Honest limits

We won’t sell you work that doesn’t address the problem, so these are the things it will not cover:

  • A grant for a home that doesn’t meet the scheme rules
  • Insulation work, such as loft or cavity wall insulation
  • Tax advice on your own circumstances

If in doubt, call us on 07833 053749 or use the quote form and we will say what we think before booking.

Air source heat pumps in Lee Chapel, done properly

We install air source heat pumps in Lee Chapel and across Essex, and we’re MCS certified. There are two kinds: air-to-water, which heats radiators or underfloor heating and your hot water, and air-to-air, which warms rooms through indoor units and can also cool. We help you work out which suits your home. If the problem is not knowing whether a grant applies and deciding on the outdoor unit position, we can sort it out.

Whether a home near Lee Chapel has mains gas makes a difference to the grant. Until March 2027, homes on oil or LPG without mains gas can get an extra £1,500 through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme.

AirCon Doctor is an F-Gas certified company and NICEIC approved for electrical work, MCS certified for heat pumps and a Checkatrade member. Refrigerant work is done by engineers who hold the F-gas qualifications the law requires.

Looking after your system

A little care keeps the system in better shape. Our advice:

  • Keep to regular servicing
  • Keep up with insulation and draught-proofing
  • File the MCS certificate safely

We show you how to use the controls and explain how a heat pump works differently from a boiler. Heat pumps tend to work best running steadily rather than in short bursts, and we’ll explain the settings for your home.

Keep the outdoor unit clear of leaves, plants and stored items. Airflow is what it runs on so keep it unobstructed.

How the visit works

Testing is the last part of the visit wherever the system can be switched on. Then we explain what was done and answer your questions, and anything that needs attention later is pointed out. The visit takes several days for an air-to-water system with a new cylinder, less for an air-to-air system. Getting to the outside of the property matters more than parking in a place like Lee Chapel.

  1. Step one is understanding the house, how it’s heated today and what you’d like to change.
  2. A heat loss survey works out how much heat each room needs, and we look at the radiators, the cylinder space and where the outdoor unit could go.
  3. We send a fixed-price quote that shows the equipment, the grant position and the VAT.
  4. Installation covers the outdoor unit, the indoor connections and the controls.
  5. The system is commissioned and registered under MCS, and we show you how to use it.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Make sure we can reach the consumer unit or fuse board
  • Mention any roof access, ladders or high-level work
  • Have the make and model of any existing unit to hand

Related advice

What the work involves, system by system

Air-to-water heat pumps

Flow temperatures are lower than with a typical boiler, so radiator sizes matter.

Air-to-air heat pumps

The £2,500 grant for air-to-air applies only when the system replaces the fossil-fuel heating and covers the whole home’s demand. It also has to be fitted by an MCS certified installer, in a home.

Lee Chapel questions

Do you cover Lee Chapel for air source heat pumps?

Yes. We work across London and the South East from our base in East Grinstead, and Lee Chapel is part of that. Tell us a little about the job and we’ll take it from there.

Does the Boiler Upgrade Scheme cover homes in Lee Chapel?

Yes, if the home and the heat pump meet the scheme’s rules: Lee Chapel is in England, where it applies. For an air-to-water heat pump the amount is £7,500; an air-to-air system can get £2,500 if it replaces the fossil-fuel heating outright, meets the home’s full heating demand and isn’t an add-on to a boiler. You don’t apply yourself: the MCS certified installer does, which is us.

Will I get records for the system?

Yes, always. New installations come with commissioning details, F-Gas records and warranty information, while repairs and services get a written note of what was found and done.

Will you make a mess?

Protection goes down first: dust sheets over floors and anything close to the work. Any drilling is agreed with you first, and we clear up the dust and offcuts before we leave.

Why use an F-Gas certified company?

The law says any company working on equipment containing F gas has to be certified, and the engineers need their own qualifications. It’s how you know the refrigerant is being handled legally and safely.

What’s the difference between air-to-water and air-to-air heat pumps?

Air-to-water suits homes with radiators and a cylinder; air-to-air suits rooms that need heating and cooling, and we help you choose. We install both types.

Can landlords and managing agents book you?

Yes. From a single let flat to offices, shops and public buildings, the approach is the same: a look first, a fixed-price quote and written records.

Air source heat pumps in Lee Chapel: the local picture

About 24 miles out from central London, Lee Chapel is part of the South East area we work across. Valuation Office Agency council tax records date about 66% of homes across Lee Chapel and its surrounding area to the post-war years, 1945 to 1972, and Census 2021 figures found about 48% of households in terraced houses. Whether the walls and loft have been insulated makes a real difference to the heat pump size for homes of that period. Terraced houses share walls with neighbours, which helps, but the outdoor unit position needs care with noise next door.

For a home near Basildon station, the survey looks at whether an air-to-water or air-to-air heat pump suits better. Live in one of the older houses around St Martin of Tours? Expect the survey to look closely at heat loss and at the building’s planning status.
