Air conditioning in SS15: how it works
Wall-mounted, multi-split, ducted and cassette systems are all part of what we install, with VRF for larger buildings. The right choice depends on the rooms, the building and how visible you want the indoor units to be, and we explain the options on the survey. The work covers multi-split systems, VRF systems and ceiling cassettes, and people most often call us about a business premises that overheats in summer and rooms under the roof that stay hot into the night.
If the system has to be off for part of the visit, we tell you before any work starts, so you can plan around it. For businesses, we can usually work room by room or zone by zone. The work takes anything from a day for one room to several days for a multi-room or ducted system.
- We survey the property, or work from your pictures for a simple job.
- The system is sized, positions are agreed and the price is fixed.
- We protect the area, then fit both halves of the system.
- We run and connect the pipes, cable and drain, then pressure test and evacuate the circuit.
- We commission, show you the controls and leave the F-Gas and warranty paperwork.
What you’ll pay
The pipe route, the height of the units and how we reach them all affect the cost. Each of those is built into the quote and give you a fixed price before any work starts.

Around Laindon
In Laindon, that means homes and buildings near Gloucester Park, Merrylands Primary School and The James Hornsby School and the streets around them. For rail, the closest station is Laindon station, about 0.5 miles south-east. A little further out are Basildon University Hospital (1.8 miles south-east) and Eastgate Shopping Centre (1.8 miles east). For a walk, there’s Langdon Nature Reserve.
Air conditioning across SS15
From Basildon, Laindon and Great Berry outwards, SS15 has every kind of home. Each install starts with a survey of the rooms, the walls and where the outdoor unit can go, then a fixed-price quote.
London and the South East cover everything from city flats to rural cottages. Our work is F-Gas certified, NICEIC approved for the electrics and MCS certified for heat pumps.
Laindon: Homes near Church of St Nicholas are a good example of where we look up the heritage status of the building before fixing anything to it. If you work from home near Laindon station, a home office that overheats is one of the easiest rooms to cool.
What happens if it’s left?
Planning ahead beats a rushed decision in a heatwave. A rushed choice is often the wrong size or in the wrong place, which is costly to undo. Booking the survey early gives you time to weigh up the options.
What your quote should include
- Whether extra work needs your approval first
- What paperwork you will receive afterwards
- Whether the manufacturer’s warranty depends on regular servicing
- Which brand and model they’re proposing, and why
Honest limits
In fairness, some problems need a different answer:
- Damp or condensation caused by leaks or poor ventilation in the building (that needs the cause fixing)
- Gas boiler or central heating faults (we do not work on gas boilers)
- A room that cannot take an outdoor unit or pipe route without the landlord’s, management company’s or council’s consent (that consent comes first)
Let and managed properties
Facilities teams in offices, schools and public buildings book us too in SS15 and across Essex. Work can be phased by floor, zone or building to keep disruption down.
Bigger systems bring extra duties: a TM44 inspection by an accredited energy assessor is required at least every 5 years for systems over 12 kW. We can arrange it, prepare the system for it and fix what it finds.
Aftercare tips
Looking after it is simple, and it makes the next visit easier:
- Book an annual service
- Report drips, noises or error codes straight away
- Keep the room closed while it runs
- Wash or vacuum the filters as the manual describes
The filters are the one part you will look after yourself, so we show you how. Clean them every few weeks when the system is in heavy use, following the manual, and keep the outdoor unit clear of leaves and clutter.
Clean the filters regularly, not just at the service. Clean filters keep the air moving and help the system work as designed, which costs you more to run.
Your questions about air conditioning in SS15
Will I get records for the system?
Yes. It’s your proof of what was done: a dated note of the work, with refrigerant details where they apply.
What warranty do I get?
Warranty comes from the manufacturer and depends on the brand and product. For example, Daikin’s standard warranty on split air conditioning is 2 years, and we explain the terms for whichever brand you choose.
Can you set up regular servicing?
Yes. Tell us what you have and how it’s used, and we’ll suggest a schedule with a fixed price. That can include the leak checks the F-gas rules require for larger systems.
How much is air conditioning for one room?
It depends on the rooms, the system and the pipe route, but a single-room split is typically £1,200–£2,200 + VAT. Long pipe runs, difficult access, a new circuit and premium indoor units push the price up, and commercial systems are priced after a survey.
Can I do the refrigerant work myself?
The refrigerant side has to be done by a qualified engineer working for an F-Gas certified company. That is the law, not just our preference, and it also matters for the manufacturer’s warranty. We are happy to quote for the full job, supply to commissioning.
Is air conditioning possible in a flat?
In many cases, but permissions come first. You will usually need the landlord’s or management company’s consent for the outdoor unit and the pipe route and the lease will say. Planning rules for flats are tighter too, and we flag anything that may need permission. This is general information, not legal advice.
Will you work on another installer’s system?
Yes. We look at it first and tell you what we find, including any issues with how it was fitted. You get a fixed price before any work goes ahead.
