FAQs for Eastrop

Will you come out to Eastrop?

Yes. Eastrop is within the area we cover across London and the South East. We’re based in East Grinstead and plan each visit so the job can be finished in one trip where possible.

Will a heat pump in Eastrop need planning permission?

There’s no single answer: the building and the outdoor unit position decide it. The Basingstoke Town Conservation Area takes in the middle of Eastrop. The permitted development rules for heat pumps leave out listed buildings and stop outdoor units going on road-facing walls or roofs in conservation areas. Anything outside the rules needs an application, and we raise it with the planning department at Basingstoke and Deane council, usually the authority for Eastrop first.

How long will it take to install a heat pump?

Expect it to take from a couple of days to around a week, depending on the system and how much of the heating changes. The cylinder, the radiators and the pipework make the biggest difference, and we confirm the timing with your quote.

Do you offer maintenance contracts?

Yes. Tell us what you have and how it’s used and we will propose a schedule and quote for it. That can include the leak checks the F-gas rules require for larger systems.

Do you work on all makes?

Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Hitachi and others. For new systems, we recommend a brand and model to suit the job and tell you why.

How much does an air source heat pump cost?

Air-to-water systems are £8,000–£16,000 (0% VAT on homes), before any grant. The final price depends on the heat loss survey, the radiators and the cylinder and the quote is fixed.

Can I get a grant for an air-to-air heat pump?

The air-to-air grant is £2,500, and only some homes qualify. It must replace fossil-fuel heating and meet the full heating demand of a home with an MCS certified installer.

About our air source heat pumps in Eastrop

Many air source heat pumps can be installed as permitted development in England, without a planning application. Conditions include a maximum outdoor unit size of 1.5 m³, compliance with MCS 020(a), use for more than cooling alone and a site outside the curtilage of a listed building. We check the rules for your property as part of the survey. If the problem is working out where a cylinder could go and checking whether planning permission is needed, we can sort it out.

Whether a home near Eastrop has mains gas makes a difference to the grant. Homes heated by oil or LPG with no mains gas can get an extra £1,500 on the Boiler Upgrade Scheme until March 2027.

Refrigerant work is written up in the F-Gas records: what was done, the refrigerant type and any amount added or recovered. File them with the system’s paperwork, as a manufacturer or a future engineer may ask to see them.

The process

There’s very little for you to do on the day. Someone needs to let us in and show us the units, or where they’re going, and the rest is down to us. At the end, we tidy up and run through the work with you. Tell us about any gates or steps at your property near Eastrop when you book.

  1. We start with your plans and the property.
  2. The survey checks heat loss, emitters, hot water and the outdoor unit position.
  3. We recommend air-to-water or air-to-air and check the grant position.
  4. We install the heat pump and connect it up.
  5. After commissioning, you get the MCS certificate and a handover.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Make sure we can reach the outdoor unit, or where it will go
  • Let us know where the consumer unit is
  • Mention any roof access, ladders or high-level work

Managing agents and facilities teams in Eastrop

From a single flat to a whole estate, the approach is the same: a look at the job first, a fixed-price quote, work booked with the occupier and written records afterwards.

We regularly work with managing agents. Tell us the property, the work and the access arrangements and we will come back with a fixed-price quote.

What owners can safely do

Before you call us about a fault, a few checks can save a visit: check the mode, the set temperature, the remote’s batteries and the breaker. If the breaker trips a second time, leave it off and phone 07833 053749 or use the quote form.

Don’t move, re-route or disconnect units or pipework yourself. Disconnecting a system means dealing with refrigerant, which only a qualified engineer can do, and the electrical side needs a competent person. If you need something moved, we can quote for it.
