Different systems, different jobs

Ceiling cassettes

A cassette needs a void above the ceiling for the unit, pipework and drain, with a condensate pump where the drain can’t fall naturally. We check the ceiling void on the survey.

Ducted systems

Ducted systems need space for the unit and the ductwork plus an access hatch for maintenance. The survey confirms whether there’s room.

Not sure what you need, or where it would go? Send a few pictures of the rooms and the outside walls when you phone us on 07833 053749 or write to us at info@aircondoctor.co.uk, and we will reply the same working day about a survey or a fixed-price quote. For air conditioning in East End of London, one call covers the survey, the fixed-price quote, the installation and the F-Gas paperwork.

Top-floor flats and rooms with big south- or west-facing windows tend to be the first to overheat in London. A single wall-mounted unit in the worst room is often where people start, and a multi-split can cover more rooms from one outdoor unit where space outside is short.

Warranty periods vary by brand and by product. Daikin, for instance, gives a standard 2 years on split air conditioning, with longer extensions only on its air-to-water heat pumps. Whatever the brand, the manufacturer’s terms are explained on your quote.

Air conditioning in East End of London: the local picture

About 36% of homes in East End of London and the neighbourhoods around it have been built since 2000, according to Valuation Office Agency council tax records, and the 2021 Census found about 88% of households live in flats. Newer homes are often easier to fit, with cavity walls and space in the loft for pipework. In flats, the lease and the freeholder normally decide where an outdoor unit can go, and the permitted development rules for flats are tighter. In London, outdoor unit positions, building rules and access tend to need more planning than the install itself.

If you work from home near Shadwell station, a home office that overheats is one of the easiest rooms to cool. Around Church of St Mary, a quick check of the listing and conservation maps is part of planning any install.

FAQs for East End of London

Is East End of London in your area for air conditioning?

Yes, East End of London is within the area we cover. To start, call us on 07833 053749 or use the quote form with a few pictures.

Can you fit air conditioning in a London flat in East End of London?

In many cases, yes, once the lease and the building’s rules are checked. We look at where the outdoor unit could go, such as a balcony, flat roof or rear wall, and write it up for the freeholder or agent.

Which brands do you work with?

We install and work on the leading makes, including Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi. Send us the make and model if you have it.

How long does air conditioning installation take?

Most single-room systems take a day. Multi-split, ducted and cassette systems take longer, and we tell you how long on the quote.

What accreditations do you have?

As the law requires for refrigerant work, we’re an F-Gas certified company. We are also NICEIC approved, MCS certified for heat pumps and Checkatrade members.

When will I hear back?

The same working day. Then we agree a date that works for you, and you get a fixed price before any work goes ahead.

Which type of air conditioning is best?

There’s no single best type. Wall-mounted splits suit single rooms, multi-splits run several rooms from one outdoor unit, ducted systems hide the unit in the ceiling, and cassettes suit offices and larger rooms. We recommend one on the survey and explain why.

Why deal with it now?

Refrigerant rules have changed what new systems use. Since 2025, new single split systems with less than 3 kg of refrigerant cannot use F gases with a GWP above 750, which is why R32, with a GWP of 675, is now common. Older R410A systems have a GWP of 2088. Consents in London blocks can take time, which is another reason to plan the job in East End of London early.

Several rooms, units or sites on one quote often makes better use of the time. Mention every unit or room you need covered and we’ll price it together.

What air conditioning won’t do

Air conditioning cannot fix everything, and we’d rather say so up front. It won’t put right:

  • Central heating repairs
  • Stuffy rooms that need fresh air rather than cooling
  • A room that can’t take an outdoor unit or pipe route without the landlord’s, management company’s or council’s consent (that consent comes first)

If you are not sure, just phone 07833 053749 or email us and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.

What we work on in East End of London

  • Multi-split systems
  • Air-to-air heat pumps
  • Ceiling cassettes
  • Wall-mounted split systems
  • Ducted systems
  • VRF systems

The process

You do not need to do much on the day. Someone needs to let us in and show us the units, or where they’re going, and the rest is down to us. Before we leave, the area is tidied and we explain what we have done. The more we can see beforehand, the smoother the visit to East End of London will be.

  1. We survey the rooms and the outside of the property, or work from pictures and details for simple jobs.
  2. Cooling loads are worked out room by room, and the written price names the make, the model and every position.
  3. The units go up and the pipework, cable and condensate drain are run neatly between them.
  4. We connect the supply, pressure test the pipework and evacuate it before the refrigerant is released.
  5. Last comes the run-up: every mode checked, the controls explained and the paperwork left with you.

Preparing for the visit

  • Give us access to the outside wall, roof or yard where the outdoor unit sits
  • Mention any roof access, ladders or high-level work
  • Let us know if the building has a permit or sign-in process

How to get a quote

Some jobs can be priced from pictures, while others need a survey. Bigger systems, commercial sites and awkward pipe routes are normally surveyed on site. Either way, the quote is fixed before anything goes ahead.

“Excellent service from start to finish. Two wall-mounted units installed in our home. Clean, tidy work: they protected all the floors and left no mess. The systems work brilliantly. Would highly recommend.”
