Air conditioning across N19: what to expect

Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi are among the brands we fit. We recommend a model on the survey and explain why it suits the room, and the manufacturer’s warranty terms are set out on your quote. The work covers wall-mounted split systems, multi-split systems and ducted systems, and the jobs we see most are a loft conversion that’s too warm to use and an office, shop or restaurant that’s uncomfortable for staff and customers.

The first job on site is protection: dust sheets over floors and furniture near the work and nothing is moved without asking you. After that, anything electrical is made safe and we start. It takes anything from a day for one room to several days for a multi-room or ducted system, and we tidy up before we leave.

  1. First the diagnosis: a survey of the rooms, the walls, the outside and the electrics.
  2. Next, a recommendation for each room and a fixed price.
  3. The treatment: units fitted, pipework and drain routed, and the electrics installed.
  4. Checks: a pressure test for leaks, then a vacuum to clear moisture.
  5. The sign-off: commissioning, a walk through the controls, and the F-Gas records and warranty details.

What you will pay

One room or a whole building, we price it on the same basis: what needs doing, how we get to it and what it needs. You’ll have a fixed price before we start, and the quote sets out the VAT.

What you get with us

  • NICEIC approved for electrical work
  • Listed on Checkatrade
  • One number for homes and businesses across London and the South East

Air conditioning around N19

In N19, as across England, the same permitted development rules apply: cooling-only units are not covered, listed buildings need consent and conservation areas restrict outdoor units facing a road.

Our area stretches from Greater London through Surrey, Kent and Sussex to Hampshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Hertfordshire and Essex, and N19 sits within it. One phone number covers all of it.

Upper Holloway: Living close to St Andrew's Whitehall Park? Some older properties in parts like that are protected, and the survey finds out whether yours is. With historic houses such as Witanhurst about 0.9 miles west, it’s a reminder that older homes nearby may be listed, which changes the planning rules.

Fixed-price quotes for air conditioning in N19

You’ll get a fixed price before any work starts. It’s based on:

  • Whether the existing supply is suitable
  • The brand, model and parts involved
  • A single visit or a regular plan
  • Access, including height, roofs and ladders

What you pay depends on the type of system and how many units are involved, the access and the parts and time the job needs. You get a fixed price before any work starts, so you know where you stand.

Asking for a quote

A few details help us quote accurately. When you get in touch, it helps to send:

  • The address and the type of property
  • The fuse board and where it is in the property
  • Wide photos of the room or the existing unit
  • The make and model of the system, from the label

For a fixed-price quote, ring us on 07833 053749 or write to us at info@aircondoctor.co.uk and tell us about the property and what you need. A few pictures make it quicker. You’ll hear back from us the same working day.

Common problems we fix in N19

Computers, screens, lighting and people all give off heat. A small office or a busy room can warm up fast with equipment and people in it, even on a mild day.

It’s time to call us if you are dealing with:

  • Commercial rooms that are too warm for staff
  • Working from home in a room that gets too warm
  • Rooms heated by plug-in heaters
  • Uncertainty over the right type and size of system

Before you call an engineer

Leave the units and pipework where they are. Moving a unit involves the refrigerant circuit, so it needs an F-Gas qualified engineer, and the electrics need care too. Ask us to quote for a move instead.

There are a few things you can safely do yourself: keeping the outdoor unit clear, checking the mode and set temperature, and the routine cleaning in the manual. Anything inside the units, the electrics and the refrigerant is engineer’s work.

When it’s something else

Before you book, it helps to know what’s not included:

  • Gas boiler or central heating faults (we don’t work on gas boilers)
  • A room that cannot take an outdoor unit or pipe route without the landlord’s, management company’s or council’s consent (that consent comes first)
  • Heat loss through very poor insulation (a system will heat the room, but insulation is a separate job)

Common questions in N19

Are you F-Gas certified?

F-Gas company certification, NICEIC approval for electrical work and MCS certification for heat pumps, plus Checkatrade membership. Engineers who handle refrigerant hold their own F-gas qualifications as well.

Will I need planning permission?

Not always. On a house, air-to-water heat pumps and, since 2025, air-to-air systems that heat as well as cool can be permitted development if they meet the conditions. Cooling-only units, listed buildings, flats and road-facing spots in conservation areas are where it usually comes up, and we tell you at the survey. This is general information, not legal advice.

What warranty do I get?

The manufacturer provides it, on its own terms. Some terms depend on regular servicing by a qualified engineer, so keep your service records.

Can you set up regular servicing?

Yes. Tell us what you have and how it’s used and we’ll propose a schedule and quote for it. That can include the leak checks the F-gas rules require for larger systems.

Can I do any of the installation myself?

The refrigerant side has to be done by a qualified engineer working for an F-Gas certified company. That’s the law, not just our preference, and manufacturers expect it for their warranty too. We are happy to quote for the full job, supply to commissioning.

When will I hear back?

We reply to enquiries the same working day. If it’s an emergency, ring the 24/7 line instead.

How long will the installation take?

Most single-room systems take a day. Multi-split, ducted and cassette systems take longer, and we tell you how long on the quote.
