Air source heat pumps in Worth
An air-to-water heat pump heats water to a lower temperature than a typical boiler which means some radiators may need upsizing. We check each radiator against the room’s heat loss and anything that needs changing is in the quote. If you are dealing with moving away from fossil-fuel heating and choosing between air-to-water and air-to-air, we can help.
Older and listed homes in villages like Worth need extra care, because permitted development doesn’t apply within the grounds of a listed building, so we check consent first.
Refrigerant work is written up in the F-Gas records: the work carried out, the refrigerant involved and the quantities. Keep the records with the manual and the warranty documents, as a manufacturer or a future engineer may ask to see them.

How the visit works
The visit has three parts, a bit like a doctor’s appointment: look, put right and sign off. First we check the system or the space against the plan, then the work itself, and finally everything is tested, recorded and explained. Most of the time goes on the middle part, which takes several days for an air-to-water system with a new cylinder, less for an air-to-air system. For a place like Worth, the timing is set with you and the travel is our side of the planning.
- First we find out about the property, the heating you have now and what you are hoping for.
- A heat loss survey works out how much heat each room needs, and we look at the radiators, the cylinder space and where the outdoor unit could go.
- The price comes back fixed and in writing, with the grant and VAT shown line by line.
- Installation covers the outdoor unit, the indoor connections and the controls.
- Commissioning, MCS certification and a handover of the controls finish the job.
Before we arrive
- Let us know if the units are on a roof, a high wall or in a locked area
- Have the make and model of any existing unit to hand
- Let us know where we can park and unload

Air source heat pumps in Worth: the local picture
Worth lies within about 3 miles of the sea. Near the coast, we choose the outdoor unit position with salt-laden wind in mind. The 2021 Census found about 66% of households in detached or semi-detached houses. Finding room for the outdoor unit and a cylinder is seldom a problem in homes like these.
If your home is one of the older properties near Church of St Peter and St Paul, the survey checks whether it’s listed or in a conservation area before the outdoor unit position is chosen. Walmer Castle lies about 4.5 miles south-east. Owners of listed homes need consent before a heat pump is fitted, so it’s one of our first questions.
Worth is about 3 miles north-west of Deal, in Kent. Our engineers cover Worth for air source heat pumps, along with the rest of Kent. Count every place we list in Kent and you reach 922, with Worth on the list. Eastbourne, roughly 56 miles off, has its own page on this site.
If your postcode is in CT14, we can take the job on. The Street, Temple Way and St Crispin Close and the roads off them are all inside our area. We also work in nearby towns such as Canterbury (12 miles west), Margate (9 miles north), Dover (8 miles south) and Folkestone (14 miles south-west).

Looking after it afterwards
Think of this as the after-treatment advice, in brief:
- Leave space around the outdoor unit
- Look at insulation alongside the heat pump
- Use the settings explained at handover
In cold, damp weather the outdoor unit runs a defrost cycle from time to time. You might see steam or hear the unit change note, and that’s normal.
Let the heat pump run steadily rather than switching it on and off as explained at handover.
FAQs for Worth
Do you cover smaller places like Worth?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Send a few details and pictures, and we reply the same working day.
Will a heat pump in Worth need planning permission?
There’s no single answer: the building and the outdoor unit position decide it. A conservation area takes in the middle of Worth. Heat pumps on houses are often permitted development, but listed buildings need consent and conservation areas restrict outdoor units facing a road. Where it’s needed, we check with the local planning authority (for Worth, typically Dover council).
Can I do the refrigerant work myself?
Anything that involves the refrigerant needs an F-Gas qualified engineer from a certified company. That’s the law, not just our preference, and it also matters for the manufacturer’s warranty. We can quote for the whole job, from supply to commissioning.
Why does F-Gas certification matter?
The law says any company working on equipment containing F gas has to be certified, and each engineer needs the right qualifications too. It’s how you know the refrigerant is being handled legally and safely.
Is the equipment covered by a warranty?
Warranty is the manufacturer’s own, on its terms. Terms differ by brand, and we set them out on your quote.
Do you work for landlords and businesses?
Yes. Homeowners, landlords, agents and businesses all book us across London and the South East. Let us know who the records should go to.
How long does a heat pump installation take?
As a guide, it takes a few days on site, depending on the cylinder, the radiators and the pipework involved. We plan the work so you’re without heating for as little time as possible, and we explain it in advance.
Leave it or put it right?
For eligible off-gas homes on oil or LPG, an extra £1,500 is on offer until March 2027. For homes that qualify, that’s a reason to look into it now. Getting the date in early helps for a place like Worth.
Homes, offices, shops and public buildings are all priced the same way: the equipment, the access, the work involved and the time it takes. Ask for a fixed-price quote and we will explain each part.
