Air source heat pumps near Quarrendon Estate

About our air source heat pumps in Quarrendon Estate

Every installation starts with a heat loss survey. That tells us how much heat the home needs, room by room, so the heat pump and the radiators or indoor units can be sized properly. Sizing by rule of thumb isn’t good enough. The work covers underfloor heating, air-to-water heat pumps and homes heated by oil, LPG or gas, and the jobs we see most are no space for a hot water cylinder and plans to switch to electric heating with a heat pump.

If your home near Quarrendon Estate has no mains gas, the grant can be bigger. Homes heated by oil or LPG with no mains gas can get an extra £1,500 on the Boiler Upgrade Scheme until March 2027.

Refrigerant work is written up in the F-Gas records: what was done, the refrigerant type and any amount added or recovered. Keep the records with the manual and the warranty documents, as a manufacturer or a future engineer may ask to see them.

What owners can safely do

Refrigerant is off limits for anyone without the right qualifications. The law requires anyone working on equipment containing F gas to hold the right qualifications, and the company to be certified, and refrigerant lines can cause cold burns. A suspected leak is our job, not yours.

For air conditioning, cleaning the indoor unit’s filters is the main job owners can do where the manufacturer’s manual explains how. With the power off, they lift out, can be vacuumed or rinsed and must be fully dry before they go back. For a heat pump, the main owner jobs are a clear outdoor unit and sensible control settings.

What we’re called out for in Quarrendon Estate

For homes with no mains gas, heated by oil or LPG, a heat pump is well worth considering. The Boiler Upgrade Scheme includes an extra £1,500, until March 2027, for air source or ground source heat pumps in homes heated by oil or LPG with no mains gas, subject to the scheme rules.

Customers normally contact us after spotting something like this:

  • Planning and permitted development questions
  • Wanting to stop using oil, LPG or gas for heating
  • Deciding on the outdoor unit position

If your home is one of the older properties near St Peter's, the survey checks whether it’s listed or in a conservation area before the outdoor unit position is chosen.

Questions to ask before you book

  • Whether you get F-Gas records where refrigerant is involved
  • If the figure could change on the day
  • What happens if the job turns out to be different on the day

How to choose an air conditioning engineer

Your questions about air source heat pumps in Quarrendon Estate

Do you cover smaller places like Quarrendon Estate?

Yes. Quarrendon Estate is within the area we cover across London and the South East. A few pictures and the postcode are enough to get things started.

Does the Boiler Upgrade Scheme cover homes in Quarrendon Estate?

Quarrendon Estate is covered, as the scheme runs across England and Wales. For an air-to-water heat pump the amount is £7,500; an air-to-air system can get £2,500 if it replaces the fossil-fuel heating outright, meets the home’s full heating demand and is not an add-on to a boiler. We hold MCS certification, so the application is ours to make for you.

Can I do the refrigerant work myself?

The refrigerant side has to be done by a qualified engineer working for an F-Gas certified company. That’s the law, not just our preference, and it also matters for the manufacturer’s warranty. We’re happy to quote for the full job, supply to commissioning.

Can landlords and managing agents book you?

Yes. Homeowners, landlords, agents and businesses all book us in Quarrendon Estate and across Buckinghamshire. Tell us who should receive the paperwork.

Do you look at the job first?

Yes. We always look before we price, on a survey, or from your photos and details where the job is simple. A fixed-price quote follows.

Which brands do you work with?

We install and work on the leading makes, including Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi. Tell us the make and model and we’ll take it from there.

What warranty do I get?

Warranty comes from the manufacturer and depends on the brand and product. For example, Daikin’s standard warranty on split air conditioning is 2 years, and we explain the terms for whichever brand you choose.

At about 39 miles from central London, Quarrendon Estate sits inside the area we cover across London and the South East. VOA council tax data show about 37% of homes in and around Quarrendon Estate were built in 2000 or later, and about 35% of households live in terraced houses, according to Census 2021 figures. Lower heat loss in recent homes often means a smaller heat pump and fewer radiator changes. In a terrace, the outdoor unit position and the MCS noise check need particular care.

Honest limits

Not every problem is solved by air source heat pumps, and we’d rather say so up front. It does not solve:

  • Tax rulings, which only HMRC can give
  • Insulation work, such as loft or cavity wall insulation
  • Grants for hybrid systems or replacements of low-carbon systems

If in doubt, phone us on 07833 053749 or fill in the contact form and we’ll say what we think.

What the work covers

  • Underfloor heating
  • Air-to-air heat pumps
  • Homes heated by oil, LPG or gas
  • Hot water cylinders
  • Air-to-water heat pumps
  • Radiator systems

How the visit works

Each visit runs to the same pattern: check the plan with you, put the dust sheets down, carry out the job, test what we have done and talk you through it. The visit itself takes from a couple of days to around a week, depending on the system and how much of the heating changes. Let us know how to reach the outside wall or outdoor unit at your property near Quarrendon Estate.

  1. We talk through your home, your current heating and what you want from a heat pump.
  2. A heat loss survey works out how much heat each room needs, and we look at the radiators, the cylinder space and where the outdoor unit could go.
  3. You get a fixed-price quote, with any grant you are eligible for and the VAT explained.
  4. The outdoor unit, the indoor equipment and the controls are installed and connected.
  5. Once it’s running correctly, the MCS certificate is issued and we show you the settings.

Preparing for the visit

  • Find the manual or the paperwork for the system, if you have it
  • Arrange for someone to be there to let us in
  • Give us access to the outside wall, roof or yard where the outdoor unit sits
