Our air conditioning service in BN7

Wall-mounted, multi-split, ducted and cassette systems are all part of what we install, plus VRF systems for bigger commercial buildings. The right choice depends on the rooms, the building and how visible you want the indoor units to be, and we explain the options on the survey. Common call-outs are for rooms heated by plug-in heaters and portable units that are noisy and barely cope, across multi-split systems, ceiling cassettes and air-to-air heat pumps.

There’s very little for you to do on the day. Someone needs to let us in and show us the units, or where they’re going, and we take it from there. Before we leave, the area is tidied and we explain what we’ve done.

  1. First the diagnosis: a survey of the rooms, the walls, the outside and the electrics.
  2. Then the prescription: the right system and size for each room, on a fixed-price quote.
  3. The treatment: units fitted, pipework and drain routed, and the electrics installed.
  4. Testing: the circuit is pressure tested and evacuated before the refrigerant is released.
  5. The sign-off: commissioning, a walk through the controls, and the F-Gas records and warranty details.

What affects the price in BN7

The pipe route, the height of the units and how we reach them can all change the price. Each of those is built into the quote, and the price is fixed before we start.

How to get a quote

Photos are the fastest route to a quote: the room or the existing unit, the outside wall or roof where the outdoor unit sits or would go, and the label on any existing unit. Add the address and what you’d like done, and simple jobs can often be priced without a visit.

Local landmarks in Lewes

Air conditioning around BN7

Across BN7, from Lewes, Telscombe and South Malling to the villages, homes range from older terraces and cottages to new estates and flats. We survey every property before we quote, then a fixed-price quote.

Enquiries from BN7 get a reply on the working day they arrive. Breakdowns can go to the 24/7 line instead.

Lewes: Older streets near Church of St John sub Castro may fall within a conservation area, so we check the planning position before choosing where the outdoor unit goes. Plenty of people near Lewes station split the week between the train and a spare room, and that spare room is often the first to get a unit.

When something else is needed

Before booking, it helps to know what’s not included:

  • Stuffy rooms that need fresh air rather than cooling
  • Problems with a gas boiler or the radiators
  • A building fabric problem such as single glazing or no loft insulation

What affects the cost of air conditioning

Your quote is based on your property. We take into account:

  • Which make and model is being fitted or worked on
  • How many units are involved
  • Whether it’s a simple split or a larger system
  • Whether the existing supply is suitable

Several rooms, units or sites on one quote can make for a more efficient booking. Mention every unit or room you need covered and we’ll price it together.

Asking for a quote

The more you tell us, the more accurate the quote. When you get in touch, it helps to send:

  • Your consumer unit or fuse board
  • The outside wall, roof or yard where the outdoor unit sits or would go
  • Wide photos of the room or the existing unit
  • The remote or wall controller showing any error

If you need air conditioning in BN7, call 07833 053749 or write to us at info@aircondoctor.co.uk. Let us know the type of property and what you need, and send a few pictures if you can. We reply the same working day.

Different systems, different jobs

Wall-mounted split systems

For one room, a wall-mounted split is often the simplest answer. One unit inside, one outside, connected by pipework, a cable and a drain, with the route agreed on the survey.

Outdoor unit positions

Noise is part of the decision: away from bedroom windows and neighbours’ windows where possible and fitted so vibration doesn’t carry into the building. It can also affect whether planning permission is needed.

Why act early?

New systems now use lower-impact refrigerants. Since 2025, new single split systems with less than 3 kg of refrigerant can’t use F gases with a GWP above 750, so new splits use refrigerants such as R32, with a GWP of 675. R410A, used in many older systems, has a GWP of 2088.

What your quote should include

  • Whether they hold F-Gas company certification, not just individual qualifications
  • What happens if the job turns out to be different on the day
  • Whether a new circuit is included and who certifies it
  • Whether the quote is a fixed price

FAQs for BN7

How do I know what size unit to get?

Sizing is done on the survey, room by room. Too small, and it runs flat out; too big, and it switches on and off and wastes energy and we explain the output we recommend.

Will you work on another installer’s system?

Yes. We start with a proper look and tell you honestly what we find, including anything about the original installation that needs putting right. You get a fixed price before any work goes ahead.

Is air conditioning possible in a flat?

That depends on the lease, the building and where the outdoor unit could go. Balconies, flat roofs and rear walls can all work, subject to consent and the survey looks at every option. This is general information, not legal advice.

Which manufacturers do you install and repair?

We work with the leading brands, from Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin and Fujitsu to Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi. Tell us the make and model and we’ll take it from there.

Why does F-Gas certification matter?

The law says any company working on equipment containing F gas has to be certified, and each engineer needs the right qualifications too. It means the refrigerant in your system is handled legally.

Whose job is it to check the system for leaks?

The operator of the equipment, working with qualified engineers. Systems below 5 tCO2e fall outside the set leak check intervals, while larger ones need checks at least every 12 months, or every 6 months from 50 tCO2e. We will work out which band applies to yours.

Should I choose wall-mounted, ducted or cassette?

Number of rooms, space outside and how much of the unit you want to see all decide it. Ducted units need a void or loft, and cassettes need a suspended ceiling, which we check on the survey.
