What an install looks like in Brookside

The 2021 Census found about 63% of households in detached or semi-detached houses. A side passage or back wall normally gives the outdoor unit a home, and more than one bedroom can be cooled through a multi-split.

About 3.2 miles north-east stands St Leonard's Hill. Listed homes in any area need consent first, so tell us if yours is one. Around Chapel of St Mary and St John, a quick check of the listing and conservation maps is part of planning any install.

Air conditioning for homes and businesses in Brookside

Wall-mounted, multi-split, ducted and cassette systems are all part of what we install, plus VRF systems for bigger commercial buildings. Which one suits you depends on the space, the building and how much of the unit you want to see and we talk you through it on the survey. Air con, air conditioning, a split system: whatever you call it, in Brookside it means the same thing to us: the right unit in the right place, fitted and commissioned properly.

The outdoor unit position is the biggest single decision: we balance airflow, noise, the pipe run and access for future servicing.

In a village like Brookside, many homes are older, and some are listed. We check that first, because permitted development does not apply within the grounds of a listed building, and the outdoor unit position is chosen to suit the building.

Some manufacturers make regular servicing by a qualified engineer a condition of their warranty. Where yours does, a regular service with us keeps that side in order, and every service is written up.

What affects the quote in Brookside

Jobs vary more than people expect. What affects the quote:

  • The distance and route between the indoor and outdoor units
  • The number of rooms, units or zones
  • The electrical supply and whether a new circuit is needed

Homes, offices, shops and public buildings are all priced the same way: the equipment, the access, the work involved and the time it takes. Call for a fixed-price quote and we will go through it with you.

Asking for a quote

A few details help us quote accurately. With your enquiry, please include:

  • The fuse board and where it is in the property
  • The remote or wall controller showing any error
  • The postcode and whether it’s a home, flat or business

To get a fixed-price quote, call us on 07833 053749 or send an email with the address and a few details about the rooms or units involved. Photos help a lot. We reply to enquiries the same working day.

How the visit works

Protection comes first: dust sheets over floors and furniture near the work and nothing is moved without asking you. After that, anything electrical is made safe and we start. The work on site takes anything from a day for one room to several days for a multi-room or ducted system, and we tidy up before we leave. A note on how to find the property and where to park makes a visit to Brookside easier.

  1. We survey the rooms and the outside of the property, or work from pictures and details for simple jobs.
  2. You receive one fixed figure covering the kit, the fitting and the positions we agreed.
  3. On the day, we fit the indoor and outdoor units and run the pipework, cable and condensate drain.
  4. The electrical supply is connected, and the refrigerant circuit is pressure tested and evacuated.
  5. Finally, it’s commissioned, tested in each mode and handed over with the F-Gas records.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Mention any managing agent or landlord rules we need to follow
  • Mention any roof access, ladders or high-level work
  • Let us know where the consumer unit is

How to get a quote

Photos are the fastest route to a quote: the inside and outside of the property where the work is, plus the rating plate of any unit already there. Add the address and what you’d like done, and simple jobs can often be priced without a visit.

Advice

Questions from Brookside

Will you come out to Brookside?

Yes. Brookside is within the area we cover across London and the South East. Visits to smaller places are planned so the engineer arrives with what the job needs.

Will air conditioning in Brookside need planning permission?

That depends on the building and where the outdoor unit goes. The half-mile around the middle of Brookside holds about 4 listed buildings and structures. A system that heats as well as cools may not need an application on a house, provided it stays within the permitted development limits. Cooling-only units get no such allowance, and listed buildings and road-facing positions in conservation areas need more care. We speak to the local planning authority (for Brookside, usually Bracknell Forest council) when it matters.

Do you offer maintenance contracts?

Yes. Maintenance contracts are part of what we do, set at the interval the system and the manufacturer’s terms need. Each visit is written up and F-Gas records kept where they apply.

Which manufacturers do you install and repair?

We install and work on the leading makes, including Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi. Send us the make and model if you have it.

How do I know what size unit to get?

We size each room on the survey, from its size, glazing, orientation and use. Too small, and it runs flat out; too big, and it switches on and off and wastes energy and we explain the output we recommend.

Will you make a mess?

We put dust sheets over floors and furniture near the work first, and we tidy up as we go. Before we leave, we clear up and run through the work with you.

Which type of air conditioning is best?

There’s no single best type. A split suits one room, a multi-split several, a ducted system hides the unit, and a cassette spreads air across larger rooms. We recommend one on the survey and explain why.

Different systems, different jobs

Offices, shops and commercial rooms

Offices and shops typically need several units and sensible central controls. We size for the people, equipment and glazing in the space, and plan the work so the business keeps running.

Ceiling cassettes

For wide rooms, a cassette spreads the air more evenly than one wall unit with just a grille visible in the ceiling.

When something else is needed

We’d rather tell you now than sell you work that won’t help, so these are the things it won’t cover:

  • Gas boiler or central heating faults (we don’t work on gas boilers)
  • A ventilation problem rather than a temperature problem
  • Damp from leaks or a lack of ventilation

Not sure which it is? You can phone us on 07833 053749 or send an email and we’ll tell you honestly.

Where we work

  • Air-to-air heat pumps
  • Multi-split systems
  • Ceiling cassettes
  • VRF systems
  • Wall-mounted split systems
  • Ducted systems

A customer’s words

“Office air con broke down in the July heatwave. Called at 8am, engineer was here by noon and fixed within 2 hours. Brilliant emergency response. They now hold the service contract for the whole building.”
