Your questions about air conditioning in Stepney
Is Stepney in your area for air conditioning?
We do: Stepney falls inside our working area. To start, ring 07833 053749 or email us with a few photos.
Can I have air conditioning in a flat in Stepney?
Usually, yes, though leaseholders normally need the freeholder’s agreement. We look at where the outdoor unit could go, such as a balcony, flat roof or rear wall, and write it up for the freeholder or agent.
Do you work on all makes?
We install and work on the leading makes, from Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin and Fujitsu to Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi. Send us the make and model if you have it.
How long does it take to fit air conditioning?
It takes a day for most single-room installations, with multi-split, ducted and cassette systems taking longer. We confirm the time when we quote, so you can plan around it.
Does servicing affect my warranty?
For some brands, yes. Read the manufacturer’s terms, or send us the make and model and we will explain them, and book the service at the interval they recommend.
How does the warranty work?
Warranty comes from the manufacturer and depends on the brand and product. Daikin, for example, gives a standard 2 years on split air conditioning and we explain the terms for your brand on the quote.
Do you have a 24/7 line?
Yes. For anything urgent, such as a system failing in a server room or water leaking from a unit, ring our 24/7 line and we will tell you what to do first.
How we handle air conditioning in Stepney
We fit wall-mounted splits, multi-split systems, ducted systems and ceiling cassettes, with VRF for larger buildings. Which one suits you depends on the space, the building and how much of the unit you want to see, and we explain the options on the survey. Most split systems we fit in Stepney are reversible: the Energy Saving Trust notes that air-to-air heat pumps are sometimes called air conditioning, which is why many owners use theirs all year.
In Stepney, as across London, the rooms that get hottest are usually under the roof or behind large sunny windows. A single wall-mounted unit in the worst room is often where people start, while a multi-split serves several rooms from one outdoor unit, which helps where outside space is limited.
Each manufacturer sets its own warranty period. For example, Daikin’s standard warranty on split air conditioning is 2 years, and its longer extensions apply to its air-to-water units only. For any other brand, we explain the manufacturer’s terms on your quote.

What we do, step by step
Anything involving refrigerant is handled by F-Gas qualified engineers, as the law requires, and electrical work is done by us as NICEIC approved contractors. So on the day, you don’t need a separate electrician for the electrical side. The work takes a day or more, depending on the number of rooms, the pipe routes and the access. In a London area like Stepney, parking and access are worth sorting out before the day.
- We survey the rooms and the outside of the property, or work from photos and details for simple jobs.
- You receive one fixed figure covering the kit, the fitting and the positions we agreed.
- The indoor unit is fixed in place, the outside unit positioned, and the connecting runs put in tidily.
- We connect the supply, pressure test the pipework and evacuate it before the refrigerant is released.
- Finally, it’s commissioned, tested in each mode and handed over with the F-Gas records.
Before we arrive
- Tell us about access, such as roof hatches, high walls or locked plant areas
- Clear a path to the units and the space around them
- Mention any parking restrictions near the property

Advice
Homes in Stepney and air conditioning
About 30% of homes in Stepney and the neighbourhoods around it have been built since 2000, according to Valuation Office Agency council tax records, and about 87% of households live in flats, according to the 2021 Census. Newer homes are often easier to fit, with cavity walls and space in the loft for pipework. For a flat, we look at balconies, flat roofs and rear walls for the outdoor unit, and the lease often needs checking first. London installs often hinge on outside space, the lease and access to the building.
Older streets near St Peter's Church may fall within a conservation area, so we check the planning position before choosing where the outdoor unit goes. Mansion House (roughly 1.7 miles west) shows the area has its share of heritage. A listed home needs consent before an outdoor unit or pipework goes on.
Stepney is about 2 miles south of Hackney, in Greater London. Wherever you are in the E1 postcode area, we can help with air conditioning. Stepney is one of 764 towns, villages and districts in Greater London we cover.
Our nearest recent job to Stepney was on Greenwich High Road, Greenwich (SE10), about 4 miles south-east: installing a Mitsubishi Electric wall-mounted unit in the retail area and a second unit in the stockroom and office. More about it

Managing agents and facilities teams in Stepney
Under the GB F-gas rules, responsibility for leak checks is shared between whoever operates the equipment and the engineers who work on it. In a let or managed building, it’s worth agreeing who that operator is, and we can work for either side.
Facilities teams in offices, schools and public buildings book us too across Greater London. Larger buildings can be done in stages around the people who use them.

Keeping the system healthy
Aftercare is straightforward, and it helps at the next service:
- Have the system serviced once a year
- Report drips, noises or error codes right away
- Keep the outdoor unit clear of leaves, plants and clutter
The handover includes the records you need: F-Gas records, commissioning details and the manufacturer’s warranty terms. Keep them with the manual, because the manufacturer or a future engineer may ask to see them.
Have the system serviced once a year. A service cleans what you cannot reach and picks up faults before they stop the system and keeps the warranty paperwork right where servicing is a condition.

Ceiling cassettes
A cassette sits flush in a suspended ceiling and spreads air in several directions and they’re a common choice for offices, shops and larger rooms.
Electrical supply
The fuse board is looked at during the survey, so the quote covers any electrical work needed. An older board may need extra work, and we explain why if so.
From one of our customers
“Very professional from the initial survey through to installation. The engineer explained everything clearly and the quote was exactly what we paid. Would not hesitate to recommend AirCon Doctor.”
