What an install looks like in Standford
About 42 miles out from central London, Standford is part of the South East area we work across. The middle of Standford is part of the River Wey Conservation Area. There are 2 conservation areas within a mile of the centre of Standford. Passfield House, listed at grade II*, is one of roughly 13 protected buildings and structures in the half-mile around Standford’s centre. Before any outdoor unit is fixed here, we find out whether the building is protected. Where it is, the local planning authority (typically East Hampshire council) has the final say on what’s allowed.
Older streets near St Mark's Sacred Church may fall within a conservation area, so we check the planning position before choosing where the outdoor unit goes. Most people start with the room that gets hottest, then add more rooms on a multi-split if needed.
Standford is about 7 miles south-east of Alton, in Hampshire. Whether you are in the middle of Standford or further out, we cover air conditioning, from small jobs to large ones. Count every place we list in Hampshire and you reach 683, with Standford on the list. There’s also a page for Guildford, roughly 15 miles from Standford.
The closest recent job we can point to from Standford was on Petworth Road, Haslemere (GU27), about 5 miles east: installing a Mitsubishi Electric multi-split system serving the master bedroom, two further bedrooms and the basement games room. See the job

Air conditioning in Standford
Thinking about air conditioning but not sure where to start? Just give us a ring on 07833 053749, or email if that’s easier with pictures of the rooms and the outside of the property, and we’ll reply the same working day to arrange a survey or a quote. Every installation in Standford begins with a look at the rooms, the walls and where the outdoor unit can go, then a fixed-price quote that names the make and model.
A single room takes a day in most homes, while multi-split systems for several rooms can take longer, and we leave the room clean and the controls explained.
Space outside is rarely the problem in a place like Standford. More often it’s the walls, the electrics and the length of the pipe run that need thinking about.
Looking after a system is mostly common sense: clear space around the outdoor unit, the cleaning the manual describes and a service at the recommended interval. That also helps where the warranty terms ask for regular servicing.

Looking after your system
Systems last better with the right care. We suggest:
- Avoid setting it far colder than you need
- Let filters dry fully before you put them back
- Keep the F-Gas records, commissioning details and warranty information together
Questions after the installation go to the same number. Let us know what’s happening and any error code, and we’ll talk it through with you.
Report drips, noises or error codes early. A drip, a noise or a flashing light is often an early sign of a fault, and early repairs are usually simpler.
What happens on the day
Wherever the system can be run before we leave, we run it and check it in operation. Then we show you what we have done and answer any questions, and anything that needs a follow-up is pointed out there and then. The visit takes a day for most single-room installations, with multi-split, ducted and cassette systems taking longer. Somewhere like Standford, it helps to know about lanes, gates and where to park.
- You send pictures, or we visit and survey the rooms and outside.
- Each room is sized and the unit positions agreed, then you get a fixed-price quote.
- On the day, dust sheets go down and the indoor and outdoor units are fitted.
- Pipework, cable and drain are run, the circuit is connected and the pipework is pressure tested and evacuated.
- The system is commissioned, the controls explained and the F-Gas records handed over.
Preparing for the visit
- Arrange for someone to be there to let us in
- Clear a path to the units and the space around them
- Let us know if the units are on a roof, a high wall or in a locked area

Questions from Standford
Do you cover Standford for air conditioning?
We do: Standford falls inside our working area. Just phone 07833 053749 or send an email with a few details.
Do you cover smaller places like Standford?
We do. Villages and hamlets get the same service as the bigger towns. We’re based in East Grinstead and plan each visit so the job can be finished in one trip where possible.
Where will you put the outdoor unit?
Wall brackets, ground level and flat roofs are all options, wherever the pipe route, airflow and servicing access work best. We also think about noise near bedrooms and neighbours and position can affect planning.
Will I need planning permission?
Not always. Permitted development can cover a heat pump on a house, including an air-to-air system that heats as well as cools since 2025, provided the conditions are met. Permission is more likely to come up for cooling-only units, listed buildings, flats and road-facing positions in conservation areas and the survey picks it up. This is general information, not legal advice.
Who has to arrange F-Gas leak checks?
The F-gas rules share it between the equipment’s operator and the engineers who work on it. The interval depends on the refrigerant charge, measured in tonnes of CO2 equivalent: at least every 12 months from 5 tCO2e, and every 6 months from 50 tCO2e.
What accreditations do you have?
AirCon Doctor is an F-Gas certified company, NICEIC approved for electrical work and MCS certified for heat pumps. We’re members of Checkatrade too.
What size air conditioning unit do I need?
Sizing is done on the survey, room by room. An undersized unit never catches up, and an oversized one cycles and wastes energy and we explain the output we recommend.

A customer’s words
“Excellent service from start to finish. Two wall-mounted units installed in our home. Clean, tidy work: they protected all the floors and left no mess. The systems work brilliantly. Would highly recommend.”
