Air source heat pumps in Hailey, done properly

We begin with a room-by-room heat loss survey. That tells us how much heat the home needs, room by room, so the heat pump and the radiators or indoor units can be sized properly. Guesswork leads to systems that are too big or too small. If the problem is an oil, LPG or gas boiler near the end of its life and replacing a combi boiler with a heat pump, we can help.

Space for an outdoor unit is rarely an issue near Hailey, so the design focuses on heat loss and radiators.

Each manufacturer sets its own warranty period. Daikin, for example, gives a standard 2 years on split air conditioning, with longer extensions only on its air-to-water heat pumps. For any other brand, we explain the manufacturer’s terms on your quote.

Hailey questions

Is the heat pump grant available in Hailey?

Hailey is covered, as the scheme runs across England and Wales. The amount depends on the type of heat pump, and the survey confirms which applies. We hold MCS certification, so the application is ours to make for you.

Is Hailey within the area you cover?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Send a few details and pictures, and we reply the same working day.

Which brands do you work with?

Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Hitachi and others. For a new system, we suggest the make and model that suit the property and explain why.

What does an air-to-water heat pump cost?

Air-to-water systems are £8,000–£16,000 (0% VAT on homes), before any grant. The final price depends on the heat loss survey, the radiators and the cylinder, and you get a fixed-price quote.

Why use an F-Gas certified company?

Certification shows a business is approved to work on systems that hold F gas refrigerant. That is not optional: it’s required by law, and we hold it.

Do you offer emergency call-outs?

Yes. There’s a 24/7 emergency line for breakdowns that cannot wait. Call 07833 053749 and tell us what’s happened.

Do I need planning permission for a heat pump?

That depends on your home and the unit’s position. Flats have different limits, conservation areas have extra conditions, and an Article 4 direction can remove the rights and we look at it during the survey.

What a heat pump looks like in Hailey

The centre of Hailey lies within the Hailey Conservation Area. The Old Manor House, listed at grade II*, is one of roughly 17 protected buildings and structures in the half-mile around Hailey’s centre. That affects heat pumps: listed buildings need consent, and conservation areas limit where the outdoor unit can go under permitted development. Where needed, we check with West Oxfordshire council, normally the planning authority here. The 2021 Census found about 81% of households in detached or semi-detached houses. Houses normally have space for an outdoor unit and a hot water cylinder.

Minster Lovell Hall, roughly 1.9 miles south-west, is a reminder to check your home’s listing status: permitted development doesn’t cover listed buildings.

Hailey is about 2 miles north of Witney, in Oxfordshire. Properties in Hailey get the same service as everywhere we cover: a look at the job first, a fixed-price quote and written records at the end. In Oxfordshire alone we list 443 places and Hailey is among them. For properties nearby, see our Guildford page, about 56 miles away.

Our working area takes in OX29 in full. Streets in the area include Fishers Close, Hicks Close and Giernalls Road, and we cover them all. What air conditioning will not do

Not every problem is solved by air source heat pumps, and we’d rather say so up front. It doesn’t solve:

  • A grant for a home that doesn’t meet the scheme rules
  • Improving the building’s insulation
  • Formal advice on VAT for your situation

If you are not sure, just ring 07833 053749, or email if that’s easier and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

How the visit works

The visit has three parts, a bit like a doctor’s appointment: diagnose, treat and sign off. First comes a careful look at the system or the space, then the work itself, and finally we test, record and explain. Most of the time goes on the middle part, which takes a few days on site, depending on the cylinder, the radiators and the pipework involved. If a lane or gateway near Hailey is tight for a van, let us know and we’ll plan for it.

  1. You tell us about the home and what you want from a heat pump.
  2. We survey for heat loss and look at radiators, cylinder space and outdoor unit options.
  3. You get our view on the right type for the house, and on whether the Boiler Upgrade Scheme applies.
  4. The system is installed and connected to the controls.
  5. The job ends with commissioning, the MCS certificate and a walk through the controls.

Preparing for the visit

  • Name a contact who can meet us at the agreed time
  • Move furniture away from the wall where we’ll be working
  • Mention any managing agent or landlord rules we need to follow

Aftercare tips

How well a system lasts depends on use and care. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Leave indoor units unobstructed
  • Check eligibility for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme early
  • Look at insulation alongside the heat pump

Where we applied for a Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant, we keep you informed through the process, as the installer applies for it.

Let the heat pump run steadily rather than switching it on and off as explained at handover.

When to call us in Hailey

The Boiler Upgrade Scheme has made people ask whether their home could qualify. Whether you can get the grant depends on your home and the scheme conditions, so we check before you commit.

What we are most often called about:

  • An oil, LPG or gas boiler near the end of its life
  • Choosing between air-to-water and air-to-air
  • Working out whether radiators need upsizing

Period properties close to Church of St John the Evangelist can suit a heat pump, though insulation and any heritage protection are checked first.

Before booking anyone

  • Which brand and model they’re proposing, and why
  • How VAT is shown, and which rate applies
  • Whether the manufacturer’s warranty depends on regular servicing
