How air conditioning works in MK15
Most modern split systems run as heat pumps, so they can heat as well as cool. The Energy Saving Trust makes the same point: an air-to-air heat pump is what many people simply call air conditioning, and a well-chosen system can earn its keep all year round. The work covers ducted systems, wall-mounted split systems and VRF systems, and common reasons people get in touch are fans and portables that don’t keep up and a loft conversion that’s too warm to use.
Our engineers bring the tools, gauges and access equipment the job needs. All we ask is clear access to the units, or to where they’ll go, and to the consumer unit. On site, the work takes anything from a day for one room to several days for a multi-room or ducted system.
- First comes a site survey, or pictures and measurements for a straightforward job.
- We size the system for each room, then send a fixed-price quote with the units and where they go.
- On the day, we fit the indoor and outdoor units and run the pipework, cable and condensate drain.
- The electrical supply is connected, and the refrigerant circuit is pressure tested and evacuated.
- Last comes the run-up: every mode checked, the controls explained and the paperwork left with you.

Air conditioning across MK15
From Middleton, Broughton and Oakgrove outwards, MK15 has every kind of home. We survey every property before we quote.
From London flats to coastal homes and country cottages, London and the South East have every kind of property. Our work is F-Gas certified, NICEIC approved for the electrics and MCS certified for heat pumps.
Willen: Homes near Church of St Mary Magdalene are a good example of where we look up the heritage status of the building before fixing anything to it. Linford Manor, about 1.8 miles west, is one of the historic houses nearby, and if your own home is listed, consent comes before any air conditioning is fixed to it.
Keeping the system healthy
Think of this as the after-treatment advice, short and simple:
- Use moderate settings for comfort and economy
- Refit filters properly after cleaning
- Keep the room closed while it runs
- Keep to the service interval the manufacturer recommends
An annual service keeps the system running efficiently, and some manufacturers make servicing a warranty condition. We can remind you when it’s due if you’d like.
Give the outdoor unit room to breathe. Anything piled against it, from leaves to garden furniture, reduces the airflow, and the system has to work harder as a result.
What owners can safely do
On air conditioning, the filters in the indoor unit are usually the one part owners can clean, if the manual says so. They come out, get a gentle clean and go back only when they’re dry. For a heat pump, the main owner jobs are a clear outdoor unit and sensible control settings.
Write down what you notice: an error code, a new noise, a drip, a smell or a change in how well the system heats or cools. It makes our diagnosis quicker, and a photo or a short video of the display is even better.
For landlords and property managers
Portfolio owners often want one contractor and one number. We work across London and the South East, so work at different addresses can be planned together and kept on a regular cycle.
For anyone managing more than one building, we can quote and plan the work across all of them. Every address has its own paperwork, so the files stay tidy.
Pricing air conditioning in MK15
Jobs vary more than people expect. The main factors:
- Whether it’s a simple split or a larger system
- The pipe route between the units
- Whether it’s a one-off job or part of a maintenance contract
- How many units are involved
Height, access and the distance between the indoor and outdoor units can all change the price. Each of those is built into the quote, and the price is fixed before any work starts.
Asking for a quote
Good photos often save a visit. Try to include:
- Your consumer unit or fuse board
- Your installation or service records
- A close-up of the unit’s label showing the model number
- Where the outdoor unit is, or where you’d like it
To help us quote: the address and the type of property, photos of the rooms or units, the make and model of any existing system and anything you’ve noticed, such as an error code or a noise. Once you have those, phone us on 07833 053749, or email if that’s easier.
Common questions in MK15
Do I need a new electrical circuit?
Most systems need their own supply from the consumer unit. Under Part P, a new circuit has to be notified unless a registered competent person does it, and as NICEIC approved contractors we install and certify it as part of the job.
Do you survey before quoting?
Yes, always. We diagnose before we treat: the survey shows what’s needed, where things go and what access we need, and the quote is based on that.
What size air conditioning unit do I need?
It depends on the room, not only its floor area. Glazing, orientation, the roof and what goes on in the room all affect it, and we take them all into account on the survey.
What accreditations do you have?
F-Gas company certification, NICEIC approval for electrical work and MCS certification for heat pumps, plus Checkatrade membership. Our engineers also hold the individual F-gas qualifications needed to work on refrigerant.
How does the warranty work?
It’s the manufacturer’s, and the terms are theirs. Some brands make regular servicing a condition, so keep your service records.
Who has to arrange F-Gas leak checks?
Responsibility is shared between the operator, typically whoever owns or controls the equipment, and the service technicians. The interval depends on the refrigerant charge, measured in tonnes of CO2 equivalent: at least every 12 months from 5 tCO2e, and every 6 months from 50 tCO2e.
