About air conditioning in SO52
Single-room systems are typically £1,200–£2,200 + VAT, while a two-room multi-split is typically £2,800–£4,500 + VAT and three to five rooms £4,500–£8,500 + VAT. Supply, installation, commissioning and F-Gas documentation are all included, and commercial VRF systems are priced after a survey. The work covers ceiling cassettes, wall-mounted split systems and multi-split systems, and common reasons people get in touch are a study or office that overheats during the day and uncertainty over the right type and size of system.
Protection comes first: sheets over the floor and any furniture nearby, and we ask before moving anything. Then the electrics are made safe and the work begins. It takes a day or more, depending on the number of rooms, the pipe routes and the access, and we tidy up before we leave.
- We survey the property, or work from your photos for a simple job.
- Output, positions and price are settled before anything is booked.
- On the day, dust sheets go down and the indoor and outdoor units are fitted.
- We run and connect the pipes, cable and drain, then pressure test and evacuate the circuit.
- The system is commissioned, the controls explained and the F-Gas records handed over.
How we quote
A single unit or a whole estate, the quote is built the same way: the work involved, the access and the equipment. The price is fixed before work begins, with VAT shown clearly.
What you get with us
- F-Gas company certification
- Checkatrade member
- MCS certification for heat pump work
- One contact for properties across the South East and London
Getting a quote
Some jobs can be priced from photos, while others need a survey. Multi-room systems, commercial buildings and anything with a long or hidden pipe route are normally surveyed first. Either way, the quote is fixed before anything goes ahead.

Air conditioning across SO52: local notes
In SO52, we install in places such as Chandler's Ford, North Baddesley and Hiltingbury and well beyond. Every place on our SO52 list (4 in all) is covered.

North Baddesley: With historic houses such as South Stoneham House about 4.1 miles south-east, it’s a reminder that older homes nearby may be listed, which changes the planning rules. Around All Saints, a quick check of the listing and conservation maps is part of planning any install.
How we price air conditioning
Some jobs are bigger than they look, and some smaller. The main factors:
- The pipe route between the units
- One-off work versus a regular service cycle
- How many units are involved
- The equipment or parts the job needs
Typical ranges are on our prices page, but your price depends on the job in front of us. Call for a fixed-price quote, and we’ll talk you through it.
What we need to know
You don’t need the technical terms. Just send:
- Photos showing the indoor unit and the space around it
- The remote or wall controller showing any error
- The outside wall, roof or yard where the outdoor unit sits or would go
- The fuse board and where it is in the property
Photos are the fastest route to a quote: the room or the existing unit, the outside wall or roof where the outdoor unit sits or would go, and the label on any existing unit. Tell us the address and what you need, and many jobs can be priced from that.
For landlords and property managers
Larger air conditioning systems in buildings need more than servicing: systems with an effective rated output over 12 kW need a TM44 inspection by an accredited energy assessor at least every 5 years. We arrange the inspection, get the system ready and put right anything it picks up.
Under the GB F-gas rules, responsibility for leak checks is shared between whoever operates the equipment and the engineers who work on it. In a let or managed building, it’s worth agreeing who that operator is and we’re happy to deal with whoever it is.
What the work involves, system by system
Wall-mounted split systems
Bedrooms, offices and living spaces are where wall-mounted units are most often fitted. We choose the position for even airflow and easy filter access, and away from where the air would blow straight onto people.
Multi-split systems
Indoor units on a multi-split do not all have to look the same, choosing what suits each room, as the manufacturer allows. We plan the mix on the survey.
Common problems we fix in SO52
Most overheating comes from heat gained through the day. Sunshine through glazing, especially on south and west-facing rooms, adds a lot of heat, and once the room has warmed up, it holds on to it into the evening.
Most people get in touch after spotting one of these:
- Portable units that are noisy and barely cope
- A loft room or top floor that bakes in summer
- An ageing air conditioning system near the end of its life
- Too many options and no clear advice
SO52: your questions answered
Do I need planning permission?
It depends on the system and the property. Heat pumps on houses in England can be permitted development when they meet set conditions, including the MCS 020(a) noise check, while a unit that only cools isn’t covered and needs checking with the council. Flats, listed buildings and conservation areas have tighter rules. This is general information, not legal advice.
Will I get records for the system?
Yes. Each visit is written up, including F-Gas records for any refrigerant work. File them with the system’s paperwork.
Do you work on commercial properties?
Yes. Homeowners, landlords, agents and businesses all book us across London and the South East. Let us know who the records should go to.
When will I hear back?
On the same working day you contact us. Then we agree a date that works for you, with a fixed price before work starts.
Is air conditioning possible in a flat?
It depends on the building and the lease. An outdoor unit can sometimes go on a balcony, roof or rear wall, with consent, and we check the options on the survey. This is general information, not legal advice.
Can you set up regular servicing?
Yes. Maintenance contracts are part of what we do, with visits at the interval your system and the manufacturer need. Every visit is recorded, with F-Gas records where refrigerant work is involved.
Will you work on another installer’s system?
Yes. Systems fitted by other companies are fine from all the leading brands. Send us the make and model, and any records you have.
