Air conditioning servicing for homes and businesses in Standford

A service is as much a check-up as a clean. The engineer checks fans, pipe insulation, controls and electrical connections, then explains anything that looks like it could cause a problem later. If the problem is weaker cooling than last year and error codes or flashing lights on the indoor unit, we can sort it out.

Most systems around Standford need servicing once a year, ideally in spring before the warm weather.

Some manufacturers make regular servicing by a qualified engineer a condition of their warranty. If that applies to your system, booking the service on time keeps the record straight and each visit is recorded.

What affects the quote in Standford

A fixed price needs a few facts first. We check:

  • The number of rooms, units or zones
  • Whether we need access equipment for high-level work
  • Whether it’s a simple split or a larger system

Every job is different, so each one gets its own fixed-price quote. The equipment, how we reach it, the route between units and the work needed all play a part.

What we need to know

Photos let us diagnose from a distance. Try to include:

  • The outside wall, roof or yard where the outdoor unit sits or would go
  • A close-up of the unit’s label showing the model number
  • The fuse board and where it is in the property

Every quote starts with a look at the job, either on a site survey or, for simple jobs, from your photos and details. Then you get a fixed price so you know the cost before we begin.

Standford questions

Is Standford within the area you cover?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. A few photos and the postcode are enough to get things started.

Do you cover Standford for air conditioning servicing?

Yes. We work across London and the South East from our base in East Grinstead, and Standford is part of that. Tell us a little about the job and we will take it from there.

Can I do the refrigerant work myself?

Anything that involves the refrigerant needs an F-Gas qualified engineer from a certified company. That’s the law, not just our preference, and it also matters for the manufacturer’s warranty. We are happy to quote for the full job, supply to commissioning.

Do you offer air conditioning maintenance contracts?

Yes, with visits planned to suit how hard the system works. The price is fixed with your quote and you get a record after each visit.

When is an F-gas leak check required?

Under GOV.UK guidance, systems of 5 to under 50 tCO2e need a check at least every 12 months, and 50 to under 500 tCO2e every 6 months. With leak detection fitted, the interval can be doubled and we will confirm which band applies.

Do you work on systems someone else installed?

Yes. Systems fitted by other companies are fine, on all the main brands. Tell us the make and model and send any paperwork you have.

How regularly should I have my air conditioning serviced?

Yearly servicing is the usual starting point and more often for systems in constant use. The manufacturer’s warranty terms may say something about servicing, so it’s worth reading them.

What you can do yourself, and what needs us

On air conditioning, the filters in the indoor unit are normally the one part owners can clean where the manufacturer’s manual explains how. They come out, get a gentle clean and go back only when they’re dry. For a heat pump, the main owner jobs are a clear outdoor unit and sensible control settings.

Leave the units and pipework where they are. Disconnecting a system means dealing with refrigerant, which only a qualified engineer can do, and the electrical side needs a competent person. Ask us to quote for a move instead.

System by system

Condensate drains and pumps

Slime and debris build up in drain trays over time. Cleaning them helps with drips and with musty smells.

Fans and electrics

Both units rely on fans to move air. We check they run smoothly and quietly and clean the indoor fan where dust has built up.

How it works

The visit goes in the diary at a time that works for you, and we keep you posted if anything changes. On arrival, the engineer compares the job with the survey, your pictures or the details you gave us. If something is different, we talk it through with you before carrying on. From there, the work takes anything from an hour for a simple split system to most of a day for a larger installation. Work in Standford is booked in advance at a time that suits you.

  1. We start with the basics, such as the brand, the number of indoor units and any symptoms.
  2. We run the system first and see how it’s performing.
  3. Dust and grime come off the filters and coils, and the drain is flushed so water runs away properly.
  4. The wiring, controls and refrigerant performance are checked, plus a leak check on systems large enough to need one.
  5. A service record follows, with any faults and the options for fixing them.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Unlock any gate, garage or side passage we need
  • Tell us about any building rules, permits or sign-in
  • Let us know where we can park and unload

Get a fixed-price quote

The quickest way to a quote is to send pictures: the room or the existing unit, the outside wall or roof where the outdoor unit sits or would go, and the label on any existing unit. Add the address and what you’d like done, and many jobs can be priced from that.
