Air conditioning servicing in Eastleigh

Some systems need F-gas leak checks by law, and some do not. GOV.UK sets the frequency by the system’s tonnes of CO2 equivalent (tCO2e): at least every 12 months from 5 to under 50 tCO2e, and every 6 months from 50 to under 500 tCO2e. We work out where your system sits and check it accordingly. Typical jobs include frost or ice on the refrigerant pipes and no service record for the last year or more, on ducted systems, wall-mounted split systems and VRF systems.

We clean the filters and coils, clear the drain and check the outdoor unit and electrics on a service in Eastleigh, before testing the system and checking for refrigerant leaks.

We are an F-Gas certified company, NICEIC approved for electrical work, with MCS certification for heat pumps and Checkatrade membership. Refrigerant work is done by engineers who hold the F-gas qualifications the law requires.

Landlords, agents and facilities managers

When the building owner and the occupier are different, it’s worth checking the agreement for who looks after the system. We’re happy to deal with either side, and the paperwork can go to both.

Keeping records across a portfolio is half the battle. Each visit produces a dated record, with F-Gas records wherever refrigerant work is involved, ready for a tenant, a buyer or an inspection.

Owner checks or an engineer?

Leave the units and pipework where they are. Disconnecting a system means dealing with refrigerant, which only a qualified engineer can do, and the electrics need care too. Ask us to quote for a move instead.

Refrigerant is off limits for anyone without the right qualifications. Under the F-gas rules, engineers need their own qualifications and the company must be certified, and escaping refrigerant can cause cold burns. A suspected leak is our job, not yours.

Eastleigh: your questions answered

How often do you service systems in Eastleigh?

Once a year suits most home systems. Business systems may also need F-gas leak checks, at least every 12 months from 5 tonnes CO2 equivalent.

Is Eastleigh in your area for air conditioning servicing?

Yes. Eastleigh is one of the places we cover. Just phone us on 07833 053749 or drop us a line with a few details.

Do you offer emergency call-outs?

Yes, any time. If something urgent happens, like water coming from a unit or a critical room overheating, call our 24/7 line and we’ll tell you what to do first.

Do you survey before quoting?

Yes, always. We diagnose before we treat: the survey tells us what the job needs and how to do it and the fixed price is built on it.

Which manufacturers do you install and repair?

The main ones, including Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi. For new systems, we recommend a brand and model to suit the job and explain why.

Can I do the refrigerant work myself?

The refrigerant side has to be done by a qualified engineer working for an F-Gas certified company. That’s a legal requirement, and it also matters for the manufacturer’s warranty. We can quote for the whole job, from supply to commissioning.

Do you protect the property while you work?

We start with protection: dust sheets over floors and anything close to the work. Holes and fixings are agreed with you, and we clean up afterwards when we finish.

What air conditioning servicing cannot fix

Air conditioning servicing can’t fix everything, and we’d rather say so up front. It doesn’t solve:

  • Cooling capacity that doesn’t match the space
  • Poor original installation, such as drains without a proper fall
  • Heat from large windows, roof spaces or equipment beyond the system’s capacity

Not sure which it is? You can call us on 07833 053749 or write to us at info@aircondoctor.co.uk and we will tell you honestly.

Parts of the system we cover

  • VRF systems
  • Multi-split systems
  • Air-to-air heat pumps
  • Ducted systems
  • Wall-mounted split systems
  • Ceiling cassettes

The process

Each visit runs to the same pattern: check the plan with you, put the dust sheets down, do the work, check the system and explain it all to you. On site, the work takes an hour or two for most homes, and longer where there are several indoor units or a ducted system. In a town like Eastleigh, we fit the visit around you.

  1. We book a time that suits you and confirm the price.
  2. We switch the system on and check it in operation.
  3. Then the cleaning: filters, coils, fan and the drain line.
  4. Electrical and refrigerant checks follow, including a leak check if the rules require one.
  5. A final test run follows, then you get the service record.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Make sure someone can let us in at the agreed time
  • Mention any roof access, ladders or high-level work
  • Make sure we can reach the outdoor unit, or where it will go

Getting a price

What a service looks like in Eastleigh

The last census (2021) found about 37% of households in terraced houses. Terraced homes rarely have side access, so say whether we reach the back through the house, a garage or a rear lane. About 6 listed entries lie within half a mile of central Eastleigh, Eastleigh Railway Station (grade II) among them. Should a unit ever need replacing on a listed building or in a conservation area, ask us about consent first.

Businesses close to Eastleigh station can book an early or late slot so the service does not get in the way of trade. Schools such as Norwood Primary School can book servicing for half term or the summer break, when rooms are empty.

“Excellent service from start to finish. Two wall-mounted units installed in our home. Clean, tidy work: they protected all the floors and left no mess. The systems work brilliantly. Would highly recommend.”
