Air conditioning for homes and businesses in Firgo

Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi are among the brands we fit. The survey ends with a recommendation and the reasons for it, and the manufacturer’s warranty terms are set out on your quote. Air con, air conditioning, a split system: whatever you call it, in Firgo it means the same thing to us: the right unit in the right place, fitted and commissioned properly.

In a village like Firgo, many homes are older, and some are listed. That matters, because a listed home needs consent and permitted development rules do not apply to it, and the outdoor unit position is chosen to suit the building.

The records are your system’s health record: what was fitted or found, what was done and when. If anything goes wrong later, it helps the next engineer and the manufacturer and it’s worth keeping safe.

What air conditioning will not do

Air conditioning can’t fix everything, and we’ll tell you before any work starts. It will not put right:

  • Damp from leaks or a lack of ventilation
  • Gas boiler or central heating faults (we don’t work on gas boilers)
  • Heat loss through very poor insulation (a system will heat the room, but insulation is a separate job)

Not sure which it is? You can give us a ring on 07833 053749 or email us and we will tell you honestly.

Parts of the system we cover

  • Multi-split systems
  • Ceiling cassettes
  • Wall-mounted split systems
  • Ducted systems
  • VRF systems
  • Air-to-air heat pumps

What happens on the day

The visit goes in the diary at a time that works for you, and we keep you posted if anything changes. When we arrive, we check the job against the survey or the pictures you sent. Anything unexpected is raised with you before we go further. After that, it takes a day or more, depending on the number of rooms, the pipe routes and the access. A note on how to find the property and where to park makes a visit to Firgo easier.

  1. We survey the property, or work from your photos for a simple job.
  2. The system is sized, positions are agreed and the price is fixed.
  3. On the day, dust sheets go down and the indoor and outdoor units are fitted.
  4. Connections are made, checked for leaks and pulled down to a vacuum.
  5. We commission, show you the controls and leave the F-Gas and warranty paperwork.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Unlock any gate, garage or side passage we need
  • Plan for pets to be kept clear during the visit
  • Let us know where we can park and unload

Offices, shops and commercial rooms

Larger buildings may suit VRF, which runs many indoor units from shared outdoor units. VRF and larger commercial jobs are priced after a survey and the quote sets out the design.

Outdoor unit positions

Outdoor units are fitted on wall brackets, at ground level or on a flat roof, whatever suits the building and the route. It needs space around it to breathe and for an engineer to work on it.

Air conditioning in Firgo: local notes

About 65% of households live in detached or semi-detached houses, according to the last census (2021). Houses normally have a side or rear wall with room for the outdoor unit, and a multi-split can serve several rooms from one outdoor unit.

A loft bedroom or a glazed extension is often the room that prompts the first call. Homes near Church of St Mary are a good example of where we look up the heritage status of the building before fixing anything to it.

Why it’s worth doing now in Firgo

New systems now use lower-impact refrigerants. From 2025, single splits under 3 kg can’t use refrigerants with a GWP over 750, so new splits use refrigerants such as R32, with a GWP of 675. Older R410A systems have a GWP of 2088. Planning ahead for a job in Firgo means we can bring everything needed.

Homes, offices, shops and public buildings are all priced the same way: what’s needed, how we reach it, the parts and the labour. Call for a fixed-price quote and we will explain each part.

Questions from Firgo

Is planning permission needed for air conditioning in Firgo?

It comes down to the building and the spot chosen for the outdoor unit. Historic England lists about 3 buildings and structures within half a mile of the centre of Firgo. A system that heats as well as cools may not need an application on a house, provided it stays within the permitted development limits. Cooling-only units get no such allowance, and listed buildings and road-facing positions in conservation areas need more care. We speak to the local planning authority (for Firgo, usually Basingstoke and Deane council) when it matters.

Do you cover smaller places like Firgo?

Yes, and the size of the place makes no difference to how we work. Send a few details and pictures, and we reply the same working day.

Can you look at a system you didn’t fit?

Yes. We look at it first and tell you what we find, including anything about the original installation that needs putting right. Any work is priced before it goes ahead.

Do I need a new electrical circuit?

In most cases, yes: a dedicated circuit is needed. Under Part P, a new circuit has to be notified unless a registered competent person does it, and we’re NICEIC approved, so we can install and certify it.

Does air conditioning work as heating?

In most cases, yes. A heat pump moves heat from the outside air into the room, so it gives out more heat than the electricity it uses. To replace your main heating, there are extra conditions, including for the £2,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant for air-to-air heat pumps.

What size air conditioning unit do I need?

We size each room on the survey, from its size, glazing, orientation and use. An undersized unit never catches up, and an oversized one cycles and wastes energy and we explain the output we recommend.

Do you work on commercial properties?

Yes. From a single let flat to offices, shops and public buildings, the approach is the same: survey or diagnosis, a fixed price and proper paperwork.

What a customer said

“Excellent service from start to finish. Two wall-mounted units installed in our home. Clean, tidy work: they protected all the floors and left no mess. The systems work brilliantly. Would highly recommend.”
