How air conditioning works in MK13
Not sure what you need, or where it would go? Send a few photos of the rooms and the outside walls when you give us a ring on 07833 053749, or email if that’s easier, and you’ll hear back from us the same working day to arrange a survey or a quote. Common call-outs are for a portable unit with a hose out of the window and a system on old refrigerant that’s due for replacement, on ducted systems, VRF systems and ceiling cassettes.
You don’t need to do much on the day. Just let us in and point us to the units, or to where they’ll be fitted, and the rest is down to us. At the end, we tidy up and run through the work with you.
- First the diagnosis: a survey of the rooms, the walls, the outside and the electrics.
- Next, a recommendation for each room and a fixed price.
- The treatment: units fitted, pipework and drain routed, and the electrics installed.
- Before it runs, the pipework is proved tight and put under vacuum.
- The sign-off: commissioning, a walk through the controls, and the F-Gas records and warranty details.
Pricing in MK13
One room or a whole building, we price it on the same basis: the work involved, the access and the equipment. You will have a fixed price before any work starts, and the quote sets out the VAT.

What’s near Bradville
Around Bradville, our work takes us to homes and businesses near Christ Church, Stantonbury Campus and Campbell Park. Also close by are Halley's Comet pub (less than half a mile north-west), Stantonbury Campus (0.5 miles north-east) and Pepper Hill School (less than half a mile north). The nearest railway station is Wolverton station, roughly 1.1 miles north-west of the centre. A little further out are Midsummer Place (1.5 miles south-east) and Badminton Museum (1.4 miles south). The countryside around Bradville includes Lodge Lake and Little Linford Wood.
Air conditioning across MK13
From Bradville, Bradwell and Two Mile Ash outwards, MK13 has every kind of home. We survey every property before we quote.
From London flats to coastal homes and country cottages, London and the South East have every kind of property. Our work is F-Gas certified, NICEIC approved for the electrics and MCS certified for heat pumps.
Bradville: Linford Manor (roughly 1.5 miles north-east) shows the area has its share of heritage. A listed home needs consent before an outdoor unit or pipework goes on. Living close to Christ Church? Some older properties in parts like that are protected, and the survey finds out whether yours is.
When something else is needed
Not every problem is solved by air conditioning, and we’ll tell you before we start. It will not put right:
- A building fabric problem such as single glazing or no loft insulation
- Building damp that has a structural cause
- Problems with a gas boiler or the radiators
What affects the cost of air conditioning
Typical ranges are on our prices page, and your quote is built on your job. The quote depends on:
- The pipe route between the units
- Which make and model is being fitted or worked on
- The electrical supply and whether a new circuit is needed
- How easy the units are to reach
Our prices page shows typical ranges, but your price depends on the job in front of us. For a fixed-price quote, phone 07833 053749 or write to us at info@aircondoctor.co.uk, and we’ll explain what it covers.
Asking for a quote
Photos and a few facts are often enough to price a simple job. Send what you can of the following:
- A few photos of the room and the wall the unit is on, or will go on
- The rating plate or label on any existing unit
- The outside wall, roof or yard where the outdoor unit sits or would go
- Any error code or flashing light on the display
To help us quote: the address and the type of property, pictures of the rooms or units, the make and model of any existing system and any symptoms, from error codes to drips. Once you have those, call 07833 053749 or drop us a line.
Why act early?
Refrigerant rules have changed what new systems use. From 2025, single splits under 3 kg cannot use refrigerants with a GWP over 750, so new splits use refrigerants such as R32, with a GWP of 675. Older R410A systems have a GWP of 2088.
Questions to ask before you book
- Whether the price is fixed or an estimate
- Which brand and model they’re proposing, and why
- Whether they hold F-Gas company certification, not just individual qualifications
- Whether extra work needs your approval first
Owner checks or an engineer?
There are a few things you can safely do yourself: keeping the outdoor unit clear, checking the mode and set temperature, and the routine cleaning in the manual. Opening up the units, the electrics and the refrigerant circuit are a job for us.
Never try to top up, release or handle refrigerant yourself. The law requires anyone working on equipment containing F gas to hold the right qualifications, and the company to be certified, and escaping refrigerant can cause cold burns. A suspected leak is our job, not yours.
Your questions about air conditioning in MK13
Does air conditioning work as heating?
Yes, most modern split systems run as heat pumps, so they can heat a room in winter. The Energy Saving Trust points out that an air-to-air heat pump is often just called air conditioning. Some cooling-only models exist, so we confirm it for the model on your quote.
Will you make a mess?
We put dust sheets over floors and furniture near the work first, and the area is kept tidy throughout. Before we leave, we clear up and run through the work with you.
Will I need planning permission?
That depends on what’s being fitted and where. Heat pumps on houses in England can be permitted development when they meet set conditions, including the MCS 020(a) noise check, but a cooling-only unit isn’t covered, so check with the council. Listed buildings, conservation areas and flats have extra limits. This is general information, not legal advice.
Can I fit air conditioning or a heat pump myself?
The refrigerant side has to be done by a qualified engineer working for an F-Gas certified company. That is the law, not just our preference, and it also matters for the manufacturer’s warranty. We can quote for the whole job, from supply to commissioning.
How long will the installation take?
It takes a day or more, depending on the number of rooms, the pipe routes and the access. The survey tells us how long your installation will need, so you can plan around it.
Do you look at the job first?
Yes. We always look before we price, either on a site survey or from pictures and details for simple jobs. A fixed-price quote follows.
What does F-Gas certified mean?
For refrigerant work, both the engineer and the company need the right F-gas credentials. It’s worth checking before booking and we’ll gladly show you ours.
