What the work involves, system by system
Multi-split systems
You can mix indoor unit types on many multi-split systems, choosing what suits each room, as the manufacturer allows. We plan the mix on the survey.
Pipework and condensate drains
We pressure test and evacuate the pipework before the system is charged, so the system starts life clean, dry and leak-tight. It’s recorded in the commissioning details.
Air conditioning installation in Seven Kings
A new system normally needs a dedicated circuit from the fuse board. Under Part P, a new circuit is notifiable unless a registered competent person does it, and as NICEIC approved contractors we can install and certify it as part of the job. Most split systems we fit in Seven Kings are reversible: in heating mode they work as an air-to-air heat pump, so a system bought for summer earns its keep in winter too.
Most single-room installs in Seven Kings are done in a day, with multi-room systems taking longer depending on pipe routes.
Space outside is often tight in Seven Kings, as in much of London, which means a rear wall bracket, a flat roof or a balcony is often the best spot for the outdoor unit. Neighbours’ windows and noise matter as much as appearance when we choose the position, and the pipe run is planned to be short, neat and out of the way.
Think of the paperwork as the system’s health record: what was fitted or found, what was done and when. If anything goes wrong later, it helps the next engineer and the manufacturer and it’s worth keeping safe.

The process
There’s very little for you to do on the day. Just let us in and point us to the units, or to where they’ll be fitted, and the rest is down to us. At the end, we tidy up and run through the work with you. The more we can see beforehand, the smoother the visit to Seven Kings will be.
- First comes a site survey, or photos and measurements for a straightforward job.
- We size the system for each room, then send a fixed-price quote with the units and where they go.
- The indoor unit is fixed in place, the outside unit positioned, and the connecting runs put in tidily.
- We connect the supply, pressure test the pipework and evacuate it before the refrigerant is released.
- Last comes the run-up: every mode checked, the controls explained and the paperwork left with you.
How to prepare
- Let us know where the consumer unit is
- Tell us about access, such as roof hatches, high walls or locked plant areas
- Keep pets and children away from the work area

Seven Kings questions
Do I need planning permission for air conditioning in Seven Kings?
It comes down to the building and the spot chosen for the outdoor unit. Historic England lists about 3 buildings and structures within half a mile of the centre of Seven Kings. A system that heats as well as cools may not need an application on a house, provided it stays within the permitted development limits. Cooling-only units get no such allowance, and listed buildings and road-facing positions in conservation areas need more care. We speak to the local planning authority (for Seven Kings, normally Redbridge council) when it matters.
Can you fit air conditioning in a London flat in Seven Kings?
In many cases, yes, once the lease and the building’s rules are checked. Permitted development rules for flats are tighter than for houses, so we check the outdoor unit position and give you the details to send to the freeholder or managing agent.
How do you keep the place clean during the work?
Protection goes down first: sheets over the floor and nearby furniture. Any drilling is agreed with you first, and we clear up the dust and offcuts when we finish.
Can I fit air conditioning or a heat pump myself?
Not the refrigerant work. Under the F-gas rules, it must be done by qualified engineers from a certified company, and a new electrical circuit is notifiable building work unless a registered competent person does it.
Which type of air conditioning is best?
There’s no single best type. A split suits one room, a multi-split several, a ducted system hides the unit, and a cassette spreads air across larger rooms. The survey ends with a recommendation and the reasons.
How soon will you get back to me?
You’ll hear from us the same working day. For a breakdown that cannot wait, call our 24/7 emergency line.
How long will the installation take?
A single-room system is usually fitted in a day. Multi-split, ducted and cassette systems take longer, and we tell you how long on the quote.

What an install looks like in Seven Kings
About 45% of homes in and around Seven Kings were built before 1919, according to VOA council tax data, and the last census (2021) found about 41% of households in terraced houses. Older properties often mean solid walls and period details, so pipe runs are planned to stay neat and out of sight. Terraces have little side access, so the outdoor unit normally goes on the rear wall or a flat roof, with the pipe run kept short. For a London home, we plan the outdoor unit position, the pipe route and any approvals before the day.
Plenty of people near Seven Kings station split the week between the train and a spare room, and that spare room is often the first to get a unit.

When to call us in Seven Kings
Portable units are often where people start, and why they call us. Portables push their warm air out through a hose in the window, so the window can’t close properly and the noisy part of the unit is in the room. With a split system, the compressor lives outside.
Look out for these signs:
- A loft conversion that’s too warm to use
- A business premises that overheats in summer
- A study or office that overheats during the day
Valentines Mansion (roughly 1.4 miles west) shows the area has its share of heritage. A listed home needs consent before an outdoor unit or pipework goes on.
