Air conditioning servicing in Onslow Village

Air conditioning servicing in Onslow Village

Servicing covers both halves of the system: the indoor units in the rooms and the outdoor unit outside. Filters and coils are cleaned, the drain is cleared, and the electrics, controls and refrigerant performance are all checked. We service systems in Onslow Village and across Surrey, whatever the make. If you are dealing with systems that haven’t been serviced for a while and condensate leaking into the room, we can help.

Outdoor units around Onslow Village tend to be close to gardens and hedges, which can clog the outdoor coil. Cleaning it is part of every service.

Whatever the visit, you get a written record: commissioning details for an installation, a fault and repair note for a repair, or a record of the service. Keep it with the system’s paperwork, because it helps with any later warranty question.

Onslow Village: your questions answered

How often do you service systems in Onslow Village?

Once a year suits most home systems. Check your manufacturer’s warranty terms too, as some of them make regular servicing a condition.

Will you come out to Onslow Village?

Yes, and the size of the place makes no difference to how we work. We are based in East Grinstead and plan each visit so the job can be finished in one trip where possible.

Do you survey before quoting?

Yes. Photos often do the job for simple work, while larger systems and faults that need testing are seen on site.

Do you work on commercial properties?

Yes. From a single let flat to offices, shops and public buildings, we work the same way: survey or diagnosis, a fixed price and proper paperwork.

Which accreditations do you hold?

AirCon Doctor is an F-Gas certified company, NICEIC approved for electrical work and MCS certified for heat pumps. We’re also Checkatrade members.

Can you come out in an emergency?

Yes. If something urgent happens, like water coming from a unit or a critical room overheating, call our 24/7 line and we’ll tell you what to do first.

Who has to arrange F-Gas leak checks?

The F-gas rules share it between the equipment’s operator and the engineers who work on it. How often depends on the size of the refrigerant charge in tonnes of CO2 equivalent: at least yearly for 5 to under 50 tCO2e, and every 6 months for 50 to under 500 tCO2e.

What we are called out for in Onslow Village

Outdoor units sit in the weather all year. Leaves, grime and plant growth gather on the fins and around the unit, which makes it harder for the unit to shed or pick up heat.

Look out for any of the following:

  • Leak check records that need bringing up to date
  • Noisy fans or rattling from the outdoor unit
  • A service that is overdue

Schools such as Onslow Infant School can book servicing for half term or the summer break, when rooms are empty.

What your quote should include

  • What records you get at the end
  • Which brand and model they’re proposing, and why
  • Whether the manufacturer’s warranty depends on regular servicing

How to choose an air conditioning engineer

Keeping the system healthy

To keep the system working properly:

  • Know your manufacturer’s servicing conditions
  • Keep plants, bins and stored items away from the outdoor unit
  • Book the service at least once a year

Run the system for a while after the visit and check it feels right. If you notice anything unusual, ring 07833 053749 or drop us a line and we will talk it through.

Give the outdoor unit room to breathe. Leaves, garden waste, bins and climbing plants all restrict the airflow, so clear them back.

What happens on the day

If the system has to be off for part of the visit, we tell you before we start so it does not catch you out. In a business, work can often be done one area at a time. On site, it takes an hour or two for most homes, and longer where there are several indoor units or a ducted system. Tell us about any gates or steps at your property near Onslow Village when you book.

  1. First we take the details: brand, model if you have it, how many indoor units and anything that’s been bothering you.
  2. We run the system first and see how it’s performing.
  3. Filters, coils and the condensate drain are cleaned and cleared.
  4. The wiring, controls and refrigerant performance are checked, plus a leak check on systems large enough to need one.
  5. A service record follows, with any faults and the options for fixing them.

How to prepare

  • Clear a path to the units and the space around them
  • Mention any roof access, ladders or high-level work
  • Mention any managing agent or landlord rules we need to follow

Advice

Owner checks or an engineer?

There are a few things you can safely do yourself: keeping the outdoor unit clear, checking the mode and set temperature, and the routine cleaning in the manual. Opening up the units, the electrics and the refrigerant circuit are a job for us.

Some faults have simple causes you can check first: is the system in the right mode, is the set temperature sensible, are the remote’s batteries working and has the breaker tripped. If the breaker trips a second time, leave it off and ring us on 07833 053749, or email if that’s easier.
