About air conditioning in MK4

Across MK4, every installation follows the same steps: a site survey, or pictures for simple jobs, then a fixed-price quote, the installation, commissioning and F-Gas records. You know the price before we start and the paperwork is in your hands when we finish. Common call-outs are for rooms heated by plug-in heaters and uncertainty over the right type and size of system, on multi-split systems, ducted systems and ceiling cassettes.

The visit goes in the diary at a time that works for you, and we let you know if plans need to move. On arrival, the engineer compares the job with the survey, your pictures or the details you gave us. Anything unexpected is raised with you before we go further. From there, the work takes a day or more, depending on the number of rooms, the pipe routes and the access.

  1. We start by looking at the rooms, the walls and where the outdoor unit can go.
  2. We size the system for each room, then send a fixed-price quote with the units and where they go.
  3. The units go up and the pipework, cable and condensate drain are run neatly between them.
  4. The electrical supply is connected, and the refrigerant circuit is pressure tested and evacuated.
  5. We commission the system, show you the controls and leave the F-Gas records and the manufacturer’s warranty details.

What you’ll pay

Typical ranges are on our prices page, but each job is priced on what it involves. For a fixed-price quote, phone 07833 053749 or drop us a line, and we’ll talk you through it.

Why book with us

  • MCS certification for heat pump work
  • Warranty terms set out brand by brand
  • Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba and more
  • Electrical work covered by our NICEIC approval

Getting a price

Getting a quote is straightforward. Send a few details and pictures, and we reply the same working day. If we need to see the property first, we book a survey at a time that works for you.

Local landmarks in Westcroft

Locally, jobs take us to houses, flats and workplaces close to Shenley Brook End School, Oxley Park Academy and Nut & Squirrel pub. The nearest railway station is Milton Keynes Central station, roughly 2.4 miles north-east. Well-known places in the area include The Holley/Cornelius Collection (2.3 miles east) and Bletchley Community Hospital (2.2 miles east). For a walk, there’s Furzton Lake and Blue Lagoon Park.

Where we install in MK4

Across MK4, from Bletchley, Furzton and Westcroft to the villages, homes range from older terraces and cottages to new estates and flats. We survey every property before we quote, then a fixed-price quote.

An F-Gas certified company does the refrigerant side, while NICEIC approval covers the electrical work, in MK4 as everywhere else.

Westcroft: Around St Giles's Church, a quick check of the listing and conservation maps is part of planning any install. About 2.4 miles east stands Bletchley Park. Listed homes in any area need consent first, so tell us if yours is one.

When something else is needed

Before you book, it helps to know what’s not included:

  • Central heating repairs
  • A room that cannot take an outdoor unit or pipe route without the landlord’s, management company’s or council’s consent (that consent comes first)
  • A building fabric problem such as single glazing or no loft insulation

After we’ve gone

Systems last better with the right care. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Keep the indoor unit’s filters clean
  • Keep the F-Gas records, commissioning details and warranty information together
  • Never run the system with the filters out
  • Choose a comfortable set temperature rather than the lowest

We clear up before we go: sheets removed, packaging cleared up and pipe holes sealed. Pipework outside is covered in trunking or insulated and neatly fixed, so the job looks as tidy as it works.

Report drips, noises or error codes early. Water from the indoor unit, a new rattle or a code on the display normally means something needs attention, and early repairs are usually simpler.

Safe owner checks

Write down what you notice: an error code, a new noise, a drip, a smell or a change in how well the system heats or cools. It helps us diagnose quickly, and a photo or a short video of the display is even better.

Leave the units and pipework where they are. Moving a unit involves the refrigerant circuit, so it needs an F-Gas qualified engineer, and the electrical side needs a competent person. If you need something moved, we can quote for it.

Fixed-price quotes for air conditioning in MK4

You will get a fixed price before we start. It’s based on:

  • How far the pipework has to run, and where
  • What we find on the survey or diagnosis
  • The number of rooms, units or zones
  • The equipment or parts the job needs

What you pay depends on the system and the number of rooms or units, how easy the units are to reach and the parts and time the job needs. You get a fixed price before any work starts, so there are no surprises.

Helping us quote

Photos let us diagnose from a distance. The most useful are:

  • A few photos of the room and the wall the unit is on, or will go on
  • Where the property is and what kind of building it is
  • The fuse board and where it is in the property
  • A close-up of the unit’s label showing the model number

Quoting starts with a diagnosis, either on a site survey or, for simple jobs, from your pictures and details. Then you get a fixed price before any work starts.

MK4: your questions answered

How quickly will you reply?

We reply to enquiries the same working day. For a breakdown that can’t wait, call our 24/7 emergency line.

Are you F-Gas certified?

F-Gas certified, NICEIC approved and MCS certified for heat pumps, plus Checkatrade membership. Engineers who handle refrigerant hold their own F-gas qualifications as well.

Can air conditioning heat my home as well?

Typically, yes. Running as a heat pump, it moves heat in from outside rather than making it from electricity alone. If you want it to replace your main heating, ask about air-to-air heat pumps and the conditions for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant.

Can you fit air conditioning in a leasehold flat?

That depends on the lease, the building and where the outdoor unit could go. An outdoor unit can sometimes go on a balcony, roof or rear wall, with consent, and we check the options on the survey. This is general information, not legal advice.

Is planning permission needed for the outdoor unit?

It depends on the system and the property. Heat pumps on houses in England can be permitted development when they meet set conditions, including the MCS 020(a) noise check, but a cooling-only unit is not covered, so check with the council. Flats, listed buildings and conservation areas have tighter rules. This is general information, not legal advice.

Should I choose wall-mounted, ducted or cassette?

The right one depends on how many rooms you want to cool, how much space there is outside and how visible you want the indoor units to be. Ducted systems need a ceiling void or loft, and cassettes need a suspended ceiling and the survey confirms what’s possible.

Will you make a mess?

We start with protection: dust sheets over floors and anything close to the work. Any drilling is agreed with you first, and we clear up the dust and offcuts before we leave.
