How we handle air source heat pumps in Churt

A heat pump takes heat from the outside air and moves it into your home, using electricity to drive the process. The technology is close to air conditioning, which is why we install both and the Energy Saving Trust notes that air-to-air heat pumps are sometimes referred to as air conditioning. The work covers air-to-water heat pumps, underfloor heating and air-to-air heat pumps, and people most often call us about questions about where the outdoor unit can go and checking emitters for a heat pump.

Older and listed homes in villages like Churt need extra care, and permitted development doesn’t cover listed buildings, so consent comes first.

For a fault on a system that may still be under warranty, send us the make, model and installation date. We will tell you how the manufacturer’s warranty is likely to apply before any chargeable work goes ahead.

The process

Testing is the last part of the visit wherever the system can be switched on. Then we show you what we have done and answer any questions, and anything that needs a follow-up is pointed out there and then. The visit takes a few days on site, depending on the cylinder, the radiators and the pipework involved. Pictures of the space and where the outdoor unit could go let us plan the work in Churt.

  1. It begins with your house and the heating it relies on now.
  2. Every room’s heat loss is worked out on site.
  3. From those figures we size the heat pump and decide on radiators, cylinder and outdoor position.
  4. You get a fixed price, with any grant and the VAT set out.
  5. Installation, commissioning and MCS registration complete the job.

Before we arrive

Advice

Your questions about air source heat pumps in Churt

Will a heat pump in Churt need planning permission?

There’s no single answer: the building and the outdoor unit position decide it. The half-mile around the middle of Churt holds about 6 listed buildings and structures. The permitted development rules for heat pumps leave out listed buildings and stop outdoor units going on road-facing walls or roofs in conservation areas. Anything outside the rules needs an application, and we raise it with East Hampshire council, which is usually the planning authority for Churt first.

Does the Boiler Upgrade Scheme cover homes in Churt?

Yes, if the home and the heat pump meet the scheme’s rules: Churt is in England, where it applies. It gives £7,500 towards an air-to-water or ground source heat pump, or £2,500 towards an air-to-air heat pump that replaces the fossil-fuel heating and meets the whole home’s heating need. As an MCS certified installer, we apply for it on your behalf.

Are you F-Gas certified?

As the law requires for refrigerant work, we’re an F-Gas certified company. NICEIC approval, MCS certification for heat pumps and Checkatrade membership sit alongside it.

What does an air-to-water heat pump cost?

Expect £8,000–£16,000 for an air-to-water system, with 0% VAT on homes, before the grant is taken off. The heat pump size, radiator changes and the cylinder decide where in that range you are. Air-to-air is priced after a survey.

Do you work on all makes?

The main ones, including Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi. For new systems, we recommend a brand and model to suit the job and explain why.

How soon will you get back to me?

You’ll hear from us the same working day. If it’s an emergency, ring the 24/7 line instead.

Do you cover Churt?

Yes. Our area takes in London and the counties of the South East, Churt included.

Pricing air source heat pumps in Churt

Every job gets its own quote. This is what makes a difference:

  • A single visit or a regular plan
  • What electrical work the job needs
  • The type of system, from a single split to a larger system

Several rooms, units or sites on one quote often makes better use of the time. Tell us about everything you’d like looked at and we’ll price it together.

Before you get in touch

Simple jobs can often be priced from photos and some basics. Useful things to send:

  • The fuse board and where it is in the property
  • A few photos of the room and the wall the unit is on, or will go on
  • The make and model of the system, from the label

Getting a quote is straightforward. Send a few details and pictures, and we reply the same working day. Where a survey is needed, we arrange a time that suits you.

When something else is needed

Air source heat pumps cannot fix everything, and we’d rather say so up front. It doesn’t solve:

  • Getting planning permission or listed building consent on your behalf
  • Promising eligibility for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme
  • Formal advice on VAT for your situation

If in doubt, give us a ring on 07833 053749 or fill in the contact form and we will say what we think.

Parts of the system we cover

  • Radiator systems
  • Air-to-water heat pumps
  • Air-to-air heat pumps
  • Hot water cylinders
  • Underfloor heating
  • Homes heated by oil, LPG or gas

What happens if it’s left?

From 1 April 2027, VAT on heat pumps in homes rises from 0% to 5%. It’s a date to bear in mind when planning alongside your own plans for the property. A dirty or faulty system works harder and costs more to run.

Every job is different, so we price each one individually. The equipment, how we reach it, the route between units and the work needed all play a part.

Why book with us

  • One number for homes and businesses across London and the South East
  • A reply the same working day
  • Every job looked at before it’s priced
  • Emergency calls taken 24/7
