How air conditioning works in Medway
We install leading brands, including Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi. The survey ends with a recommendation and the reasons for it, along with the manufacturer’s warranty terms on your quote. The work covers air-to-air heat pumps, VRF systems and ceiling cassettes, and the jobs we see most are an office, shop or restaurant that’s uncomfortable for staff and customers and portable units that are noisy and barely cope.
On the day, we arrive at the time agreed with you and check the plan with you first. Dust sheets go down over floors and anything close to the work, and anything electrical is made safe before work starts. The work itself takes anything from a day for one room to several days for a multi-room or ducted system.
- First comes a site survey, or pictures and measurements for a straightforward job.
- You receive one fixed figure covering the kit, the fitting and the positions we agreed.
- The units go up and the pipework, cable and condensate drain are run neatly between them.
- The electrical supply is connected, and the refrigerant circuit is pressure tested and evacuated.
- Finally, it’s commissioned, tested in each mode and handed over with the F-Gas records.

Landmarks near Gillingham
In Gillingham, that means homes and buildings near The Robert Napier School, Featherby Junior School and The Robert Napier School. Also close by are Holy Trinity Church (within half a mile north-east), The Star pub (0.6 miles west) and Ambley Wood (0.8 miles south). Gillingham’s nearest station is Gillingham (Kent) station, roughly 1.5 miles north-west. Air conditioning across Medway: local notes
Across Medway, from Gillingham, Chatham and Rochester to the villages, homes range from older terraces and cottages to new estates and flats. We survey every property before we quote.
Refrigerant work is done by F-gas qualified engineers for a certified company, and the electrics come under our NICEIC approval. In the coastal parts of Medway, outdoor units benefit from a sheltered position and regular servicing, and some manufacturers offer corrosion-protected coils.
Gillingham: Around Holy Trinity Church, a quick check of the listing and conservation maps is part of planning any install. Restoration House (roughly 3.3 miles west) shows the area has its share of heritage. A listed home needs consent before an outdoor unit or pipework goes on.
When it’s something else
We’d rather tell you now than sell you work that will not help, so here are the limits:
- A building fabric problem such as single glazing or no loft insulation
- A lack of fresh air (most split systems recirculate room air rather than bringing fresh air in, which is a job for ventilation)
- Central heating repairs
What owners can safely do
Before you call us about a fault, a few checks can save a visit: check the mode, the set temperature, the remote’s batteries and the breaker. If the breaker trips a second time, leave it off and call 07833 053749 or write to us at info@aircondoctor.co.uk.
Never try to top up, release or handle refrigerant yourself. Under the F-gas rules, engineers need their own qualifications and the company must be certified, and escaping refrigerant can cause cold burns. A suspected leak is our job, not yours.
Looking after your system
Here’s the after-treatment advice, short and simple:
- Refit filters properly after cleaning
- Tell us if the unit starts to leak, rattle or show a code
- File the paperwork with the manual
- Keep the indoor unit’s filters clean
We clear up before we go: sheets removed, packaging cleared up and pipe holes sealed. Pipework outside is covered in trunking or insulated and neatly fixed as agreed on the survey.
Don’t ignore small changes. A drip, a noise or a flashing light is often an early sign of a fault, and early repairs are usually simpler.
Managing agents and facilities teams in Medway
Running several properties is easier with one contractor. Our area covers Greater London and the South East, so work at different addresses can be planned together and kept on a regular cycle.
If you look after several properties, we can quote and plan the work across all of them. Each property gets its own records, so the files stay tidy.
Your questions about air conditioning in Medway
Can I do any of the installation myself?
Anything that involves the refrigerant needs an F-Gas qualified engineer from a certified company. That is a legal requirement, and it also matters for the manufacturer’s warranty. We can quote for the whole job, from supply to commissioning.
Do I need a new electrical circuit?
Most of the time. We check your consumer unit on the survey and include any electrical work on the quote and we install and certify the circuit as NICEIC approved contractors.
Will you work on another installer’s system?
Yes. We work on systems fitted by other installers as well as our own, on all the main brands. Tell us the make and model and send any paperwork you have.
Are you F-Gas certified?
F-Gas certified, NICEIC approved and MCS certified for heat pumps, and we’re Checkatrade members. Our engineers also hold the individual F-gas qualifications needed to work on refrigerant.
Which brands do you work with?
We install and work on the leading makes, including Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi. Tell us the make and model and we will take it from there.
Do I need to service the system to keep the warranty?
For some brands, yes. Read the manufacturer’s terms, or send us the make and model and we’ll explain them and stick to the interval they set.
Should I choose wall-mounted, ducted or cassette?
It depends on the rooms and the building. Wall-mounted splits suit single rooms, multi-splits run several rooms from one outdoor unit, ducted systems hide the unit in the ceiling, and cassettes suit offices and larger rooms. We recommend one on the survey and explain why.
