Our air conditioning service in SS12

The best installations are planned before a single hole is drilled. We look at each room’s size, glazing, orientation and use, then agree where the indoor and outdoor units go and how the pipework, cable and condensate drain will run, all before the price is fixed. The work covers VRF systems, multi-split systems and ceiling cassettes, and the jobs we see most are a room that’s unbearable on warm days and a business premises that overheats in summer.

We keep the work area tidy as we go, with dust sheets down and offcuts and packaging cleared up. If we need to drill through a wall, we agree the spot with you first. The visit takes anything from a day for one room to several days for a multi-room or ducted system.

  1. First comes a site survey, or photos and measurements for a straightforward job.
  2. Cooling loads are worked out room by room, and the written price names the make, the model and every position.
  3. The units go up and the pipework, cable and condensate drain are run neatly between them.
  4. Power is wired in, the joints are proved leak-tight under pressure and a vacuum pump draws out air and moisture.
  5. We commission the system, show you the controls and leave the F-Gas records and the manufacturer’s warranty details.

How we quote

One room or a whole building, we price it on the same basis: the work involved, the access and the equipment. You will have a fixed price before we start, and the quote sets out the VAT.

Around Wickford

We fit and service air conditioning in homes and premises around St Andrew, Oakfield Primary School and Beauchamps High School. Wickford’s nearest station is Wickford station, about 0.7 miles north-west of the centre. Air conditioning across SS12

From Wickford, Shotgate and North Benfleet outwards, SS12 has every kind of home. Each install starts with a survey of the rooms, the walls and where the outdoor unit can go.

London and the South East cover everything from city flats to rural cottages. Our work is F-Gas certified, NICEIC approved for the electrics and MCS certified for heat pumps.

Wickford: If you work from home near Wickford station, a home office that overheats is one of the easiest rooms to cool. Living close to St Andrew? Some older properties in parts like that are protected, and the survey finds out whether yours is.

What owners can safely do

Owners can handle the everyday basics: keep the outdoor unit clear of leaves, plants and clutter, check the settings and the remote, and follow the cleaning the manual describes. Opening up the units, the electrics and the refrigerant circuit are a job for us.

Some faults have simple causes you can check first: check the mode, the set temperature, the remote’s batteries and the breaker. If the breaker trips a second time, leave it off and call us on 07833 053749 or write to us at info@aircondoctor.co.uk.

After we have gone

How well a system lasts depends on use and care. We suggest:

  • File the paperwork with the manual
  • Never run the system with the filters out
  • Wash or vacuum the filters as the manual describes
  • Leave space around the outdoor unit

Before we leave, the system is commissioned and tested in each mode. We check it’s running as the manufacturer intends, then show you the controls and the timer, so you are confident using it.

Set it and leave it. A moderate set temperature cools the room just as well as the lowest one, without the waste, and close windows and doors while it’s cooling.

Honest limits

We won’t sell you work that does not address the problem, so these are the things it won’t cover:

  • Work that needs permission from a landlord or the council
  • Central heating repairs
  • A lack of fresh air (most split systems recirculate room air rather than bringing fresh air in, which is a job for ventilation)

What happens if it’s left?

Putting up with another summer of portable units and fans rarely makes sense. A properly installed split moves heat outside, keeps the noisy parts out of the room and most of the time heats too, so it earns its keep all year.

What your quote should include

  • Which brand and model they’re proposing, and why
  • If the figure could change on the day
  • Whether they hold F-Gas company certification, not just individual qualifications
  • Whether you get F-Gas records where refrigerant is involved

SS12: your questions answered

Who is responsible for leak checks?

The operator of the equipment, working with qualified engineers. Larger systems need regular checks: at least every 12 months from 5 tCO2e and every 6 months from 50 tCO2e. We can tell you which band your system falls into.

Can landlords and managing agents book you?

Yes. From one rented home to commercial buildings, the approach is the same: survey or diagnosis, a fixed price and proper paperwork.

How long does it take to fit air conditioning?

A single-room system is normally fitted in a day. Multi-split, ducted and cassette systems take longer and the quote says how long to expect.

Does servicing affect my warranty?

It can, for some brands. Send us the make and model and we will tell you what the manufacturer expects and stick to the interval they set.

Will I get records for the system?

Yes. It’s your proof of what was done: the date, the work, and any refrigerant added or recovered.

What size air conditioning unit do I need?

Sizing is done on the survey, room by room. Too small, and it runs flat out; too big, and it switches on and off and wastes energy, so we explain why we have chosen a particular output.

Why does F-Gas certification matter?

F-Gas certification shows a company is approved to work on equipment containing fluorinated gases, such as the refrigerant in air conditioning and heat pumps. That is not optional: it’s required by law, and we hold it.
