Air conditioning servicing for Telscombe

What happens if it’s left?

If your system needs F-gas leak checks, they aren’t optional. Missing one leaves you without the check and the record and it’s far easier to stay on schedule. A dirty or faulty system works harder and costs more to run.

Putting several jobs into one visit often makes better use of the time. Mention every unit or room you need covered, and you’ll get one fixed price.

Air conditioning servicing in Telscombe

A manufacturer’s warranty can come with conditions, and regular servicing may be one of them. The terms differ from brand to brand, so it’s worth reading yours and we are happy to go through them with you. Our service record shows the work was done. If the problem is systems that haven’t been serviced for a while and a system that struggles to cool on warm days, we can sort it out.

In a place like Telscombe, the outdoor unit often sits near a garden, hedge or trees, so the outdoor coil can clog with leaves and seeds. Every service includes cleaning it.

Think of the paperwork as the system’s health record: what was fitted or found, what was done and when. If anything goes wrong later, it helps the next engineer and the manufacturer and it’s worth keeping safe.

The process

The visit has three parts, a bit like a doctor’s appointment: diagnose, treat and sign off. First we check the system or the space against the plan, then we do the work, and finally we test, record and explain. Most of the time goes on the middle part, which takes an hour or so for a single wall-mounted unit, longer for a multi-split system. Everything the job in Telscombe needs is worked out beforehand.

  1. It begins with a few questions about the make, the rooms served and any symptoms.
  2. Each indoor unit has its covers lifted so the filters, coil and tray can be cleaned.
  3. Outside, the coil is cleaned, the fan checked and the area cleared.
  4. Readings are taken on the electrics and refrigerant circuit, and the controls are tried in each mode.
  5. We explain what we found and price any repair before it’s done.

What affects the quote in Telscombe

Your quote is based on your property. We consider:

  • Whether it’s a one-off job or part of a maintenance contract
  • The condition of any existing system
  • Access, including height, roofs and ladders

Our prices page shows typical ranges, but each job is priced on what it involves. Call for a fixed-price quote, and we’ll explain what it covers.

Asking for a quote

When you contact us, it’s useful to have:

  • A few photos of the room and the wall the unit is on, or will go on
  • The outdoor side of the property, including any roof or flat area
  • Any error code or flashing light on the display

The quickest way to a quote is to send photos: the room or the existing unit, the outside wall or roof where the outdoor unit sits or would go, and the label on any existing unit. Add the address and what you’d like done, and many jobs can be priced from that.

What air conditioning servicing can’t fix

In fairness, some problems need a different answer:

  • Poor original installation, such as drains without a proper fall
  • A system short of gas because of a leak
  • Rooms that gain heat faster than any unit could cope with

If in doubt, ring 07833 053749 or email us and we’ll say what we think.

Where we work

  • Air-to-air heat pumps
  • VRF systems
  • Ducted systems
  • Ceiling cassettes
  • Wall-mounted split systems

FAQs for Telscombe

Is Telscombe within the area you cover?

Yes, and the size of the place makes no difference to how we work. Visits to smaller places are planned so the engineer arrives with what the job needs.

Does sea air affect air conditioning in Telscombe?

It can. Telscombe is within about 1 mile of the coast, and salt air speeds up corrosion on outdoor units. A yearly service that rinses and checks the outdoor coil matters more near the sea.

What does an air con service involve?

We clean the filters and coils, clear the condensate drain and check the fans. We also check the electrical connections, the controls and the refrigerant performance, with an F-gas leak check where the system requires one.

Can you set up regular servicing?

Yes. Maintenance contracts are part of what we do, set at the interval the system and the manufacturer’s terms need. Each visit is written up, with F-Gas records where refrigerant work is involved.

What does an annual air con service cost?

From £95 to £150 + VAT for the annual service with the figure confirmed before the visit. If the service finds a fault, we price the repair separately and only go ahead if you agree.

How regularly should I have my air conditioning serviced?

At least once a year is a sensible routine for most systems. Systems that work hard, such as those used for heating or in busy workplaces, may benefit from more frequent visits and it’s worth checking what your manufacturer recommends.

Who has to arrange F-Gas leak checks?

The operator of the equipment, working with qualified engineers. Systems below 5 tCO2e fall outside the set leak check intervals, while larger ones need checks at least every 12 months, or every 6 months from 50 tCO2e. We can tell you which band your system falls into.

What a service looks like in Telscombe

Telscombe is within about 1 mile of the coast. Coastal outdoor units are worth checking for corrosion at every service. About 42% of homes in the Telscombe area date from 1945 to 1972, according to Valuation Office Agency council tax records, and the last census (2021) found about 73% of households in detached or semi-detached houses. A photo of the outdoor unit and its surroundings tells us what access the visit needs.

If you look after a school such as Telscombe Cliffs Community Primary School, servicing is easiest in the holidays. If you cannot remember the last service, it’s probably due.
