About air conditioning in RG28
Wall-mounted, multi-split, ducted and cassette systems are all part of what we install, plus VRF systems for bigger commercial buildings. Which one suits you depends on the space, the building and how much of the unit you want to see and we talk you through it on the survey. We are often asked to deal with an ageing air conditioning system near the end of its life and fans and portables that don’t keep up, across VRF systems, multi-split systems and ceiling cassettes.
The work area is kept tidy throughout, with sheets down and mess cleared as we go. Any holes, fixings or cable routes are agreed with you before we drill. The visit takes anything from a day for one room to several days for a multi-room or ducted system.
- You send photos, or we visit and survey the rooms and outside.
- The system is sized, positions are agreed and the price is fixed.
- On the day, dust sheets go down and the indoor and outdoor units are fitted.
- Pipework, cable and drain are run, the circuit is connected and the pipework is pressure tested and evacuated.
- It’s switched on, checked and handed over with its records.
How we quote
What you pay reflects the actual work. That’s why we look at the job first, from photos or on a survey, and the price is agreed before work begins.
Why book with us
- One contact for properties across the South East and London
- We diagnose before we treat
- Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba and more
- Members of Checkatrade
Getting a price
Here’s what helps us quote: the address and the type of property, a few photos, the brand and model of anything already fitted and anything you’ve noticed, such as an error code or a noise. Once you have those, phone us on 07833 053749, or email if that’s easier.
Local landmarks in Whitchurch
Around Whitchurch, our work takes us to homes and businesses near Testbourne Community School, Whitchurch Church of England Primary School and The Red House Public House. The nearest railway station is Whitchurch (Hampshire) station, roughly 0.5 miles north.
Air conditioning across RG28: local notes
In RG28, as across England, the same permitted development rules apply: cooling-only units are not covered, listed buildings need consent and conservation areas restrict outdoor units facing a road.
Refrigerant work is done by F-gas qualified engineers for a certified company, while NICEIC approval covers the electrical work, in RG28 as everywhere else.
Whitchurch: If you commute from Whitchurch (Hampshire) station and work from home on other days, one wall-mounted unit in the home office is often all that’s needed. Older streets near Church of All Hallows may fall within a conservation area, so we check the planning position before choosing where the outdoor unit goes.
What happens if it’s left?
Fans and portables move warm air around rather than removing it. A fixed system removes the heat to the outside, runs more quietly in the room and can usually heat as well, so it works for you in winter as well.
Questions to ask before booking
- Whether extra work needs your approval first
- Whether the company is F-Gas certified, and whether you can check it
- Why the equipment they’re quoting suits the job
- If the figure could change on the day
Owner checks or an engineer?
Good habits make our visits easier, not unnecessary. Simple care keeps the air moving through the system, but the refrigerant circuit, the electrics and the parts you cannot see still need an engineer at the interval the manufacturer recommends.
There are a few things you can safely do yourself: keep the outdoor unit clear of leaves, plants and clutter, check the settings and the remote, and follow the cleaning the manual describes. Anything inside the units, the electrics and the refrigerant is engineer’s work.
Managing agents and facilities teams in RG28
From a single flat to a whole estate, you get the same standard: diagnosis, a fixed price, access agreed with the people on site and paperwork at the end.
We work for landlords, letting agents and managing agents as well as homeowners and businesses. Let us know who will give us access and who the records should go to and we will copy in whoever needs it.
What air conditioning can’t fix
Air conditioning cannot fix everything, and we’d rather say so up front. It doesn’t solve:
- A lack of fresh air (most split systems recirculate room air rather than bringing fresh air in, which is a job for ventilation)
- Gas boiler or central heating faults (we do not work on gas boilers)
- Damp or condensation caused by leaks or poor ventilation in the building (that needs the cause fixing)
RG28 questions
Which type of system should I choose?
There’s no single best type. A split suits one room, a multi-split several, a ducted system hides the unit, and a cassette spreads air across larger rooms. The survey ends with a recommendation and the reasons.
Do you work on systems someone else installed?
Yes. Systems fitted by other companies are fine, on all the main brands. Tell us the make and model and send any paperwork you have.
Do you work on all makes?
We work with the leading brands, including Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi. Send us the make and model if you have it.
Do you have a 24/7 line?
Yes, any time. If something urgent happens, like water coming from a unit or a critical room overheating, call our 24/7 line and we will agree what happens next.
Can you fit air conditioning in a leasehold flat?
In many cases, but permissions come first. Leaseholders normally need consent from the landlord or management company for an outdoor unit and holes through outside walls and the lease will say. Permitted development rules for flats are also tighter than for houses, and we flag anything that may need permission. This is general information, not legal advice.
What accreditations do you have?
F-Gas company certification, NICEIC approval for electrical work and MCS certification for heat pumps, and we’re Checkatrade members. Engineers who handle refrigerant hold their own F-gas qualifications as well.
Is there a survey before the work?
Yes. Every job is looked at first, on a survey, or from your pictures and details where the job is simple. A fixed-price quote follows.
