How air conditioning works in CO7
Most modern split systems run as heat pumps, so they can heat as well as cool. The Energy Saving Trust notes that air-to-air heat pumps are sometimes referred to as air conditioning, so a well-chosen unit can be useful in winter as well as summer. Typical jobs include a home office that warms up with screens and equipment and commercial rooms that are too warm for staff, on ducted systems, air-to-air heat pumps and VRF systems.
We keep the work area tidy as we go, with sheets down and mess cleared as we go. If we need to drill through a wall, we agree the spot with you first. On site, it takes about a day for a single-room system, longer for multi-room and ducted systems.
- You send pictures, or we visit and survey the rooms and outside.
- Output, positions and price are settled before anything is booked.
- On the day, dust sheets go down and the indoor and outdoor units are fitted.
- Connections are made, checked for leaks and pulled down to a vacuum.
- The system is commissioned, the controls explained and the F-Gas records handed over.
How we quote
One room or a whole building, the quote is built the same way: the work involved, the access and the equipment. You will have a fixed price before we start, and the quote sets out the VAT.
Why people in CO7 choose us
- Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba and more
- NICEIC approved electrical contractors
- One contact for properties across the South East and London
- Checkatrade member
How to get a quote
Every quote shows the VAT clearly, with the rate that applies to your job. Homes, businesses and different kinds of work can be treated differently for VAT, so we confirm it in writing rather than guess. To get one, call us on 07833 053749, or email if that’s easier.

Air conditioning across CO7: local notes
In CO7, we install in places such as Wivenhoe, Brightlingsea and Wivenhoe Quay and well beyond. Every place on our CO7 list (36 in all) is covered.
CO7 is part of a working area that runs from Greater London to the Sussex coast and out to Oxfordshire and Essex. You reach the same people wherever you are in it. Near the coast in CO7, outdoor units last longer with shelter from sea wind and a yearly service, and some manufacturers offer corrosion-protected coils.
Wivenhoe: Homes near The Church of St Mary are a good example of where we look up the heritage status of the building before fixing anything to it. If you work from home near Wivenhoe station, a home office that overheats is one of the easiest rooms to cool.
What happens if it’s left?
Putting up with another summer of portable units and fans rarely makes sense. A properly installed split moves heat outside, keeps the noisy parts out of the room and in most cases heats too, so it works for you in winter as well.

What we are called out for in CO7
Many people try a portable unit first. A portable unit has to vent its warm air through a hose out of a window, which lets some heat back in, and its compressor sits in the room with you. A fixed split system puts the compressor outside.
Reasons to give us a call include:
- Rooms that get too hot to sleep or work in
- Too many options and no clear advice
- A loft conversion that’s too warm to use
- Commercial rooms that are too warm for staff
System by system
Ducted systems
A ducted system needs a ceiling void or loft deep enough for the unit and ducts plus an access hatch for maintenance. We check that on the survey before recommending one.
Pipework and condensate drains
We pressure test and evacuate the pipework before the system is charged, which keeps moisture and air out of the circuit. It’s recorded in the commissioning details.
Aftercare tips
A little care keeps the system in better shape. Our advice:
- Book an annual service
- Keep the handover documents somewhere safe
- Close windows and doors while the system is cooling
- Do not cover or box in the outdoor unit
We clear up before we go: dust sheets lifted, offcuts and packaging cleared, and the holes for the pipework sealed. Outside, the pipework is neatly fixed and protected as agreed on the survey.
Have the system serviced once a year. A service cleans what you cannot reach and picks up faults before they stop the system and keeps the warranty paperwork right where servicing is a condition.
CO7 questions
Do you survey before quoting?
Yes, every time. We diagnose before we treat: the survey shows what’s needed, where things go and what access we need, and the quote is based on that.
Can you look at a system you didn’t fit?
Yes. Systems fitted by other companies are fine from all the leading brands. Tell us the make and model and send any paperwork you have.
Who has to arrange F-Gas leak checks?
The F-gas rules share it between the equipment’s operator and the engineers who work on it. How often depends on the size of the refrigerant charge in tonnes of CO2 equivalent: at least yearly for 5 to under 50 tCO2e, and every 6 months for 50 to under 500 tCO2e.
Do I get paperwork after the visit?
Yes, on every job. A new system comes with commissioning details, F-Gas records and the manufacturer’s warranty information, and repairs and services get a record of the work.
Which type of air conditioning is best?
It depends on the rooms and the building. Wall-mounted splits suit single rooms, multi-splits run several rooms from one outdoor unit, ducted systems hide the unit in the ceiling, and cassettes suit offices and larger rooms. The survey ends with a recommendation and the reasons.
Can air conditioning heat my home as well?
Normally, yes. A heat pump moves heat from the outside air into the room, so it gives out more heat than the electricity it uses. If you want it to replace your main heating, ask about air-to-air heat pumps and the conditions for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant.
Which manufacturers do you install and repair?
The main ones, including Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi. For new systems, we recommend a brand and model to suit the job and tell you why.
