About our air source heat pumps in Bowling Alley
Air-to-water heat pumps heat your hot water through a cylinder. Homes with a combi boiler may not have a cylinder, so finding space for one is part of the survey. With air-to-air, hot water has to come from something else. If the problem is checking whether planning permission is needed and choosing between air-to-water and air-to-air, we can help.
Older and listed homes in villages like Bowling Alley need extra care, and permitted development does not cover listed buildings, so consent comes first.
We are an F-Gas certified company, NICEIC approved for electrical work, with MCS certification for heat pumps and Checkatrade membership. Refrigerant work is done by engineers who hold the F-gas qualifications the law requires.

Managing agents and facilities teams in Bowling Alley
The F-gas rules share responsibility for leak checking between the equipment’s operator and the service technicians. In a let or managed building, it’s worth agreeing who that operator is, and we can work for either side.
Managing agents often deal with us directly. Tell us the property, the work and the access arrangements, and we will send a fixed-price quote.

Air source heat pumps in Bowling Alley: the local picture
The Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures show about 37% of homes across Bowling Alley and its surrounding area were built in 2000 or later, and about 64% of households live in detached or semi-detached houses, according to the last census (2021). Lower heat loss in recent homes often means a smaller heat pump and fewer radiator changes. Houses usually have space for an outdoor unit and a hot water cylinder.
Historic houses such as Farnham Castle, about 3.1 miles south-east, are a reminder that listed homes need consent before a heat pump goes in. If your home is one of the older properties near Church of All Saints, the survey checks whether it’s listed or in a conservation area before the outdoor unit position is chosen.

Bowling Alley: your questions answered
Does the Boiler Upgrade Scheme cover homes in Bowling Alley?
Bowling Alley is covered, as the scheme runs across England and Wales. It gives £7,500 towards an air-to-water or ground source heat pump, or £2,500 towards an air-to-air heat pump that replaces the fossil-fuel heating and meets the whole home’s heating need. You don’t apply yourself: the MCS certified installer does, which is us.
Will a heat pump in Bowling Alley need planning permission?
There’s no single answer: the building and the outdoor unit position decide it. The centre of Bowling Alley is in a conservation area. On a house, an air source heat pump can often go ahead under permitted development, with an outdoor unit of no more than 1.5 cubic metres and an installation that meets MCS 020(a), which includes a noise check. Those rights do not reach the grounds of a listed building, and conservation areas rule out walls or roofs facing a road. If that might affect you, we ask the planning department at Hart council, usually the authority for Bowling Alley.
Do you work on all makes?
The main ones, including Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi. For a new system, we suggest the make and model that suit the property and explain why.
How quickly will you reply?
We reply to enquiries the same working day. If it’s an emergency, ring the 24/7 line instead.
Do you work in Bowling Alley?
Yes. We cover Bowling Alley and the rest of Surrey, as part of our area across London and the South East. To book, ring 07833 053749 or email us.
Do you work on commercial properties?
Yes. From a single let flat to offices, shops and public buildings, the approach is the same: a look first, a fixed-price quote and written records.
Who is responsible for leak checks?
The F-gas rules share it between the equipment’s operator and the engineers who work on it. The interval depends on the refrigerant charge, measured in tonnes of CO2 equivalent: at least every 12 months from 5 tCO2e, and every 6 months from 50 tCO2e.
What owners can safely do
Refrigerant is off limits for anyone without the right qualifications. Under the F-gas rules, engineers need their own qualifications and the company must be certified, and escaping refrigerant can cause cold burns. A suspected leak is our job, not yours.
Write down what you notice: error codes, noises, drips, smells or a drop in performance. It makes our diagnosis quicker, and a photo or a short video of the display is even better.
