it from there. Before we leave, the area is tidied and we explain what we have done. A few photos let us plan a visit to a place like Dean Court.
- We start with your plans and the property.
- We survey for heat loss and look at radiators, cylinder space and outdoor unit options.
- You get our view on the right type for the house, and on whether the Boiler Upgrade Scheme applies.
- Installation follows on the agreed dates.
- We commission it, complete the MCS certificate and show you how to use it.
Preparing for the visit
- Mention any roof access, ladders or high-level work
- Clear a path to the units and the space around them
- Plan for pets to be kept clear during the visit
Getting a quote
Every quote starts with a look at the job, either on a site survey or, for simple jobs, from your photos and details. After that, we send a fixed price so you know the cost before we begin.

Dean Court questions
Do you cover smaller places like Dean Court?
We do. Villages and hamlets get the same service as the bigger towns. Send a few details and photos, and we reply the same working day.
Does the Boiler Upgrade Scheme cover homes in Dean Court?
Dean Court is covered, as the scheme runs across England and Wales. Air-to-water and ground source systems attract £7,500. Air-to-air gets £2,500, but only where it takes over from fossil-fuel heating and covers the whole home’s heating demand. The installer applies, and we are MCS certified.
What’s the difference between air-to-water and air-to-air heat pumps?
It depends on your home, your heating and whether you want cooling. Air-to-water can attract a £7,500 grant where eligible; air-to-air only qualifies for £2,500 under strict conditions, and we set out the options after the survey.
Which brands do you work with?
Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Hitachi and others. For a new system, we suggest the make and model that suit the property and tell you why.
Can we book visits on a schedule?
Yes. We offer maintenance contracts, with visits at the interval your system and the manufacturer need. Each visit is recorded, with F-Gas records where refrigerant work is involved.
Which accreditations do you hold?
F-Gas certified, NICEIC approved and MCS certified for heat pumps, plus Checkatrade membership. Engineers who handle refrigerant hold their own F-gas qualifications as well.
Do you have a 24/7 line?
Yes. If something urgent happens, like water coming from a unit or a critical room overheating, call our 24/7 line and we’ll tell you what to do first.
