How we handle air conditioning servicing in Soake
People in Soake book a service for all sorts of reasons: smells at start-up, a unit that struggles on hot days, drips from the indoor unit, or a service that’s overdue. Whatever the reason, the visit follows the same thorough checks. If you are dealing with systems that haven’t been serviced for a while and ice forming on the pipework or outdoor unit, we can help.
Most systems around Soake need servicing once a year, best done before summer.
Warranty on the equipment is the manufacturer’s own, on the manufacturer’s terms, and we set them out on your quote. Terms differ from brand to brand, so we go through them with you rather than leave you to find the small print.

How it works
If the system has to be off for part of the visit, we tell you before work begins, so you can plan around it. For businesses, we can normally work room by room or zone by zone. On site, it takes an hour or so for a single wall-mounted unit, longer for a multi-split system. Seeing the property in pictures first means the trip to Soake can be planned properly.
- First we take the details: brand, model if you have it, how many indoor units and anything that’s been bothering you.
- The engineer switches the system on and checks how it behaves before taking anything apart.
- Dust and grime come off the filters and coils, and the drain is flushed so water runs away properly.
- We check the electrics, the controls and how the refrigerant circuit is performing, and carry out a leak check where the rules call for it.
- We leave you a record of the service and explain anything we found.
How to prepare
- Move furniture away from the wall where we’ll be working
- Let us know where we can park and unload
- Let us know if the building has a permit or sign-in process
Getting a quote
Some jobs can be priced from pictures, while others need a survey. Multi-room systems, commercial buildings and anything with a long or hidden pipe route are normally surveyed first. Either way, you get a fixed price before any work is booked.
Advice
Your questions about air conditioning servicing in Soake
Do you cover smaller places like Soake?
We do. Villages and hamlets get the same service as the bigger towns. Visits to smaller places are planned so the engineer arrives with what the job needs.
How often do you service systems in Soake?
Usually once a year for homes, more often for busy business systems. Business systems may also need F-gas leak checks, at least every 12 months from 5 tonnes CO2 equivalent.
Do you work on all makes?
We install and work on the leading makes, including Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi. Tell us the make and model and we’ll take it from there.
Do you work on systems someone else installed?
Yes. We start with a proper look and tell you honestly what we find, including anything about the original installation that needs putting right. Any work is priced before it goes ahead.
Does my air conditioning need an F-gas leak check?
It depends on the system’s tonnes of CO2 equivalent (tCO2e). At 5 to under 50 tCO2e, it’s at least every 12 months; at 50 to under 500 tCO2e, every 6 months. Hermetically sealed systems holding less than 10 tCO2e do not need them.
What does F-Gas certified mean?
For refrigerant work, both the engineer and the company need the right F-gas credentials. Ask to see proof before you book anyone and we’ll gladly show you ours.
Can I do the refrigerant work myself?
The refrigerant side has to be done by a qualified engineer working for an F-Gas certified company. That’s the law, not just our preference, and it also matters for the manufacturer’s warranty. We are happy to quote for the full job, supply to commissioning.
Looking after it afterwards
Systems last better with the right care. We suggest:
- Make sure the condensate outlet can drain
- Call about new noises or smells rather than waiting
- Rinse the indoor unit filters every few weeks when the system is in heavy use
If you’d rather not keep track of service dates yourself, ask about a maintenance contract. We agree the visits and the cost up front so you don’t have to remember.
Keep the area around the outdoor unit clear. Plants, bins and stored items piled around it get in the way of the air it needs, so clear them back.
Keeping systems in Soake running
The 2021 Census found about 74% of households in detached or semi-detached houses. A photo of the outdoor unit and its surroundings tells us what access the visit needs. Soake is about 59 miles from central London, well within the area we cover from our base in East Grinstead.
If you look after a school such as Denmead Junior School, servicing is easiest in the holidays. Spring is a good time for a service, before the system is needed for cooling.
Soake is about 1 mile north-west of Waterlooville, in Hampshire. Soake gets the same approach as every job we take on: a look at the job first, a fixed-price quote and written records at the end. Count every place we list in Hampshire and you reach 683, with Soake on the list. Worthing, roughly 29 miles off, has its own page on this site.
Not far from Soake, a recent job of ours was on East Street, Chichester (PO19), about 12 miles east: installing a Daikin wall-mounted unit in the dining area and a second unit serving the kitchen pass area.
All of PO7 is within our area, from the main roads to the quietest streets. Soake Road and Hambledon Road and the roads off them are all inside our area. Close to Soake, our area also takes in Furzeley Corner (1 mile south-west), Hart Plain (1 mile east), Cowplain (1 mile east), Waterlooville (1 mile south-east) and Purbrook Heath (2 miles south). Larger places within reach include Gosport (8 miles south-west), Havant (4 miles south-east), Eastleigh (14 miles west) and Fareham (7 miles south-west).
Around Soake
Typical jobs here are in properties near The Mead End pub and The Cowplain School and the streets around them. The nearest railway station is Bedhampton station, about 3.7 miles south-east of the centre. Leave it or put it right?
Check your manufacturer’s warranty conditions before letting servicing lapse. If yours does, a gap in the service history could matter if a fault comes up later. We can go through the terms with you. A dirty or faulty system works harder and costs more to run.
One room or a whole building, the quote is built the same way: the work involved, the access and the equipment. The price is fixed before work begins, with VAT shown clearly.

Before you call an engineer
Never try to top up, release or handle refrigerant yourself. Under the F-gas rules, engineers need their own qualifications and the company must be certified, and refrigerant lines can cause cold burns. A suspected leak is our job, not yours.
Don’t move, re-route or disconnect units or pipework yourself. Disconnecting a system means dealing with refrigerant, which only a qualified engineer can do, and the electrical side needs a competent person. Ask us to quote for a move instead.
